[Verizon] [ROM] Codename Android for JB (updated 10/2)

I just tried adding my other Gmail account into the Email app and it worked fine. I'm on Xenon 6.0 but I don't see why it wouldn't work on Codename. Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just clean flash?

Xenon 6.0 is another ROM. I did not clean flash because I was told on this forum by "Colchiro" to do a dirty flash (Wipe cache, flash ROM/GApps). Anyone else on here know what's going on with the issue that I am facing with the "email" application?

I wipe cache/dalvik cache/system when I dirty flash. If you have issues, go back into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik cache. Still having issues, wipe cache/dalvik cache/system, reflash ROM & gapps. If STILL having issues, clean flash. STILL having issues after all that? Then whatever ROM you're trying to flash, it's just not that into you.

Whenever I've had issues with a ROM, a clean flash always fixes it. To each their own, but I flashed Codename last night and my other email addresses loaded fine no problem.

Hi,

I went into recovery mode. Wiped Cache, dalvik cache, battery stats, and then formatted system. Re-flashed Codename ROM, followed by it's GApps. Went into the "email" application and punched in my information and the screen still says "Waiting for sync. Your email will appear soon."

Next step, do a clean flash.

Hi,

I will clean flash later on. So, you used the email application where you can punch in numerous emails? How come it is working for you but not for me? I just wiped cache/dalvik cache/battery stats/formatted system/re-flashed Codename ROM & it's GApps.

When I flashed from Xenon last night, I did Factory Reset, Wiped Cache, and Wiped Dalvik Cache before flashing Codename and the Codename Gapps. Everyone's phone is different so it could just be that this ROM doesn't work well with yours.

So something was up with the built in Faux kernel not working on my phone. All kinds of waking up when the screen is off. Flashed over to Franco 230 and you can see the difference before and the after the flash (the restart)

Yea I gave up on the faux kernel a few minutes after I flashed the Rom. Like you, I flashed Franco and now am almost 24 hours in without a charge. Codename + Franco equals a KILLER Rom, very happy!

Got bored tonight so giving this a shot. Couple things I'm missing already are reflections on the soft keys and being able to change their color. Also, I can't find an option for number of screens , am I just missing it? I Only use a 3 screen setup. Tried restoring Apex Launcher settings but it didn't work either and I'm really not in the mood to set it all up again tonight.

On the plus side I like having the horizontal toggles back in the notification area. And I like having a persistent menu in the nav bar since I never use recents. That button was a total waste for me. Main thing I'm hoping for is stellar battery. Already flashed Franco 232 so we'll see how it goes.

I had some major issues with my gallery. It showed up and showed the thumbnail slots BUT they were all black. Even when I pulled up a single pic, it was black. I tried a clean flash as well and same thing. I had to go back to my Xenon update until I can figure out why I don't have gallery.

Hi,

I just did a clean flash of Codename for the second time and it resolved one of my issues with the "email" application always showing the "Waiting for sync" message. As of now, it has been resolved.

Unfortunately, my hotmail application from Play store will not work on Jelly Bean because Hotmail hasn't updated their application since April 2012, which does not support Jelly Bean.

Next step, I need to figure out how to use My Verizon Mobile as it is important that I control my talk/data limits.

My advice for you is to do a clean flash of Codename, because I am not facing any gallery issues.

Hi,

Thank you guys! Appreciate all the help. Got the "email" application to work. Next step, need to figure out a way to get the My Verizon Mobile to work and give my phone 24 - 48 hours to get used to Jelly Bean, before deciding on what kernel to use for the battery.

Why not use the data used app built into JB? (in settings). As long as you don't wipe data, it should be accurate after this month.

The developer has pulled this Rom from rootzwiki. He is releasing an update today, linking it via Twitter. I'll update the op when he does.

Hello,

New issues with Codename Android: Incoming calls can hear me, but I cannot hear them speak. This will happen randomly to some calls. So far it has happened with two calls. This happened twice to me at my home in which I have never encountered before.

I have done a clean flash for the second time which resolved the email issue I was facing.

What can this be? Will the new Codename Android update fix this issue?

WOW, Doc, you've got some bizarre issues over there. My Nexus isn't experiencing any of it. I have to wonder if maybe it's the kernel that your phone doesn't like. Have you tried a different kernel?

Hi,

I doubt that will be as accurate to My Verizon Mobile. In addition, I also like the convenience of tracking my talk minutes, instead of dialing #646# all the time.

I believe Verizon Wireless is responsible for this. They need to update their application to support Jelly Bean.

Hi,

Are you running Codename Android? I clean flashed it last night and decided to give it 48 hours to settle in before I jump onto a different kernel instead of the stock kernel I am running currently that comes with Codename Android Jelly Bean.

How would the kernel have an effect on the call quality?

It seems like if the mods over at RootzWiki have their way, CNA won't be allowed to post there and host their ROM anymore. They've done some pretty bad things in the past that have gone unanswered for...

Hi,

I just read on another website about Codename Android doing harm just as you mentioned on this thread. However, I could not find details on what the harm was? Is it something important that we should be aware of before flashing Codename Android Jelly Bean ROM?

Sorry, I am a beginner to Android and not sure of the past.

You would be surprised what a kernel will affect. Anything and everything can get squirrely. I'm trying to settle in with the franco 231. Not looking very good for battery life (but then again, I KILL my battery every day).

CNA has always had drama surrounding him... but he puts out a heckuva ROM! I used his TheUltimateDroid ROM on my OG Droid for YEARS... even after he disappeared for awhile. Used it until I retired her. And now he's back with a Nexus ROM, and what's not to love?

Well, you're having issues, Doc, that I'm just not seeing on mine. Your phone either really hates the ROM, or it hates the kernel.
