Root [Virgin Mobile] Firmware Update

If you're not worried about update just hold off and see what Jerry comes up with. He's working on the new build of Victorious and it should have update in it.

Since ur rebuilding victorious from this, I dnt really need to do all of this update stuff, I can just wait..right?

So I am completely stock and when I restore g60madman's TWRP backup it goes thru the restore process, reboots and is exactly the same as it was before the restore. WTF am i doing wrong?

g60madman's backup is a backup of the stock ROM, so yeah, if you were already stock I imagine your phone would look about the same after you restored from his files. I don't think his images even overwrite /data, so your installed apps might all still be there if you didn't do a factory reset.

Jerry's instructions assume that someone has installed a custom ROM (i.e. Victorious), and therefore needs to go back to stock before receiving the factory update. If you were already stock, I imagine you could skip the g60 restore, so more like:

Note, I have not tested this and don't make any claim that it will work properly--these are just Jerry's instructions with the "restore to stock" steps stripped out:
  1. Download update_SPH-L300_MC1_to_MG5-no-props.zip and put on your sdcard
  2. Backup all your apps with TitaniumBackup (just in case)
  3. Do updates in settings
  4. Boot into recovery
  5. Install the update_SPH-L300_MC1_to_MG5-no-props.zip
  6. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
  7. Reboot system
  8. Say yes if prompted to fix root
  9. Update everything in settings again?

Again, haven't tested it, but I think that would work.

I tried that and it errors out when i try to install update_SPH-L300_MC1_to_MG5-no-props.zip.

Guess I'll just have to wait for a new victorious with the update included.

This worked for me like a charm. When I went back to check the firmware update in system it told me it finalized the update and no new updates available. Thanks for the help.
