Since ur rebuilding victorious from this, I dnt really need to do all of this update stuff, I can just wait..right?
So I am completely stock and when I restore g60madman's TWRP backup it goes thru the restore process, reboots and is exactly the same as it was before the restore. WTF am i doing wrong?
g60madman's backup is a backup of the stock ROM, so yeah, if you were already stock I imagine your phone would look about the same after you restored from his files. I don't think his images even overwrite /data, so your installed apps might all still be there if you didn't do a factory reset.
Jerry's instructions assume that someone has installed a custom ROM (i.e. Victorious), and therefore needs to go back to stock before receiving the factory update. If you were already stock, I imagine you could skip the g60 restore, so more like:
Note, I have not tested this and don't make any claim that it will work properly--these are just Jerry's instructions with the "restore to stock" steps stripped out:
- Download update_SPH-L300_MC1_to_MG5-no-props.zip and put on your sdcard
- Backup all your apps with TitaniumBackup (just in case)
- Do updates in settings
- Boot into recovery
- Install the update_SPH-L300_MC1_to_MG5-no-props.zip
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache
- Reboot system
- Say yes if prompted to fix root
- Update everything in settings again?
Again, haven't tested it, but I think that would work.
I tried that and it errors out when i try to install update_SPH-L300_MC1_to_MG5-no-props.zip.
Guess I'll just have to wait for a new victorious with the update included.
