Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] [Recovery][VM]CWM 6.0.4.8 Touch for the LG Optimus F3

The stock recovery will force a factory reset every time.

Uh... just checked recovery after attempting to use the .cmd and it was stock. Selected reboot now and wasn't factory reset.

EDIT: I'm also apparently not connected to 3G or 4G despite having full service bars and being in a known 4G area. I just managed to force the V6 update so we'll see how it goes.

Ran the installer for the recovery. Can't boot into recovery using the Volume + and Power Button. Phone just boots as normal. Any other way to boot into recovery?

No other way for our f3 variant. "Reboot Recovery" works for the metro-pcs and not the key combo, but for us it FR on boot...weird since these phones are so closely alike. Did you try it from power-on, just hold combo until prompted to release. The key combo on reboot method can be tricky at first. You might also try holding the home key too. A couple of members said they had to use the extra key to enter recovery. I haven't figure out that quirk yet but hey as long as it works.

For Virgin Mobile F3 phone's you would hold Volume Down, and The Power Button.

That worked. Funny how all the posts I read on how to boot into recovery stated to hold Volume Up + Power.

Appreciate the clarification.

Actually my OP says " vol- (+) pwr button". The minus sign on "vol" means; in the down position. Anyway glad to hear you got it working. :)

gherkaul,

I've noticed that this recovery doesn't allow you to use adb while in cwmt. The older version did.

When I type adb shell I get the following error:
error: insufficient permissions for device

I was about to nuke my boot image to attempt to get fastboot to appear. Nervousness aside I was sidelined because of this issue. Would you happen to know why?

ADB is working fine xclusive, no code changes have been made since I released it and it's the only recovery out with adb support, btw. What I can't figure out is how to cause that error. I really don't think it's the recovery causing it.

Strange, i'll look into it sometime later. I'm working the second shift today starting at noon and need to work tomorrow starting at 5am. Retail around the holiday weekends suck.

You know I'll help in anyway you need just pm me. Sorry to hear you have to work tomorrow, that's a bummer.

Hey gang... when I try and flash the recovery, I get permissions errors and it doesn't install. Any ideas where to start the debug?

Never mind... somehow--no idea how--I lost my root and that was--wait for it--the root of my problems.

Thanks for the help I'm sure you would have provided.

This time, I've got a good one... yesterday, the phone asked for its usual OTA update to v6 and I meant to hit "later," but hit "now" and I'm stuck in a recovery boot; that is, the phone ONLY enters recovery EVEN when I reinstall the rom...

I've tried reinstalling Psycho Billy's via zip and am currently trying the stock from LG; earlier, I tried the unbrick method posted and it didn't do anything--e.g., sat on "Ready" for an hour.

EDIT
Stock rom install changes nothing, still boot cycling into CWM Recovery...

EDIT2
So, I stumbled across this post and thought maybe I wasn't using the right key dance... tried the Vol+ and Power while the phone was off and connected... it worked. I'm currently in "S/W Upgrade" and will see how it goes. For the record, I did have to do things a bit out of order from that post, but meh.

That is the unbrick method guide, you will want to be in download mode, not s/w mode.

If you set 'ready' for an hour, just unplug your usb cable from your phone for 5 seconds and then plug it back in. It should start working then. I have to do that every time I use it. It's a little finicky

That was my main problem: the phone wouldn't go into DL mode no matter what I did.

Good to know; thanks for the advice. Hopefully, I'll need to use it sparingly. ;-)

Plug the USB into the phone but not the computer yet and press and hold the volume rockers than plug the cable into the computer. It works every time for me

Hey man, I have a question for you. I know I can do it manually, but is there a way to add 'partition the sd card' to the cwmt recovery?
