Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

How does someone else getting a bonus hurt me? Does it improve my situation if they *didn't* get their phone? No. And I don't raise my kids to cry 'no fair' unless it truly affects them negatively.

I ordered 6/12, cc charged 2 days ago, no shipping update yet. I'm not going to begrudge someone else's good fortune. When it gets past my expected shipping date then I have something to gripe about.

I would say there is always someone worst than your situation, your CC got charged i seen some that haven't even got that far, I used to complain how others got their phone on the 5th and 6th then i realized how alot of people where in a far worst situation than I am, so to me even if they charged my CC on the 3rd and they have been the slowest at shipping i am still ok with the date i got (Monday BTW) just remember if you think you are in a bad situation it could be worst.

I'm cool with everything. It's nice to play with a new toy, but really, it's not like this phone can hover me to work, beam internet to my brain, or get me a date with someone p0rn star hot. Yes it has some tricks that my Rezound doesn't do, but nothing that's going to make a major difference in the next few days.

Charge just hit my card! On 6/26 I ordered a Pebble Blue 32 GB and just got a notification that Big Red has charged my card. Now I need to wait on my email telling me it is on the way to my house.
 
I'm still back at post 3185 playing catchup. This thread has certainly provided entertainment during the wait! :)

I pre-ordered the 16GB Blue S3 online back on June 23rd.

I was just on my banking website to see if Verizon had charged me yet. When I logged in, there had been no sign of the charge, but suddenly my bank put the amount for the Verizon order 'oh hold' pending further action. :)

So, I once again checked the status of my order, and it has finally started moving forward from the "Will ship by 7/11" static notice. I now have an order number displayed, and the "+" that has been previously mentioned where the Tracking Information will go. The carrier and tracking number are not yet filled in, but I guess that's the next step. Status still shows will ship by 7/11.

So, can anyone comment on how long it took for their order to go from this state to actually having the FedEx tracking number? Starting to feel like Indiana Jones here with all the "clues" leading to other "clues". :D
 
wrong choice of words on my part but a few posts up I have seen 32GB white orders having the ship by dates pulled as a result. they will get shipped eventually.

thats what im waiting on, the 32g white, and i just got my shipping email this morning saying delivery 6/9..... ill be soooo ticked if they change my date. ive heard the 32g white is what they are having stocking issues with

It looks like I got burned by Verizon / Chase. I received an email that my order was on hold, followed 15 minutes later by a fraud prevention call from Chase. I guess despite the fact that I have had monthly payments to Verizon for many years they thought that the phone order might be fradulent. I told them it wasnt fradulent and called Verizon back. If i want the phone now I have to re-order and under no circumstances can I keep the unlimited data.

Thanks Chase and Verizon, looks like i will be looking for a new wireless provider and new credit card company.

Oh, man! That's just WRONG. I feel sorry for you. What rotten luck. It doesn't make sense that Chase can't fix the problem by talking to Verizon.

Likely be in the morning when you'll have tracking info. Mine went plus a couple of days ago about 7:00 at night. Next morning at 9 I had tracking. You're almost there.

Thanks Trent. Hopefully that means mine might ship out on Monday. I figure yours got held back by the holiday and actually loaded on the FedEx truck some time on the 5th. With 2 day shipping that would indeed likely arrive Monday the 9th. With one day shipping it 'could' come Saturday. I don't know if any of you are into Amazon Prime, but since joining that I have seen, and taken advantage of, Saturday Overnight Prime deliveries on some merchandise when it was offered, and doing so always comes by FedEx. I wondered why this was, because getting Saturday delivery from UPS always costs extra. So I did some reading on the FedEx website, and they do indeed consider Saturday a normal delivery day now. At least, that's what the website said.

Not to get anyone's hopes blown to high out of proportion, but I also "have seen" in the past where Fedex sometimes tends to be a bit conservative on their delivery dates of packages in their system. That is to say, I have received FedEx packages a few times ahead of the date they showed it scheduled to deliver, when I looked up the tracking online. But of course that was only on a few occasions, so not necessarily any sort of reliable information. Just saying it's not impossible to see one show up early once they have it in motion. But that might not apply as much to 2-day as it would for standard ground, and probably has no bearing at all on their Priority shipments.

I had the same problem. You have to call your credit card company and find out why it didn't get through. Get the approval, then call Verizon and have them put it through again. i got the on hold and 11th ship date email. I made the calls today and they sent it today
 
Well I can finally activate my phone! Yay!!!

I still haven't gotten a call from verizon saying that I could though. I've just been trying both over the phone and online every so often all day today. About a half hour ago, it finally worked!!!

So far so good. I miss the original Google setup screens though, but was able to figure out how to setup my Google account easy enough.

I've started downloading and uploading apps, however, they appear to have stopped for some reason now. I have about a dozen of them queued up but they aren't moving. Maybe I'll reboot?

Also, as a former chase bank account holder, I can agree that they do in fact suck. I'm glad I left them when I did!

It might be a Pay Store issue. Sometimes they give me problems, too. When all else fails I go to the Settings/Apps/Play Store and force close the app, then clear the cache. That usually gets things rolling again. I used to have the same problem back when it was the Market too. If lots of us are getting new S3s today, I'll bet the Play Store is very busy trying to keep up.
 
Unfortunately they way they explained it was that the computer system will not let them do it, the rep i spoke to put me on hold and talked to both the order department for several minutes as well as their manager, she seemed like she really wanted to help but that there was nothing she could do.

I also went to the Verizon store close to my place and there was nothing they could do because they are unable to access the online orders from their system.

I will try call back again tomorrow and see if i can speak to someone different, but if the problem is with the computer system then it looks like I am really out of luck.

The good thing is I am off contract so I am free to leave but the bad part is that Sprint does not have 4g in my area yet so that limits my options.


UPDATE:
I managed to speak to a different rep who was very nice and managed to get authorization to re-order and let me keep my unlimited. So for anyone else in this situation, there is hope! Basically the re-order shows up without the unlimited data, and a note is added in the account to grant unlimited data on activation. As long as I phone in so the person can see the account note, there is no problem. The only downside is that i'm probably back of the queue but at least I can keep the unlimited :)

Found this on the Best Buy Galaxy S III comment page. This is for the Best Buy folks that have pre-ordered (me included.) It's something at least.

sorry if this has been brought up on previous pages, but just to be certain.. you do HAVE to sign for this package from FedEx correct? They wont just drop it off even if your in a quote on quote "safe neighborhood".... Im at my office pretty much all day everyday and this is going to potentially be an issue for me.

on a side note has anyone actually gone directly to a fedex facility and picked a package up there? can you do that?

Yes, and Yes. You can take the ticket they will leave in lieu of the package to the Fedex facility listed where the package will be after the driver gets back (they'll mention a time) and pick it up, if you can get there before they close for the night.

The lame part is fedex site had it shipped on the 3rd then when I checked it again now they changed it to being picked up today I am wondering if Vzw dropped the ball or it was a system error...:(

No one wants to deliver there. Too hot.
 
Good grief, I ordered pebble blue 32 on the 21st and still says 07/11. This "warehouse issue" sucks. I wanna use my card to make sure it still works.
