Help Version Update?

perhaps by the numbers that were linked to the indulge first are the ones getting it first. So if you got your indulge a month ago youre getting the update before someone who got the indulge a week ago. All speculation since we really dont know how it's being distributed.

Nope, that's also not the case. I got my Indulge about a month after it came out, and someone I know who got their Indulge a month after me already received the update.

ok so what's the command i use with the abd shell to get the SPC to force update using ##data#?... I just spent 2 hours at a metro store trying to get my sisters unrooted full bloatware indulge updated, to no avail ofcourse. The guy didnt know what i was talking about, so he called someone and told him to enter the whole sim card number into the spc box, that didnt work. He reprogrammed the phone twice, still no update, after about 6 phonecalls and line transfers, back to square 1, now know one he's calling know's wth he's talking about. so i told him i'm leaving and he asked for my number to call when that last guy called him back. Well about 20 minutes later he calls and says "the guy didnt know what i was talking about either, and said to go to the corp. store and let them try a few things or have them replace her phone. I really dont want to do that i'd rather just use the FOTA via ##data#. Any info please?

(PS me and my sister live in the same household) my phone got the update(i'm rooted/bloatware removed) and hers did not(unrooted no apps deleted)

THANK YOU

(also i'd rather just see if you people had any info, because it is very apparent that my self, and all of you know 10x more then these people, and i really dont want to spend 5 hours explaining this to another metro employee only to have him call and try to explain to another deskjockey who still wont know wtf is going on)

Also i would like to commend this metro employee for his time and paitence, he was very nice and, it wasn't him having the problem understanding the issue it was the people he was calling that didnt know. This post is in no way me complaining about metro employees, as i said i really didnt mind being up there shooting the shit with the guy, and trying to figure it out ( i use to work in my fathers metro store). I just dont want to spend the TIME explaining it again to another, especially if i have to drive further out of my way.

The command was posted in #8 on page 1 this thread, but I believe there is a universal SPC code of 587846 that also works on all Samsung Indulge phones. Unfortunately trying to force the update didn't work for me.

Since I received the update, I haven't noticed much of a difference.

At 1:30 PM, I took a fully charged phone out to a 4G area. At 3:30 PM the battery was down to 65%. I shut the 4G off, and in between made 2 phone calls, had to shut the 4G off again, and 3 txt msgs and had to shut 4G off again. Took a couple pics and at 7:30 PM, the battery went dead.

It appears that when in 4G it is constantly searching and just draining, actually sucking the life out of the battery.

The battery does charge quicker with the 4G turned off.

Phones have come a long way but the batteries have not......

I took my phone off at 10:30am and as of 12midnight battery reads 69% .
I would confirm you received the full update if you received it all.

Look at the first post in this thread and make sure your baseband version matches it if not you haven't gotten the update which I'm still waiting for. Hopefully it will improve my battery life cause I'm liking my 4G signal staying at a constant 2-4 bars rarely getting to 1 or below.

After a 20 minute phone call with those goons, He told me the update is set to push through to my phone June 1st. He told me he couldn't manually push it through, on June 1st is when it's set for my phone.

FYI to everyone. Corporate can push the update to your phones. Enough phone calls and issues and bugging a store eventually they will fix it and get the update to you.

Thats how I got mine.

Unfortunantly the update doesnt work.

Why doesn't the update work? Most people are pleased. What's wrong with yours?

Which part of the update didn't work?

I feel so fortunate that my update is working well.
Especially the battery issue.

It appears that some people are getting updated and still not seeing any improvement.
Is it possible people may have received an incomplete or botched update?

The update failed to install properly on many phones. There are people who are pleased with the update and come to find out they haven't even gotten it ;)

PDA,CDMA AND LTE version change to the updated version + increased phone performance + Being pleased with performance = Properly received update.

PDA,CDMA AND LTE version change to the updated version + lack of increased phone performance = Improperly installed update or possible defective phone

You are certain the radio updates are intended to improve performance? Care to cite your source because from what I know they were more focused on users perception of the connection, as in keeping the connection status logo on LTE longer.

Ive been doing measurements and so far battery improvements seem to be within the margin of error and my data speeds are lower on average.

Who knows how accurate the message was but the OFFICIAL internal document sent within MetroPCS only states "Handset will display 4G icon at all times when connected to the 4G network. While powered on, handset will reconnect to the 4G network after it loses connectivity. Version of the LTE modem will display correctly"
That sounds nothing like battery or speed or heat improvements but rather less "roaming aggressiveness" as in preventing it from switching to 1x if the LTE signal drops

I figured some one would question my factual opinion. "Attempt of humor"

It seems that someone is always trying to disprove a good thing .I certainly don't think the update is a 100% fix.I have read the official and unofficial memorandum of the update and I understand what it says.I feel confident that this memorandum was simplified so that the non technical level associates would be more able to understand with little effort.Because we don't know exactly what the update was issued for, we do have our personal experience to reflect what the update has done for us.I returned my phone 4 times due to LTE 4G issues before i received a semi working phone and after the update my perception of update was better.
However, the users perception is only one aspect of the update,Despite the other points of interest referred to in the memorandum, I have had a personal experience of triple the battery life with 4G on all day.I still have the same download speed and battery charges much faster after update.

That to me = Increased performance.

I am wanting everyone to know that there $300 phone is fixable and there is hope for this phone after update.

I went to my local Metro corp store today.

They denied the existence of an update and essentially told me that I was smoking crack. "We would have heard of it if there was one, and we haven't".

I showed him the Metro docs on the FOTA update, and he said they were forged.

WTF?

He also blamed the poor battery life on Android itself and said "All Android phones have sucky battery life." When I explained my Droid X has no such problems, he blew it off as well.

It's like that here in Michigan too... every single store I've gone into all of the people " including management " stare at you like you are nuts.

I directed them to the online details about the Indulge update and they were dumbfounded.

It's pretty sad that a bunch of technical websites have even reported on this as well and a huge percentage of workers at Metro don't even know about it.

METRO....THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY YOUR " FLAGSHIP PHONE " you should treat it as such!!!!

I call metropcs and the representative was familiar with the new update I can't wait to get mine I'm in a dead zone tampa bay area area code 727 I sure hope it tethering speeds I'm pretty desperate I even ordered 1 of those cellphone stickers I know everyone says they do not work but I have to find out for myself they're only like 2 dollars anyway the metro pcs lady said that she just found out 2 days ago herself that the updates were coming

The thing that has me confounded even more than the Metro employees not knowing about the update is the fact that it's taking so long for it to be distributed.

Yeah same here, I even spent like 30+ mins on a phone call yesterday with metropcs asking 2speak with his manager then asking 2speak with his manager and so on... until I got as high as they'd let me get and all 4of them said there's no such update, only the Ascend has an update and thats it. The last guy even started getting pissed off at me lmao!! I kept firing off at the guy with issues with the phone and how its a $430 piece of &*^%$ lol!! He said the sites showing the update are not theirs and therefore they are all fake and misinformed, and if there was an update that metro would send a txt letting everyone knw one is coming. He also said the indulge has no issues or a recall would've been done and this is the first he's heard of anyone having a problem, so I need 2get a new battery and phone blah blah blah...

Yeah... they are fake updates!! lol Gotta laugh at that one. Funny thing is how disinterested they seem to be....even when you tell them that there IS an update for the phone.

I have given up on it... if i get it ...it get it. If not, by the time I get it ...a new LTE phone will be out in August and I'm selling this thing.

P.S. Actually I am gonna mod a battery cover that has a built in fan ... just for the heck of it lol.. Like a big battery operated one hanging off of the back of the cover pointed at the phone n send a pic to Metro's Head quarters to give them an idea of what is needed to keep the phone cool.
