Root Very disgruntled

Root didn't mess up your phone, your phone just doesnt like your ROM/kernel combo.

For proof, flash the stock ROM.

Haha! It was the stock rom and problems associated with it, that led me to root in the 1st place! All the issues I've had with root (I bricked my 1st evo by flashing radios, and not reading fully), and I still would never go back to stock!!

Good luck man! Personally...I find cm7 to b quite glitchy... if you really wanna go back to stock.... maybe try a froyo stock rom.... at least on the stock froyo, everything worked well.....

If you realy want the phone the way it was I would just flash back to the latest OTA rooted rom with the stock kernel. I must say that this was the first OTA my daughters evo got (not rooted) that realy did fix everything including battery. She is getting 8 to 10 additonal hours of heavy use totaling like 16 hours on 1 charge. Do this but stay s off and rooted so you can run the rooted apps. S on or s off is going to have no effect on anything except what you can do with the phone. Just my 2c.

Also make sure if you are using an AOSP rom like Deck 1.3d or CM7 to only use an AOSP kernel like Tiamat or Salvage Zen. If your using a Sense rom like MikG or Tommeytomatoes Classic, use a Sense kernel like Chopsuey 9.2.7 or Freedom.

Since you mentioned you went to CM7, if you made a Titanium Backup of all the apps and data if you try to just restore all the HTC sense widgets won't play nice with CM7.

You want to make sure you only restore market apps for the most part not system apps as they don't get along with all different systems.

Hope you get it resolved. MikG3.0, Tommy Tomatoe or the new OTA Rooted rom are all very stable and run well.

If you want lightweight then try NoLimits06's rom. It has most things that aren't needed removed. It's fast, light and has great battery life.

Holy sh!t!!! this post brought the attention of a couple of mods?!? Slug, you bear the name of my favorite rapper, but man... i havent seen you post on a E4G post in quite some time(if ever b4)... nice to see you 'round holmes :D btw, yes the E4G is still a bad ass machine and is still kickin ___ and not givin a crap about the names LoL :D

Thanks everyone that posted, I needed some time to calm down. I just loaded a nandroid I had from awhile ago and have been dealing with lag/reboots/etc waiting to have some time to flash a different ROM.

I think I'm going to stick with Mik3. I use my latitude/navigation/gps on a daily basis and don't want to have to be trying to tweek it constantly to get it to work with the GPS fix.

Did Mik3 come out with an updated version of his ROM today/yesterday? If so, is this the download link: MikG v3.0 [12/17/2011] How do I confirm that the download was good? Does he have the newest update for download yet? If so, where do I get that?

I'm just going to wipe everything, factory reset and start over. Just load Mik3 and GAPPS and not mess with a kernel for awhile.

Hey there!

No prob, glad you came back. I haven't heard that the update is out yet. might be out as we speak though.

One thing, you will not need to flash Gapps with Mikg3.0.

I think that is the version of 3.0 that I am running now. Are you going to dl it with your pc and then transfer it to the phone? I think you could check the Md5 of the file and compare it with what you dl, I have had very few bad dl's though.

Let me know if you want to do that checking, I will try to help you figure it out. should be good though.

Good luck, read up on what the guys said, Like MB's directions, and remember not to restore any system apps with TB!

Thank you!

Yes, I would be downloading from my computer and then transferring to my cell phone. What do I have to do to check it?

If i wanted to keep up with when the new Mik3 comes out, where should I be

Thank you!

There will be a thread for it in this forum. Many here are waiting for it.

Or stalk the MikMik forums. But if it goes to one it will be mentioned within 10 minutes at the other I'm sure.

Thank you!

I had a simple app to do it with at one point but never had a prob so I misplaced and forgot it.

Check out this link though. http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/138831-verify-your-files-md5-checksums.html

Some filemanagers do it too, I have read, can't remember which one though.

edit: duh, Astro does it... :)

edit 2: Here is what the md5 was reported to be at the thread, 2nd post. 0e5ff2ef1adcd8167c87b8aac2950415

First of all thats why we are here to help. We exist here for that sole purpose. :D

MikG seems to be the favorite and the most stable from what I've heard. I'm an underdog at heart so never do the popular things I'm just wired differently thats all :D:p

DO NOT FLASH GAPPS WITH MIKG Gaps is only needed for AOSP ROMS not for Sense ROM's. Gapps is already included in those. Flashing Gapps may not do any harm but then again if could really screw things up especially if there are version conflicts

Never feel like your asking a dumb question either. We here feel the only dumb question is one that is never asked. If you are not sure of something ask we will provide you with an ANSWER not a "didn't you do a search" seriously we are here to help you not condemn you.

Per mikmik just a but ago...

sorry for the delay guys... i had to have a few things tested before release...
it is now 730pm over here...
i should have the release out for u guys in 2 version... 1 will full wipe your stuff, the other wont (but must come from mikg and not another rom).

please consider this..this is coming from a LONG TIME CM7 USER!!!

so,I AM HARD CORE CyanogenMod..have always been...i found sense roms to be TERRIBLE ON MY BATTERY.CM7/Tiamat combo always my choice, thanks to OcnBreeze...BUT,i recently flashed the latest OTA 4.67 with chopsuey kernel/stock kernel..and let me just say, this ROM replace my phone rom (boot manager 8+ ROMs on sd card)...this ROM is BEST BATTERY LIFE ive had with ANY other sense roms..everything works PERFECTLY as if you never tampered with it. gps, mms,no lag,720p,just EVERYTHING works..(add quicksettings mod to give it that sense 2.1 feel and convienience..also 4-in-1 reboot for added convienience)

if you want to have your phone back to how it was, this is my suggestion..i PROMISE you wont be sorry.hope this helps!and sorry bout your luck..loko at the brightside, you didnt brick a phone like SOME people is this community  (me)lol so your doing good so far..patience will pay off,WE PROMISE!

Thanks for the info! Is the OTA 4.67 a ROM I can flash? If so, where can I get it? For those who have installed the new Mik version, how do they like it?

The new MikG 3.1, which has a thread, is based on the new OTA 4.67.
It has what looks to me as the same tweaks and options as MikG 3.0 haD . It's just based on the newest software version 4.67.

Or there are a few other 4.67 Roms posted here. The Nitrous one

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ous-1-3-3-accelerate-your-evo-twin-turbo.html

the NoLimit06 Rom.

Diablo 67's new 4.67 Rom
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-0-1-custom-4-67-651-3-update-02-14-12-a.html
and a bunch of others.

If you want something that looks totally stock but has some options with the ability to delete the apps you don't want there is the new Optimized OTA 4.67.

Also a thread here for that.

Just wanted to add the newest 4.67 to be thrown into the ring. Looks very nice.

Naters

Ok, so I flashed Mik3.1. This is how I did it:
1. I downloaded the Mik3.1 file and ran the Vudu Script MD5 checker to make sure the download was good. I moved it to the SD card and checked it again.
2. I did a nandroid backup.
3. I moved the nandroids, dtapps2ds-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed, PC36IMG (do I still need this if I already have Amon Ra installed?), ZZZVR_SUPERWIPE, and MikG-v3.1-signed to my computer.
3. I partitioned my SD card again so that I could have 2048 for internal storage rather than 1028. I upgraded ext2 to ext3. I did not move everything from my SD card because I've already pulled off pictures and I want a nice clean new everything.
4. I did "Wipe ALL userdata/factory reset"
5. I wiped cache/dalvic cache/data/sdext 3 times.
6. I put newest nandroid, dtapps2ds-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed, PC36IMG, ZZZVR_SUPERWIPE, and MikG-v3.1 - signed back onto the SD card.
7. I flashed superwipe.
8. I flashed MikG-v.3.1
9. I rebooted.

Did I miss anything?

Looks good to me.

regarding dtapps2ds-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed, I understand that is for DarkTremors, a2sd. You should find that you do not need to flash that with this rom as it is already supported.

as for the PC36IMG file, you will want to rename it if you keep it on your card to keep the phone from finding it when you boot.

Thank you!! If I don't need to use Dark Tremors, what do I need to do to reinstall apps to ext3, or is that all done automatically?

Also, this is the first time I've reloaded a new ROM and it didn't freeze on the first reboot on both the white HTC boot screen and ROM boot screen. So far so good I guess.

Now then, the only way I know to 'see' that the apps are on the sd ext is with Titanium Backup (pro)

When I open the app, at the bottom, there are 4 lines that show how memory is being utilized,

Systom Rom:
Internal:
SD card:
SD card (a2sd): Mostly empty but being used.

Green bars show the usage. The phone, in settings, will report various things, but I understand it might be inaccurate. A2sd supposedly 'fools' the phone. It creates a symbolic link in the phone to the app on the sd card and the phone seems to actually think it is still on the phone.

Systom Rom:

SD card (a2sd): Mostly empty but being used.

Using Titanium backup I'm seeing

Systom Rom: 367 MB (17.2 MB free)
Internal: 446 MB (383 MB free)
SD card: 13.9 GB (13.6 GB free)
SD card (a2sd): 1.91 gb (1.79 GB Free)

Look right? I've only got a few apps beyond what Mik3.1 came with now installed

Yes! looks great to me.

Be a good idea to make a nandroid at this point too.

edit: Oh, and did you see how I spelled system? :)

Nice. Quick question for you - any chance you'd think about changing the title of the thread? I know you were very disgruntled and frustrated at the time of posting, but I hope we've been able to make you feel better about being rooted :).

I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the thrill and freedom of rooting because they just looked at the title of the thread without reviewing its content. Just a thought :).
