[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Something more sinister is at work here :p

Hopefully it's just a rogue app and nothing hardware related. Have you tried running another ROM recently with the exact same setup/apps you are presently running on B28? That is what I would do.

Did you do a Ti restore and were things hunky dory afterwards? Did this just randomly start happening or did you keep track of events/app installs/something different you've done that could have caused this?

I'm using the same apps I had installed with previous ROMs and it started happening soon after installing it. I've been trying to eliminate apps to isolate the problem but they are the same ones that I've always used without an issue. I just uninstalled ExDialer to see if it is somehow related to that.

I see. So did you do a TiRestore? If so, did it start to FC immediately afterwards? Or did it run fine for a few days then randomly start FC'ing on you?

If you did a TiRestore are you sure you only restored 3rd party apps? Did you restore any system app or data by accident (maps, voice, streetview, gmail, talk, etc...)?

EDIT: btw what kernel are you using?

I restored just user apps, nothing actually FC'ed, the phone just doesn't turn on after a while. Actually from the time I first wrote about my issue until now it has locked up again.

What kernel was that?

It might be time for a fresh complete wipe as much as a pita that is.

I actually had the same problem and punted back to Liquid. Ti did an update that kept locking up my app restores so i reverted to 4.8.2 and that fixed the Ti issues.

Haven't gone back to B28 to see if that remedied the general lockups.

Noob question, and probably incorrect, but if I flash this ROM, will it automatically revert back to 4.0.3 for me? I'm currently running 4.0.4, no ROM franco kernel

This is a 4.0.3 ROM so it'll be 4.0.3.

It doesn't revert anything. The number isn't separate from the ROM (like a kernel, more or less). Either the ROM is 4.0.3 or not.

Soon we'll have 4.0.4 (or 4.0.5, depending) custom ROMs. I just hope it isn't Blizzard Soon (TM)

Jack answered you, but I'll further the explanation in case.

This ROM is 4.0.3. You're presently on 4.0.4. Are you on the 4.0.4 radio too?

When you flash this ROM you will have Android 4.0.3, but if you're on the 4.0.4 radio this very moment, that will remain and only the Android OS version will change to 4.0.3.

Depending on what ROM you flashed to get 4.0.4 it might have also installed the 4.0.4 radio. Any flash of any version of AOKP will NOT change your radio version, rather only the OS version.

Ahh, back to good deep sleep battery numbers with putting it down @ midnight and picking it back up @ 8:15 AM with only a 7% drop.

Wifi on, LTE off. AOKP B28, Lean Kernel 2.7.2

Since you had the chance to run the stock kernel for quite a while on B28, what kind of drain did you see with it under the same "overnight" scenario?

Close to the same but with a touch more drain as in just over 1% an hr.

Other than battery I am seeing a smoother or faster running feel to the device on the 2.7.2.

On the stock kernel I seen one, and only one, hesitation to draw the home screen upon returning to it. This was the 1st time this has happened since release day on my device is why it stood out.

I ran it hard the other day using 3 & 4G navigation and Bluetooth and more for a long time and it held up pretty good. It did not get hot either.

Let me know if this screen shot panel is too small.

I installed what I thought to be a 4.0.4 package lol, unfortunately I don't know if the radios were installed or not, but I imagine they would be since I was getting 4G more in general.

And last night I installed this ROM, and I gotta say, I love the customizations available. I'll give this a few days, and if I feel battery life is suffering, I'll add on Lean Kernel.

Another question though, if I wanted to try out different ROMs, is it possible to make a backup of just my apps and data, but not the system itself. For example, I (albeit foolishly) made a Nandroid before installing AOKP, however I completely wiped data and everything. Is it possible to go from ROM to ROM without losing everything?

Titanium BackUp will work for just the apps and data. Some people are able to install all data for user apps (NOT system apps) and others have issues. I have had zero issues when loading data. (Knock on wood)

Is anyone able to back up the email account/login/password & settings so they will load back up after a wipe?

Just sayin here, although I have and use TBU, for those who don't want TBU, I also run Astro and found the backup on that little app to be a good one for what it is without all the bells and whistles of TBU.

Before a nandroid I will go the the backup part of Astro and select all the backed up apps and then choose menu/delete. Then go over to the the installed apps list and select them all and choose backup.
Then do the nandroid thing in Rom Manager.

This way my nandroid will have the most recent installed app versions.

Another thing I like about the Astro backup is it backs up all my nandroids in Rom Manager. If I do a complete wipe and then install Astro, and restore Rom Manager from Astro, all the nanny's are there, I then choose my nanny and go, BAM!

It's easy to find out if your on the .4 radio just go to settings> about phone> baseband version. If it says V.EK05/V.EK02 you're on the 4.0.2 radio. If it says V.EK06/V.EK04 you're on the 4.0.3 radio. If it says V. FA02/V.FA02 you're on the 4.0.4 radio.

Sure use Titanium Backup as BB's stated. You'll still have to set up your phone with ringtones, pop email accounts, and all your personalized settings.

I don't purchase Apps any faster than most but if some wonderful developer would find a way to export/import the ISC email POP3 & IMAP account setup I would pay a decent amount for it.

Thanks a ton! I am indeed on the .4 radio and got all my apps/data restored =)

Gotta say though I am really liking this ROM. So many tinkering possibilities =)

Looks like this ROM & Kernel Combo is going to be a Starred Nandroid for me.....

Did a 12:20 AM to 9:20 AM. 1% per hour. This time LTE was enabled and is not always optimum in the house. It may have not been a factor but it was selected none the less.

I woke up, looked at the phone and took screen shots. I guess I did it before the time could update from when it went to sleep. 12:20 was when I pressed the power button to put it to sleep.

When I scrolled down the list in BBS nothing else show in the graphs.
I did hear the Gmail & Text notifications come in so that may be the 350MHz you see.

Excellent idle drain. I've never used BBS, rather just check the %'age and uptime. Using M2 franco over the last 2 days and yesterday checked out my times and had 14.1 hrs uptime with 4.1 hrs screen time and 20 min voice calls. Wifi was 30% the rest a mixture of 3G/4G. M2 is sweet, diggin' it!
