[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

Rich
uninstall handcent... reboot and try sending again. I think Handcent has been having issues on 4.2 roms and just having the app installed causing issue

You! You have a gift!

Uninstalled Handcent and rebooted. Chomp was still being a pain and enjoyed freezing a lot. Installed GoSMS and it seems like my SMS problem has straightened out.

I recently heard bad things about GoSMS but I have little choice so I'll work around the issues.

Thanks!!

I have had issues with handcent on several different JB roms. I can't say that it was specifically 4.2 though. I have issues sending MMS but I have recently given up hope on handcent fixing it. The strangest thing is that I get ghost messages from people. I have tried clearing the cache, clearing data, and uninstalling/reinstalling and it doesn't seem to fix it. I switched back to the stock messaging app.

+1

I'm using the stock messaging app with SMS Enhancer.

Hoo Boy - am I glad I check MD5s religiously! My first download of 4.5.5 was BAD!

So what's the sequence with this update thing?

BACKUP
WIPE
4.4.5
4.4.5 Update
Gapps
REBOOT

Would that be correct? :)

I used to use Gosms, but I had issues with it a few roms back. I have also found that the standard sms in Sourcery does and has everything I need and then some. It not only isn't broke it is very hard to beat.

Sourcerized! 4.5.6

Holy Smokes made the move to JBSourcery and it is Sweeeeeeeet!

Few questions as there are so many customizable settings I am working hard at figuring stuff out.

Is there a desktop landscape mode?

Saw another post about MD5, how do you check this to make sure the phone is in sync?

Again I am very impressed with this ROM, just not sure why I waited so long to get here....

turn your phone sidways and it will change to landscape. other than that not sure what you mean by landscape mode.

there are apps that will check the md5. The one i'm using is called "MD5 Checker"

and welcome aboard!

Thanks. Landscape works when I am within an app like Phandroid or using a browser but not when homed back to the desktop. It then changes to portrait and doesn't rotate.

Thanks again.

Only issue I can see so far is the camera freezes when moving from portrait to landscape or just moving around in general while the camera app is open. Going to try a different kernel and see if there's any improvement.

edit: running Popcorn v12 and it works great with the new rom in case anybody's interested. Also seems to have mostly cured the camera freezing thing. Still freezes momentarily when switching between portrait/landscape but it may have always been that way idk.

Clean or dirty flash for the update from 4.5 to 4.5.5?

The devs always say clean flash, and since it's a minor point upgrade (4.2.1 to 4.2.2), I'm tempted to agree with them. That being said, make a backup, do a dirty flash, and see what happens! Worst case is you wipe it and do a clean flash a few minutes later.

I did a clean wipe install and recommend it since this is a different Android version. Just sayin'...

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using SwiftKey Flow

EDIT: Okay, I am having a weird thing here...

Does Google Search not work with this ROM?

I hit the search microphone and it force closes. Worse: when I'm in my keyboard and long press the microphone button to get to speech to text, it not only force closes... it kills the keyboard! I can't enter any text without it f/c'ing the keyboard until I go back into Settings --> Language & Input and re-select the keyboard (SwiftKey Flow).

Can anyone here duplicate this?

EDIT EDIT: Fixed. It's not the ROM, it's Google Search. I went into Play and, sure enough, a Google Search manual update was available. Updated the app and it's working fine... both from the search bar and the keyboard. So if you get that symptom, update the app and it should work just fine :)

I am about to update to 4.5.6, oh I very recently switched to sourcery with 4.5 and I am a fan; my first custom ROM was codename so I am used to having a decent amount of customization in settings and am glad to find an adequate replacement. :) but as I am somewhat new to flashing ROMs, I am wondering can you do a full restore of system data in titanium, or is it recommended to just restore user apps and then manually redo settings?

never..ever....restore system data with titanium backup.... you will have issues, guaranteed!
