[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

just want to clear this up.
If the answer your looking for is to not wipe on a full rom release by me it wont happen.
So if your looking for the answer of yeah dirty flash make sure to direct it to t-dev because no matter how many times i tell him to stop telling people to dirty flash he wont so thats your best bet.

If it helps, I dirty flashed 2.3.5 from 2.3 and it's fine. Yes, re-flash Gapps. But as the development team has said: if you end up with problems, try clean flashing first.

That said, I have a curious issue that has persisted over several releases and clean flashes:

My bluetooth stereo headset's "play/pause" button hardly ever works. The other functions are okay, but to start the music I have to take out the phone, unlock it, go to my music player of choice and start the music.

I thought it was just the headset button until I began troubleshooting. I paired the headset with my wife's Galaxy S3 and it all works great! And it worked on other ROMs; only in recent versions did this crop up. If it helps, I have a Rocketfish RF-MAB2 headset.

Any suggestions on how to fix this is welcome... more of a nuisance than a critical "bug", but I thought I'd bring it up in case someone else has the same symptoms.

HMM its so hard to test with all the different stuff as we just dont have it.
i will definatley look and see if im missing something in the way of bluetooth headset stuff and see if we can fix it for ya.

Thanks

I have the same headset. Can't say that I've ever had trouble out of it but I haven't really used it in the last two weeks. Will give it a try and report back tomorrow night. I'm still on 2.3. Haven't had a chance to update.

Yes please check it and let us know. there was a change between 2.3 and 2.3.5 so checking on 2.3 than on 2.5 would be great.

the change on 2.3.5 was to support mms over bluetooth as requested by several users. i dont see why this would break it but possible.

Thanks guys .

Thanks for looking into this. Once I start the music on the phone, I can pause/play on the headset... for awhile. Then it seems to "time out" and render that headset function unusable again, and I have to use the phone. Then it works again from the headset. And I don;'t know how long that time is.

Power cycling the headset does no good... I still have to use the phone. It's a bizarre little booger, I tell ya :)

EDIT: Thanks for all the hard work you guys do! I sent you some late-night pizza money; I hope everyone will join me in sending $5-10 (or even more!) to the Sourcery team for the ROM will all love :D

But on previous versions as soon as you put it up to your ear the screen would shut off, no matter if the speakerphone or dial pad were on. The only time this situation arises is when u dial an 800 number, like if ur calling tech support for some reason.

I really prefer this way but will look at it maybe we can make it an option.

Just wondering if u guys were able to get this in as an option or even a downloadable mod? Thanks.

O ok well just let me know whenever u do. Thanks again.

OK weve talked about this so i do understand what your looking for.

did this ever work as you want on sourcery.

I am looking at the changes weve made and reverted a few and tested and have same result.

if this worked in JB do you know what version.

I just cant see where this would of changed since JB of sourcery.

THanks.

I just restored to a backup i had of 2.1 and tried it, and u r right it didn't work there either. I'm sorry I guess for some reason I thought it did work at one time on sourcery. Well thank you for looking into it. I'll still be using this rom but if u ever decide to make it a mod or something let me know.

if you get a chance to test other roms and find one it does work on ill look at it.
i just dont remember it ever doing it. but i tried several things and just dont see where i would fix it.

Request - how about an inverted sms/mms app kinda like what bakedbean rom has going over there...theirs is somewhat amazing...

I tested it with Google Play and Slacker Radio. I used the headset for about two hours today and play/pause worked every time. Sitting here watching the debates just now and I"m still able to hit play and start the music app back up after more than 30 minutes of inactivity. I'll probably get a chance to use it a little more tomorrow before loading 2.3.5.

Thanks Eagle, I was hoping it was something tweaked in the A2DP protocol and not just me :p

I don't use IRC and don't have a client, so I guess I get to pay the price by waiting... unless you want to shoot me a dropbox folder link or something. I'll happily be your 2.3.6 guinea pig:

EDIT: Yayyy I found a web client, how do I get the ROM when I'm there?

EDIT EDIT: NVM, got it :D

EDIT 3: Okay Eagle, I flashed up to 2.3.6 and, I am sad to report, the issue persists. I thought it was fixed until I powered the phone AND the headset down and started from an OFF state. Powered up the phone, then turned on the headset. They paired, I repeatedly hit "play"... and nothing happened. I even un-paired everything and started from scratch.

Once I actually hit "play" on the phone, it'll work. I can pause and play from the headset. But it's that initial command that's missing a beat somewhere.

Thank you for your diligent efforts in trying to resolve this... I seem to be the ONE person with the issue, though, and I understand if you have other bugs to squash. I'll just have to physically press the "play" button on the phone if I want to hear music. Oh the HORROR!

I guess I didn't fully understand your issue before. So just now I turned the headset on and it connected Phone still in my pocket and pressed play and nothing happened. I had to pull my phone out to start the app and then no issues.

In my truck all I have to do is press fast forward and it starts the Google music app every time. Haven't tried the same with my head set yet.

Just to chime in: I have the same happen on 2.3 with my phone. My headset (Backbeat 903+) work fine if I open the app, but it won't start it from nothing. Also it "times out" as well if I pause it for too long. I wasn't aware this was abnormal. I would love that functionality!
