[Verizon] [ROM] AOKP JB-MR1 Milestone 2 [4.2.2] (07.21.13) TORO

I installed Milestone 1 on a clean wipe and so far so good.

Coming from ics milestone 5, and it seems to be much smoother. Not sure how much is jelly bean and how much is improved aokp.

The biggest issue I had from ics is gone: the screen no longer stops sensing touches. I used to have to lock/unlock to re enable any touch recognition. Hasn't happened since I updated.

Now if only aokp backup worked.

Hey everyone, i've been limping along on my old DX for the last few weeks waiting for my replacement nexus so I've been away from the scene. I do have a few quick questions for you guys though:

My phone came loaded with 4.1.1 so no need to install the JB bootloader correct?

Should we be using the latest (10/11/2012) Gapps?

Which kernel is proving to be best on battery life with AOKP as of right now?

Thanks everyone, I've got a busy night of unlocking, flashing, restoring ahead.

Yes. Flash the new bootloader.

Yes. Use the new gapps

Aokp comes with lean kernel so start there. I'm pretty happy with it. I was happy with francos kernel as well.

+1 for flashing the JB bootloader. It's solved a lot of slow boot problems for a lot of people. I think your phone will probably already have it loaded since it's on 4.1, but it won't hurt anything to flash it over it.

Gracias everyone. Anyone play around with with the AOKPCB theme? I really love the look of it, maybe that's because I'm a huge nerd.

There is now a packaged .zip with 4.2's GAPPS inside. A separate one is available for Google Wallet. I can confirm the Google Wallet .apk works. The GAPPS takes FOREVER to download. Anyone got it going yet (or have a faster mirror)?

Works great.

How is everyone's battery life on Milestone 1?

Horrible. I'm watching it tick away like back in 4.0 days.

Coming from XenonHD, Xenon was laggy, but the battery life made up for it. Maybe battery life was great because it was laggy, but 16 hour days kind of made up for it.

Milestone 1 is blazing fast. Like it. But having to carry a second battery around now seems so last year. I find myself pluging it in to the charger once twice a day.

Just this morning I unplugged it from the charger, locked the screen, and lost 6% off the phone idle in 28 mins.

I just lost another 6% typing this message.

Sucks. Clean install.

Yep. Before Milestone 1 I was getting 16 hours...but now I'm not. I was running Franco's Kernel then, maybe that was it. Currently running the stock lean kernel that comes with the ROM.

I think the battery life was also shortened a bit further when I installed the 4.2 Google apps.

Has anyone tried flashing Franco's back on to AOKP and see if that fixes the battery issues?

Does anyone have a link to Franco's latest for the 4.1.2?
