[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

PROFIT!

Everything is set up and (apparently) running smoothly. Apps restored through TiBU, Wallet set up, Music set up, screens set up, etc. No hiccups yet.

Other than weak BT signal (spotty connection even right here next to the phone!), I am very pleased thus far.

Thanks for posting a great ROM - I look forward to exploring it!

( With some Church thrown in there, of course. How I'm going to concentrate on anything but my Nexus during it I have NO idea :D )

EDIT: Hold on, I didn't see the Wifi / BT fix in the OP. Lemme try that...

Hey JB, are you noticing weak WiFi? I even flashed the WiFi fix. I'm getting bad reception at the edge of my network.
Not at all it is the exact same as it was on aokpb40 ICS. The wifi fix by mwalt2 is built into all the present versions of the 4 JB roms in the OP. I have read some people on the new fangled dual band routers have to enable both bands in your wifi settings on your phone maybe?...

Awesome glad your up and running safely :)

I don't know of any BT fix just the wifi fix and you shouldn't have to flash that as it is built in. I have read an awful lot of folk saying BT is kind of weak. After all, this is a port and there should be low expectations for a 100% perfectly functioning JB ROM :p

Also, try unpairing and pairing again to see if it fixes any BT issues

And I completely borked the OP trying to add hide tags and what not. Had to re-write the whole darn thing :p and I can't remember if I left anything out besides mwalt2's wifi fix which we shouldn't need any longer.

If anyone sees something missing from the OP that used to be there please let me know

Ive given up on this port :( I LOVE Jelly Bean, but this port is not that great on battery, in fact its horriable, 4-5 hours for me  and it runs HOT HOT HOT all the time. Back to AOKP for me :bebored:

Understood: but for a port, this thing makes a heck of a daily driver! My phone is on my holster pretty much all day so BT range isn't much of an issue unless I'm charging the phone (which I'm doing a LOT of today, considering I just flashed JB and am playing with it). I usually got 60-100 foot BT range on ICS; lucky to get 1/3 that with this ROM.

But like you said: it's a PORT. No doubt when AOSP is released and the devs really grab hold of it, ROMs will come out that will correct this issue.

I am thus far very pleased with Jelly Bean. Google Now isn't doing much for me, and no: I don't track the cattle market :p

If we don't get some rain soon, ranchers all over will have to sell off cattle. If that happens, buy meat while it's cheap and stock up, folks... it'll be through the roof this winter.

Holy cow, been gone a few days and all this news. I'm wanting to load up JB but have some concerns, mostly with battery life. I don't have access to a charger during the day so I want to make sure I can get through the day with moderate usage. So how bad is the battery life? I've read some people say 5hrs on a charge and some people have no issues.

There are a few different ROMS out, which is the one people are going with?

Any issues with App compatibility?

I think thats all for now, backing up my device as I type.

60-100 feet??? Jesus Christ I had no idea Bluetooth had that kind of range! Most phones I've had, the Bluetooth connection starts getting flaky after about 10 feet.

Granted, I have no reason to have that kind of range. The only time I use Bluetooth is in my car for handsfree and my computer for BT audio. That's about it.

Well, Demache, I can put the phone on the charger in my bedroom (front of the house) and walk to my mailbox across the street (about 80-100' I would guess) and rock on with my BT headset... only breaking up a little if I turn my head the wrong way at that distance, but never un-pairing or disconnecting.

If it makes any difference, I'm sporting Rocketfish RF-MAB2 stereo headset. Maybe it's just got a really good receiver. But my old Motorola S-9 and S-10 did about the same with my OG Droid.

10 feet???

EDIT: In response to the other question about ROM & app compatibility: I am running Jelly Belly and have found ONE app that consistently crashes. Beaver.

Don't snicker. I prefer to use that browser for online banking and ordering because of its security (no history, cookies, nothing). I sent a crash report; it may be a general JB incompatibility or something related just to this ROM. Either way, it's the only thing I've encountered so far that won't work. Dish Remote Access works, YouTube works, everything just works! :)

OK my battery life seems decent. I am coming from liquid's ROM which I love. No stats on the battery life but I don't feel the need to be plugged in all the time. I am using the JB 1.6 ROM right now. Light flow has an issue with jelly bean but the developer emailed me back and he is working on it. I had one game not working which was reversi but I think they updated as well. ROM manager can be glitchie for me nut if I boot up in recovery mode all is good. The 1.6 ROM is amazing though. No major issues.

Thanks for the feedback. Are you using the stock Kernel that comes with 1.6 or a different one?

No joke. I've have a USB Bluetooth dongle on my desktop PC, Bluetooth on a Windows tablet PC, and 4 different cell phones and my Kenwood car radio. They all start having intermittent Bluetooth connection issues at about that length. You're lucky if all you get is a little stuttering. Forget about going through walls, heck, make sure there is a line of sight between the two devices else there is no way your going to have a connection that doesn't start breaking up. In fact, the position of my legs can cause stuttering between my tablet and desktop PC 4 feet away.

The fact that this behavior is exhibited on devices from several manufacturers (non-phones, dumbphones and smartphones alike), there is definitely something Bluetooth hostile in my local area.

Just using the stock one that comes in the ROM. Plus this ROM has the boot loop issue fixed so no fears of a soft brick. I used a different ROM the other day and had to unroot my phone to fix it. I am loving this ROM. And Google now is awesome

You had the all too common no deep sleep issue. Battery life is really excellent on the jelly belly build, easily matching anything ICS I've run. The fix is in the OP, 3rd option if you decide to give it another try.

The jelly belly version is the way to go imo. Try the stock kernel it's really good. Check the OP for deep sleep fix when you run into it. All 4 JB roms in the OP suffer from it in a most random way.

If I can ask, how do I know that the deep sleep issue is resolved? Anything over 0%? CPU Spy says my phone today has 12% deep sleep (been flashing it and playing with it all day - NO COMMENTS from the peanut gallery! ;) ).

Is 12% good? Is it low? Heck if I know.

Best way to see is to not be using the phone. It won't show deep sleep if you're constantly playing with it :p

So set your phone down during dinner and before doing so reset the timer in CPU spy. Check it out after dinner. It should read very high deep sleep, upwards of 90% or more.

I suppose if I'm streaming music over BT it won't be in deep sleep even in standby, right? Same with Clock mode at night (it's my bedside clock all night).

Hmm that I don't know. I would think it could still sleep doing those tasks, but I'm not sure. This is the first time I've ever used CPU spy as I've never been concerned with ICS roms and kernels not deep sleeping because battery life has always been so good. Jkc120 seems like a good person to ask about CPU spy you could PM him for more info.

And actually chief I think you find out much quicker if it is deep sleeping by just doing that short dinner test I mentioned. You'll also know if its not deep sleeping because the battery goes bye bye quickly!

Timers reset, in standby, unplugged. We'll see in 15 minutes if she went nite nite or not with Google Music streaming by BT...

EDIT: 15 minutes and NO deep sleep at all. Now I'll try it without the BT streaming. Headset OFF.

EDIT EDIT: ANOTHER 15 minutes. 19% deep sleep! I'll take that :D

I don't think I am having the deep sleep issue because I use be weather with GPS on and I locks down every 30 minutes for me. So the GPS lock isn't keeping my phone awake.

I really enjoyed the Jelly Belly ROM but I couldn't restore data to any of my apps using My Backup Pro. Any app where I restored data, it would immediately FC the second I launched it.

I've heard other people have been successful, so I re-downloaded Titanium Backup (which I always felt was a superior product anyway) and will try again.

Just installed JB but have real problems. First of all I was never prompted to sign into google. My data bar is gray so its not connecting to the VZW network. The browser won't launch nor will Gmail or a few other apps and pressing home does nothing. Any idea's what went wrong? I used the 1.6 ROM

I know it's a pretty basic question, but did you wipe /data and /system before flashing?

Do it again, just make sure you're following the directions (format data AND format system).

I've done the install twice in the last hour so I know it works :D
