are any swype users having issues with their swype not working in vanilla? it worked fine with PK but for some reason, it just makes the keyboard flash blue when i try to use it in vanilla...:(
 
Only thing I would really need at this point would be the notification bar toggles and camera functionality. Everything else is great!

are you referring to the pull down power controls? its unlikely that they would make their way into vanilla....cm (kaoscinate has them built in and you can customize which you want in there from about 15 choices) and if we ever get a gem-based rom (less likely now that cvcps has joined cm, but team phoenix or whatever has picked up his work) that would have it as well.

you can use the power control widget on your homescreen as an alternative (i prefer it to pulldown actually)

Yes the pull down WiFi/GPS/Bluetooth etc controls. I use it when in other apps etc so I don't have to switch to homescreen and use my Widgetsoid power controls widget to do it. Not a necessity but definitely a major bonus. This vanilla rom is fanf*ckingtastic though. I'm probably just going to keep it on my phone until actual Froyo is released. Then again, I don't know if I can if I don't have camera functionality. If he gets the camera working, I will never ever go back to 2.1.

its possible, but iffy that the camera gets working before a 2.2 leak/ota

getting working camera on a .29 kernel and 2.2 system (or 2.3 for that matter) is apparently quite challenging for some reason that i really dont know :o

I can imagine, I am about to graduate with an IT degree and have been programming computers etc for going on 8 years now and I know what it's like. But I'm nowhere near the level of these guys. My specialty is networking :)
 
Ok I need to know. Is there a secret hidden menu in this just like in 2.1? The volume levels are pretty low and I can't seem to hear when I get messages or calls, even on max volume.

I had the same issue. I tried removing it and installing another version and still no bueno.

I got swype to work on v1 of vanilla but when I threw v2 right over it then I got the FC's. Someone on xda [I dont have the link sorry] had the fix, we/you have to delete something LibCore.swype or something and then it should work. And/or just uninstall and reinstall swype would probably work too

Well, no one has ever gotten the Galaxy S camera working on AOSP ever.

That's why I say this and video playback (another never-solved issue) will be the last hurdles.

camera is about the least important thing to me, so honestly even if it never worked, i wouldnt be among those upset

Now if only jt1134 can get on board lol. I'm not going to check to check out Kaos because I don't want to be forced into voodoo. That camera sure wouldve helped me out a lot today lol. Oh well.
 
this window keeps on coming up after i try to upload froyo on to my pc. what am i supposed to do with it?

of note seconds later jt did confirm that camcorder does not work however

They both I guess have the camera only working just havent released the fix. Trying on camcorder apparently
 
I gotta say I'm a little unimpressed with the vanilla android camera/camcorder app though. The ones that come with the stock Incredible/Fascinate seem alot nicer. Although I wish the Fascinate one would auto rotate when I put it into portrait.
 
Full-color previews?

CM port folks had camera working with B&W previews and no video recording.
