[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Yes, I was referring to the navbar widgets

hmmm :hmmmm:

I have seen some talk about it on tablets in the rootz forum, but nothing that has remained in my aging & limited memory :stupid: mostly because I do not own a tab. I'll make sure to take in any info I read about it as best I can Patriot and let you know anything I can :itsme:

Google restore also does some of the system settings...like wifi passwords, etc. I don't really want to have to re-enter all my wireless passwords/etc for friends' houses, work, home each time I flash a new ROM cleanly :(

Can't you do that from TiBu as well? That's what I did. Just when you go into your app list in TiBu, there's wifi passwords with the TiBu icon to the left. I restore that, and bam, don't have to type in a password.

I never knew this either.

Never knew this either. Learning a lot this morning.

I knew TiBu did it all and then some. It can back up anything/everything including itself, it is such a powerful (and potentially dangerous) program. I dig it but have always and only used it to backup apps

Ok, when I flashed I saved all my SMS using go SMS's in app back up and restore. It didn't save the MMS though. :( I had some sexy pictures sent to me that I lost.

So anyways, what app should I've used to save SMS and MMS?

And is there anyway to restore without restoring a nandroid?

I recommend MyBackupPro. Well worth it. Backs up either to onboard memory or online. Just don't backup system settings and then flash over a new ROM! :)

I use smsbackup. Syncs to your gmail account and you can organize and cull through your PC which makes it easy and fast. However, if you have a lot of SMS to backup and restore the process is a little slow. I'm a neat freak so it takes less than 30 seconds.

Has anyone got a mirror of the 4/29 gapps? Keep getting server errors when I click download.

Edit, nevermind, apparently the 12th time is the charm. Or something.

Does this app backup MMS ? I use SMS Backup+ that offers the same functionality as you described, but it currently does not support MMS.

Sorry to repost here but just wanted to see if anyone had figured out how to access this feature mentioned in the changelog for build 38:

Browser: added option to close all other tabs (besides current)

I can't find this anywhere.

Funny thing. It says it does and even has a setting under "advanced settings> backup settings" to "backup MMS". It doesn't backup the MMS picture/s though, just the text sent alongside the picture. Kind of pointless

idk if it's an ICS thing, or a gmail thing, the SMSbackup+ app or what, but thanks for pointing that out. =]

Bumping this for you :)

I'm still on B37 so idk how/if this works, but I bet you're just missing a setting somewhere.

Anyone on B38 that knows this please assist this gentleman!

I can't find it either!?!? :(

Thx for looking into it jmar :D

I got an idea, and this is just a guess as I'm on B37, but enable the pie settings in the launcher and see if it is in that? jgordon --> Open browser> settings> labs> quick control

I don't typically use quick controls but I turned them on just now and there's nothing I see about closing all other tabs. Maybe, this was mistakenly not enabled in build 38?

I guess it's possible. I'm sure someone will read this and get you going soon

So... Question. What is the difference between a build and a milestone? I'm without a computer, so its not as easy to search this.

A milestone is a final product. A build is basically a nightly improvement on it, but far from a final ROM. It's an experimental ROM but shown to work.

:)

so build 38 is a step up from milestone 5, but not yet milestone 6?

Basically yes.

It goes something like this:

Mx -> Bn -> Bn+1 -> Bn+2 ... -> Mx+1

Not exactly linear as I believe they are forks. But the intent is that B* release introduce new features and the bugs/issues get ironed out from build to build. Once they reach a point where the features should be frozen, they take it and start focusing on bug fixes for the next milestone release (at which point I believe it's forked). I'm not sure of the exact process they use (e.g. fork or just cherry picking git pulls or what), but in general think of builds as being relatively stable with new features, BUT subject to some issues whereas milestones they try their best to eliminate most bugs, certainly all the big ones.
