[Verizon] [ROM] AOKP JB-MR1 Milestone 2 [4.2.2] (07.21.13) TORO

Noob question. I am on build 3, can i upgrade to build 4 without wiping my device? AKA i dont feel like reinstalling all my apps and stuff. Is there a way to get the next version? if so how?

Thanks, sorry if its a frequently asked question

You can dirty flash - wipe cache and dalvik cache. Flash ROM and gapps.

If there's any issues that arise that no one else is having but you, everyone here will tell you to do a clean flash. I haven't had any issues with dirty flashing AOKP in the past two months.

Really the only time I get major problems with dirty flashing is when I dirty flash between completely different ROMs. AOKP - Xenon HD for example lol.

Well I gave it a shot... we will see what happens booting now.

edit: Awesome sauce! Thanks man.

Hey all. Been awhile since I have been in the forums. Just installed JB5 and it took a little while for it to settle into my Nexus but now I don't have any real complaints. I did notice the same problem mentioned above with the wifi but it went away after a couple hours. Also, I use AVG antivirus and it has an option for keeping the phone awake longer that stopped that annoying habit my Nexus had of going to sleep after 30 seconds. All in all, I am loving JB now.

I am running build 4. Sometimes when I reboot my phone it takes a long time. It spends minutes on the Google logo before displaying the AOKP graphic. Then, when I reboot again, it's quick. Is there anyway to reduce the boot time? Thanks.

I updated to the jellu bean boot loader and that appears to have resolved this issue.

5 is laggy for me. Sometimes screen doesn't even respond to touch for several taps. I'm hoping 6 drops soon and fixes this.

Is anyone else experiencing this ^ ?

I asked because I made a nandroid of my ROM, did a complete clean wipe, installed AOKP B5 and am not experiencing this.

I did a clean wipe as well. I noticed some quirks withing a few minutes and rewiped and reinstalled. It didn't help.

It isn't unbearable and I really like AOKP so I will hold out for 6....if 6 is the same, I will revert back to 4 and live my life - I really enjoyed 4.

I should note that I always use Lean Kernel latest exp. @ 350mHz-1350mHz interactive governor.

Currently using CM faux123 kernel at the moment with JB build 5.

I'm hearing that using LeanKernel may help with the battery life. Do you guys think it's worth switching the kernel for battery life?

Yes! Been using Lean Kernel for almost a year. Best around, IMHO!

Have you tried a different kernel? Not all kernels play well with every phone.

Not with V5 - I've only used Franco's with it. I have used Lean before but with Xenon and it offered zero improvement that I could see.

I switched to Franco and AOKP at the same time. This combo was a big improvement for me over Xenon w/stock kernel or lean.

AOKP build 4 + Franco has definitely been my favorite so far. Not sure why I'm having such a difference with build 4 vs. build 5. I may just have to go back...or try JBSourcery (I've been peeking at that thread some and am tempted...)

Milestone 1 runs smooth again....but WiFi doesn't work! I turn it on and no icon ever appears. If I go into WiFi settings I can connect but functionally I stay on the mobile network.

Anyone else?
