Ok, new odd quirk that I'm finding with this ROM.
I'm no longer recieving any Email notifications! I've checked all my settings, I've made sure it's synching, but I don't get any indication when an email arrives. Is this a "feature" to improve battery performance? Could this be a part of LeanKernel?
I can't tell, but I'm not happy.
When you installed the ROM, what ROM did you come from and what were your exact steps prior to flashing the one you are currently on (assuming 19 is your current?)?
Also, have you tried deleting these problematic email accounts, and re-setting them back up?
The kernel shouldn't have any kind of effect on notifications like this, but I've seen weirder things happen! Really need to know exactly what you did prior to your installation/ aka prior to you having these issues
I came from stock, and flashed 19. I also put LeanKernel on with it at the same time.
I just got an email notification (first one since last night!) and honestly, have no idea what change occurred. I'll just have to monitor it because it still seems a little weird. I sent maybe 20 emails to myself (from my work account) testing this. perhaps I wasnt being patient enough, but I only started tinkering with it when I realized I hadn't received any emails since last night, and that never happens.
Thanks for the tip on how to install the ROM then Kernel. I'll keep that in mind.
I wiped EVERYTHING when I flashed the ROM then GAPPS then Kernel. data/system/cache.
Still having quirks, but it's difficult to explain it since I can't figure out the common factor.
Like just now, I sent myself an email from my work account, waited 5 minutes, never received any notification... opened up my gmail app, and had to click the SYNC button on the bottom. Only then did 2 new emails come in.
So in your settings> accounts and sync> xxx@gmail> you have what you want checked?
Also, settings> more> mobile networks> data enabled is checked correct?
One more thing. Have you tried removing these problematic email accounts and re-add them? I would.
If still having issues with this your other alternative I'd recommend is to re-wipe and re-flash making sure you do it all correctly and thoroughly.
That means:
dnld rom and kernel and put on sdcard
reboot into recovery
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
go to "mounts and storage" and format system
go back
go to advanced
wipe dalvik cache
go back
flash ROM
go back
flash gapps
go back
reboot
let it get to homescreen skip setup or setup if you want
reboot into recovery
go to "advanced"
wipe dalvik cache
flash custom kernel
reboot
I removed my account and re-added it. It worked. Can't believe I didn't do that first, thanks you're a lifesaver
Forgot one more possible cause to your issues. Do you use Titanium backup, and if so, did you restore any system apps and/or data with any apps?
Yes, I did restore all my apps with Titanium. What could possibly be the cause here?
When you restored them, or better yet, when you backed them up originally, did you backup "system apps" (they'll be red text instead of white to show you they are system apps)?
My point is do not backup or restore system apps (gmail, email, maps, etc..), only restore 3rd party apps that you have downloaded or bought from the market. As well, when restoring these apps that you installed or paid for, DO NOT restore their data, solely the app itself. This is my opinion from experience only.

Perhaps this is what I did wrong as I'm still finding some strange quirks. Sometimes it acts as if the syncing is manual. When I get home today I'll try re-flashing everything.
Thank you very much for the help. Sorry to be such a bother.
What is the logic behind this? I thought that was the main reason people used Titanium Backup? If you wanted to restore only the app, doesn't Market redownload it automatically for you?
I guess I'm just a bit confused here.

You are not a bother it is my pleasure!
My logic, which is often said to be very construed by my better half , is my experience over the last 2 years using TiBu. It really is just my opinion. Some restore data with no issues. That has not been my experience and ever since then, I don't do it. ymmv.
I think the rationale behind "not restoring the data" within these apps is for troubleshooting purposes. It cancels out another factor in trying to resolve issues. Restoring the data can and often does result in issues....idk why I'm not that well versed on it all, it's probably above my head.
I agree though that is what people pay for with TiBu, but I can't even begin to tell you how many devs I've seen say not to do it and that has been good enough for me. I also can't tell you how many posts I've seen over the last 2 years regarding issues where people restored their data and problems ensue.
I don't use the built in market restore feature that has always been the first thing I uncheck when doing a new flash.
Everyone has their own methods and they all vary in success. So nice to see so much variety!
What then, is your methodology when you do a new flash? This was one of my major concerns when I decided to start playing with rooting and roms. That every time I try something new, I would be back to customizing everything all over again. Which in turn would mean that I left most things "half-working".
I tend to stick to the same ROM once I find something I really like. In this case, it is AOKP. Unless the developer (Roman) says to do a complete wipe, I just do a "dirty flash" ......
And this is where I started giggling. Sorry, had to share.
