[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Nope I didn't though I should've haha...I flashed the custom B20 third eye that tgwaste sent me and the blue search bar for 20...all seems fine though

Edit: 1 small issue. I don't get a charge animation

Yeah it's usually little things like that. Not a biggie if you can live with it

This could be one of those questions I smack myself for but after I flash 21 do I have to do Franco's kernel again?

Just figured out why my battery life has suffered. I never turned off LTE after flashing. derpity derp.

Just flashed #21 and lost data. Doing a restore now to start over. Going to do a full wipe this time around.

Edit: All good after reflash.

OK. Can someone post a picture and tell me how to do this. I can't get it to work.

It's a flashable batt mod by zaphod, but he hasn't updated his post at rootz yet to go with build #21. Called "white number blue bar" located here, but not available for #21 yet. I tweaked it further and built one at the UOT Kitchen it looks like this

I'm about to update from 20 to 21. I have a couple questions though.

Im using Titanium to backup my apps. I should backup user apps only correct? Im assuming I dont backup "+ system data" since Im going to a new ROM.

And when I was on 20, I installed the transparent navigation bar mod, will that be an issue when flashing b21? Will it still be there or do I just reflash it after installing NovaLauncher?

As far as I know you can actually flash 21 right over 20. Just do a cache wipe, dalvik wipe, format system (under mounts and storage) . Then flash 21 and gapps.
Reboot , let settle.
Recovery and flash whatever mods or kernels you want and reboot.

Nova is included in the rom

It really varies some will say it's fine others say no way. From my personal experience I just back up apps (no system apps) and restore them without data. Many have no issues at all restoring data to apps though. Personal preference. Make a backup of your present #20 setup, then you'll have something to fall back on if restoring data borks anything.

You'll lose the transparent mod when you flash 21 over 20. You'll need to reflash the mod making sure you flash the "updated for #21" version of it if there is one.

I have TBU Pro and I do not see an option to restore with out data.

I wish there were a TBU user forum. I find the program to ba a pain in the arce to get with.

Someone tell me what the update.zip creation is good for.

OK, thanks for the confirmation guys. Phone is rockin' AOKPb21, booting right now.

*edit:

After booting, it said it was optimizing applications. When it finished, the phone booted up and looks just like it did on b20, except for the transparent bars. All my apps are still there. I didn't have to restore anything. I hope this amount of ease continues throughout all the AOKP updates.

I believe that to restore without data needs to be done individually. Batch mode only does with data.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

Good question - what is the update.zip good for? Only thing I can think of is making a flashable zip for when you are restoring off a full wipe

Member SecondShot iirc posted about the update.zip. I've never done it as I think it's almost as simple to just go to market and dnld it. What it does, is when you finish a new ROM flash and boot up you'll already have TiBu installed on your phone. I think... :D

When you do a batch restore, and you get to the screen that shows you all the apps you are about to restore, you have the options of Apps, Apps+Data, and something else I forget maybe just data?? It's right there near the top above all the apps and check-boxes.

It's because you didn't do a complete wipe aka wipe data/factory reset. You did a dirty wipe :p Means you done good chief! The small pop up that says "optimizing applications 1-1xx" will happen every time you wipe dalvik cache. It's normal and safe.

Now when you do a complete "clean" wipe aka factory reset/data wipe you won't have any of your apps and you'll have to restore everything.

When you wipe dirty you should wipe cache partition, format system, and wipe dalvik cache which is most likely what you did. imo of course. This is par for the course when upgrading the same ROM but between builds unless otherwise specified by the developer

Silly question, but can I flash this even when I flash a theme like Onyx? Or can it only be one or the other?

Well you can try it :p but it will certainly break something. Make a backup and try it is how I learn what to do and what not to do.

I'm very interested to see what quasimzia's deep blue theme is gonna look like and what sonny's vividis gonna look like

Hey guys, I'm at a hotel with questionable reception, and without my computer for the night...two things I'm running into. In the hotel room, my phone seems to be getting really hot, but I'm assuming it's because it's searching for a signal...but that's probably fine long term right? I'm keeping it near the front window where it's a little better and leaving tomorrow. The other thing is, I can't figure out why, but a couple of different times today I've seen my phone trying to re download build 21, and I stop it/delete it, but then it does it again. Anyone else? Or is it possible these are an update of some kind? Why would they download automatically? Sorry for the ramble...

Have you tried rebooting? I can't think of any good reason it would be trying to download repeatedly.

Okay...jealous of the crack flashers among us....been really happy with M2 but seem to be so far out of the loop its getting frustrating to watch you all. Before I go the daylies route...has there been any word on a M update yet? I was trying to see if there was anything posted but can't find anything....

I have to say that I've found the builds to be quite stable. So if that's your concern I don't think you need to worry too much. IMHO

Everyone seems to be ultra happy with how stable these have been...we have been so busy with a remodel in progress and wedding prep in the last several weeks, and several new programs being tested and deployed at work, I can't find the awake time to catch up...and stay caught up with how fast these are coming out!!!!. Just finally came to near the end of our remodel today, and hoping for some me time to come soon...like Sunday! so I can get back to nexy-land. Plus my home server took a crash course last week....lost all of my android/graphics work from the last 8 months...frustrating. but didn't want to change to daylies if an M was coming in the next few days.....on second thought i will prolly just make sure my TIBU gets done tonight and do a fresh 21 in the morning. Then just make sure I can take the time to keep it updated.

The plus to an update after you join us is that its an easy one cause it only requires a 'dirty wipe and flash' not the full onslaught like you'll have to do to come off M2.
