[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

So no one has any idea what system app brightness settings might be located in? I'd like to try backing it up and seeing what happens. Because if I can't back it up I'm not inclined to clean flash every build... (my custom auto brightness is always on; as a matter of fact I just removed the slider from my notification drop down)

Android OS usage is at > 50% after flashing b39. I checked cpuspy and it's been @ min freq (350 Mhz) 86% of the time instead of deep sleep most of the time (it's been off and idle most of the time since I flashed). Battery is draining rapidly compared to b38. :(

Under Kernel Wakelocks in BBS, "suspend_backoff" seems to be the culprit.

Well since the cm kernel was accidentally included, I decided to flash Lean Kernel 3.9.0 to see if the suspend_backoff issue persists.

Alright guys so I found this app called lux which has custom brightness settings and whose preferences can be backed up. I'll see how it works, how effective it is, and how much battery it chews up. I'll let y'all know how it goes. If anyone would like to give it a go, please do, since I had to do a little translating from the custom settings in my phone that I love so much to the ones that are in the app. It seems to be making everything much brighter than the built in custom settings which I'm not a fan of :/ . To figure out the brightness percentage from the custom settings of AOKP, it'd be the value as a percentage of 255 correct? So a 10 would be roughly 4% brightness?

OP is back to build 38... what happened? Did B39 cause self-destructs or something?

I changed it early afternoon today to b39. Maybe a mod accidentally edited the title. They have edited the OP on more than one occasion in the spirit of being helpful. Did it change back to b38?

Does anyone have a link to B38 & gapps? Too many problems with 39 are scaring me. And I'm completely mobile right now so downloading to computer is out.

Thanks Chief!!!! I love my setup now but AndroidTether isn't playing nice so I will try AOKP again for that feature.

I really don't. It's one thing I researched 2 years ago with my Inc and CM7 I wanted to do the same thing, but gave up and just re-set up brightness settings so often I got used to it and completed it in 5 minutes. Let us know if you find anything regarding it.

Easiest way to do it (imo) is lets say you would like a 37% brightness on your display when indoors. 255brightness x .37% = 94.35brightness. So set brightness in the custom settings to ~94 and you'll get your 37% brightness. 127.5brightness would = 50%. And so on. This is just an educated guess :)

Let us know how you like lux I've read some good reviews of it

The problem is I would want it going the other way. I would want the 94.35 brightness in screen brightness percentage (the 37%). But I got rid of lux...not as smooth or pleasing as stock. Continuing on with looking for a stock backup :/

Hey jbdan, are you going to flash B39? Like you, I held off B38, I just didn't want to mess with the linaro stuff yet... B39 came out on a Friday though, so I sort of had to flash it, since I'll have all weekend to play with it :D

I clean flashed from B37 about 30 mins ago and all is well so far, I'll post any pros/cons and they become evident.

You sort of had to flash it... lol I know that feeling! I plan to yup. The linaro stuff, when stable and reliable, will make it in aokp from what I hear. People are liking 39 for the most part, but I might not have a chance to clean flash till Sunday late. Please do report your experience on 39, I'll look to it come flash time.

Yeah on the B39 changelog, Roman said that Linaro will be incorporated when they are absolutely sure that it's stable on their ROM, which I totally agree with.

Here's something interesting, not necessarily a problem though:

After I flashed B39, I plugged my phone into my computer via a USB 4-to-1 splitter, and the computer didn't recognize it. Of course, I freaked out for minute, then plugged it directly in to a USB port on the laptop. Windows recognized it and reinstalled the drivers right away. Then when I plugged it into the splitter again, all was well. I guess I learned 2 things:

1. Windows needs to reinstall the phone's drivers after flashing a new ROM.

2. Windows will not recognize a device plugged into a USB splitter whose drivers are not already installed.

Interesting...

Very interesting in your case. My Win7PC always detects my GN after a ROM flash no matter what (well as long as MTP in storage settings is checked :p). I installed the official GN drivers from Samsung though upon rooting back in Dec of 2011. Maybe that is why?

The only time my PC won't recognize my phone is if I plug the phone in while the PC is asleep, then click my mouse to wake PC up. I have to unplug the GN and plug back in real quick

I have a possible somewhat silly question - what is HDPI vs xHDPI and which do we have for the Nexus?

It seems like it's simply a measure of pixel density, pixels per inch (ppi). Here's a rather in depth write up. The summary is:

LDPI = Low Density (120 ppi)
MDPI = Medium Density (160 ppi)
HDPI = High Density (240 ppi)
xHDPI - Extra High Density (320 ppi)

With a 4.65" screen at 1280x720 pixels, the GNex has a pixel density of just under 316 ppi, so we have an xHDPI screen.

Alright all so its been a while and I'm out of touch with imo's kernel...I just flashed 3.9.0 exp3 (180mhz)...recommended settings?
