[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

B38 broke SystemPanel monitoring. Now cannot monitor app cpu usage using SystemPanel.

Edit: I may have fixed it.

You know what would be a badass feature, the ability to switch cameras mid video capture. Be in the middle of recording a video then switch to front facing camera for commentary/reaction(s) then switch back...just thought of that as i just recorded something...

p.s. the oem kernel is sucking my battery down, it just doesnt like my phone, everything else does just not that kernel... ;-(

Well folks, I've decided to hold off on flashing b38.

It seems to me that the safest and best way to do it is a clean install... and while I have my apps & app data and settings & all backed up, I do NOT feel like moving ALL my pictures, ALL my videos, ALL my movies back over from the PC every time an incremental update comes out.

I guess I'll just chill here on b37 until a stable final version comes out and flash it :)

Chief,

You shouldn't have to move your pictures, videos, movies after a full wipe. I have never had to do this, and I have done a full wipe quite a few times.

As androidad said you don't have to do this. When you do a full and complete wipe NOTHING is touched on your /sdcard partition. It will remain intact.

Although I do recommend frequent /sdcard backups in case something happens. By "sdcard backup" I mean to just copy and paste your contents into a folder on your PC.

I did a couple things, I'll list them all although I'm pretty sure it's the last thing that fixed it. First, uninstalled and reinstalled from market, then restored data only for SystemPanel. That didn't work. Then I forced monitoring by turning on the option to keep it in foreground, and I turned on the notification. It started monitoring shortly after that step. I then turned off the notification and the force-foreground and it seems to be working normally.

It was my understanding that a data wipe / factory reset also wipes the internal memory.

So I'm not doing that? But rather just wipe the cache/Dalvik/system/data partitions?

DUH Gulf War moment here

EDIT: Done deal. Dirty flashed it and everything appears to be just fine :)

Thanks for all the help, everyone!

Okay, I installed build 38 and I can't find the setting to close all other tabs within the browser as mentioned in the change log below:

Browser: added option to close all other tabs (besides current)

I'm using ICS Browser+ but don't see a setting for this anywhere. What am I missing?

Unlocking the bootloader wipes the SD. That is it Jefe

Loving the new toggle widget feature in the nav bar. Just like jmartino5920, I'm all about LMT launcher and hiding the nav bar. It's looking like that's going to change. :)

Or, it might not have to. Quoted from Zaphod:

I've seen a lot of discussion about the Nav Widgets (which is good .. glad everyone is having fun playing with it). So I thought I'd weigh in with a few technical answers.
Deleting widgets: There currently is no way to delete a single widget entry. The way they are stored makes that a little more difficult to do (will do this eventually, it's possible - just a little tricky with handling the array). You can reset just the navbar widgets by pressing the menu button in top right and selecting reset navbar widgets.
Also in the top right menu is the 'Reset NavBar' option. This will reset all of your navbar buttons - and also resets the widgets.
Widget sizing: A few widgets don't seem to be reporting their size properly (Tapatalk is one) so you get just a 'sliver' of the widget. Because the height of the widget is saved, it might also carry over into any widget you replace the offending widget with (a reboot should force it to resize properly).
Dismissing the widget popup is done by either pressing your 'toggle button' again or by pressing outside the widget area (no swiping is necessary - just press outside of it's bounds - the navbar doesn't count here .. you can continue to use the navbar while widgets are up)

I will be working on the sizing issue - maybe I can set a default size for widgets that don't report correctly, etc.

I also plan to add a shortcut (like there is for torch & hide navbar) so that those that use a hidden NavBar (and LMT/Button Savior) can link a gesture to it and still enjoy it.

I will look into an 'infinite scroll' possibility. Not sure the Viewpager supports it, but will look.

There has also been some suggestion of making the widgets work on the lockscreen. - another good idea I'll explore.

Much like when we first released the original NavBar customizations, it's a very new feature and may take a couple of releases to fully explore all the possibilities.

Hey JB have you seen him mention anything about tablet support?

If you don't want to do #12 then just don't do #11. You are checking restore phone from google in #11, then undoing it by stopping the restore in #12. Just do neither and get the same result.

Not the same thing. First of all, if you're not on wifi it's consuming wireless data which could also mean it's slow. It's MUCH faster for me to restore my apps via TiBu than let the market re-download and install them. YMMV if you're in a blazing fast LTE market. Also it goes without saying that the re-installing of the apps via the play store does NOT restore the settings. So you'd have to do that somehow anyway, be it with TiBu or some other method. I prefer to just cancel the restore (I select restore because I DO want the wifi passwords, etc) so I can more quickly restore the app and their data from TiBu. :)

So back to The_Chief's original question, how do you cancel the app updates once they've started in the play store (step 12)?

Immediately open the play store. Tap 'continue' then accept the agreement. I can't remember if at that point you'll be at the apps list or not. If not, hit menu -> my apps.

From there, tap the area where it says "updating xxx ..." it should stop the updates.

I'm confused (not the first time :p)

What Jack is saying is "why even choose YES on #11?" You're not restoring your phone via Play Store so why choose yes? If you choose "NO" then you don't have to do "step #12" or am I missing something?

I've always chosen "NO" on the Goog backing up my phone. Guess I'm an avid TiBu user from the beginning

Google restore also does some of the system settings...like wifi passwords, etc. I don't really want to have to re-enter all my wireless passwords/etc for friends' houses, work, home each time I flash a new ROM cleanly :(

Really? Never knew that. So on top of your apps it will restore system settings. What other system settings besides passwords? I've never used it so that is why I ask.
