Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

I am trying to figure out when Verizon will open pre-order for the S3. Anyone remember their history with previous devices? Do they even have pre-order? Thanks.

Update: June 6 0700 EDT for pre-orders

It makes sense though. Samsung is fighting with Apple for world dominance. It makes perfect sense for them to release (or get the carriers to release) this flagship phone around the same time, and most importantly, BEFORE the release of iPhone 5.

I just hope that Verizon won't drag their feet on this phone. If they delay this phone for months and after the ending of Unlimited Data Plan, I will certainly move to AT&T. AT&T is planning to have Toll-Free Data Plan that pushes the streaming cost to the content providers. (AT&T Users Could See "Toll-Free" Data Plans In The Next 12 Months, Says CEO Randall Stephenson) I think AT&T is making it easier for the Verizon Unlimited Data customers to switch when the tiered data plan start.
 
God I hope they don't stall the launch till after the new plans. I need a new phone bad. I was hoping to have to have before I had to Chicago in the 1st
 
No one was sure it was going to be released there, then it just was announced and was available to buy. Done deal. Maybe the same in the U.S>

I know VZW has offered pre-orders in the past. I pre-order my HTC Droid Incredible from them nearly 2 years ago and I believe the Galaxy Nexus was available for pre-order too. I think with all the hype this phone is getting, they will have to allow pre-orders and even those will have delays I imagine.
 
They did it with the DX. Some got it early, some got it late, but most got it on time. I think pre-orders started about a week before the release date.

No preorders on the Nexus, but there was on the RAZR. I would lean towards pre-orders on this one for sure though.
 
It's official, from Samsung. Sometime this month: news SAMSUNG
Note: I just reread it: "starting in June." So we will see.

Seriously? Did VZW just want to mess with us Nexicans by going with $300 (and yeah, I know that most other LTE phones for $300). Wonder what the off contract price will be?
 
I'd suspect that the $200 price is to be competitive with other US carriers that will also do the $200 price.

Usually VZW has the exclusive with a phone, so they can get away with charging $300. That does not appear to be the case with the GS3, so they have to price competitively.

True. Don't know if a price was announced yet, but I wonder what they'll roll the Incredible LTE out for? (it better be no more than $200 since it's not even a One series)

Good point, I think I remember a rumor of $199 with 50 MIR, this news would make that rumor quite logical.
 
From an article this morning. SO $199 is the 16GB, but I'd definitely go for 32GB.

First out of the gate is Verizon, which says its GSIII will be available for preorder at 7 a.m. EDT Wednesday, June 6; no actual release date was given. It'll run $199 on contract for a 16GB model, and $249 for a 32GB model.

Samsung wants to make a serious run at Apple with this phone globally, so I'm guessing the $200 price point is more Samsung than VZs doing...

NEWS:

Just was on the VZW website. Northeast USA zip code and got a home page advertising Galaxy S3 pre-orders that start June 6th.

just so everyone knows it is coming to VZW.



Specs according to VZW website:
4g LTE (duh)
4.8" HD SUper AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 2.0
1.5 GHz dual-core processor
2 GB of ram
Android 4.0 (duh)
