Root Velocity 3g Unthrottled

=death2all110;2361065]Swc2001 the modded services.jar thats posted yes but this was ported from the dinc with my help but no credit though i found the How-To :( lol.
Um Thanks...

The one for the Dinc was done on 2.2 i havent seen anywhere where anyone has been able to do this for 2.1
Well shoot.
Thanks for the explanation though.
I have yet to test this with Netflix
Thats what I am really anxious to see how it works.
Netflix typically will drop anywhere from 1 - 3 times during a show... and you have full bars.
So I always assumed that it was Verizon Futzin with ya.
I would be very greatful to have uninterupted shows. :D

thanx for zip...i flashed it went from 2270down and 809up to 1484down and 863up

edit-changed server in speed test new-2207down and 890up

Uh, your scores went down, not up...it's supposed to remove Verizons throttles on your 3g download speeds...which would mean a higher score after flashing this...

I have not been able to get above 300 kbps down.... Is it Verizon or am I doing something wrong?

also ive found those speed test apps to not be so accurate. for example i couldnt get a decent speed on those but if say pandora was running it would double.

There is truth in what you say. I'm in an area with bad signal, so my scores are lower. When I use an app that continuously uses 3g(pandora, youtube video, etc), my scores seem to increase, almost double.

Everyone feeling the placebo affect, huh?

I hate to burst your bubble BUT, this method of data throttling is only used by T-Mobile and other small carriers (such as Bell Canada). Verizon Wireless throttles your data at the switch - nowhere on the phone. And before you ask - no, you cannot disable it.

Carry on...

This certainly explains why i have seen no difference in my 3g speeds. Thanks for the clarification Trident. Now if people would just do their homework before their presentations......

So with that, this thread should be closed shouldn't it?

Placebo affect or not for the rest of you, but I still notice a continuous improvement. I'm not arguing with Trident, I'll be the first to admit he knows more than I do. But I would like to say thanks for bursting my bubble.lol..
If you feel it necessary or convenient, close the thread. No skin off my back.

I never noticed any speed increase.
However here is what I did notice.

Before the patch: When using Netflix it constantly goes down 2-3 times per show. you cant reconnect until you either restart the phone or the computer or both.

After the patch: When using Netflix it constantly goes down 2-3 times per show. however now you just hit the refresh button and it starts working again. Now that is No placebo. It did not do that before.

So that is at least somthing.
