Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] [Recovery][VM]CWM 6.0.4.8 Touch for the LG Optimus F3

I have done all three methods. Unzipping and starting the batch file. it runs and says its sucessful But doesnt allow me to enter clockwork recovery, it just goes to the standard android recovery when from full poer off vol down and power.
and ive manualy placed both of those files in the right directory overwriting the old ones, still no CWM Recovery
And Also running that fake recovery, and attempting to install that zip file (witch doesnt make sense) but it says installation aborted
Still no CWM recovery.

Those three methods ive found are not working for this phone.
I started this thread yesterday asking for help, witch led me here.

I'm not sure why your f3 is having this problem. You could try what some members have done in a similar situation. Hold the key combo but add holding the Home key too. So it's volume down + Home key + power. See if that works to enter cwm recovery.

Hello,
I just tried installing the recovery from Windows using the Install.bat and it looked like everything went through. But when I reboot and try to enter recovery the phone just starts up normally. I think the stock recovery is gone as well. My question is should the phone be in USB charge mode or USB file transfer mode when installing the recovery via windows? I thought that it needed to be in File Transfer mode so the phone would mount and be recognized by Windows but maybe that was an error in Judgement. The instructions didn't specify Charging or File Transfer mode so I just took a gamble. Any help is much appreciated.

*UPDATE* Just reinstalled the recovery this time with the phone in charge mode and everything went through successfully. Making my first backup now :D

Will either of the methods work if the phone has a passcode. I loaned it to my ex a few months back. She put a passcode on phone and must have changed email address. I have important documents, pics and some older text i need to recover.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have no idea. I've never heard of anyone trying it with the phone locked. You can see if the Windows Installer works. Although if you never had a custom recovery installed before I don't see that it will do any good without a nandroid backup to restore.

Hello, gherkaul - is there anyway I can use the LG Flash Tool and find a stock version of v7 to flash; then, maybe with a bit of luck, I can make sure everything is right before I Windows Install CWMT, Towelroot, SuperSU's paid version from Google Play (when I had installed Saferoot with v6, SuperSU automatically installed with it - not so, with Towelroot), and BusyBox... please help, as I'm locked into read-only memory, and CWMT is not operating. I'm sorry if I've driven anyone nuts, but, think about how I feel after following the directions to the letter. Thanks - LW

I have messed up the build.prop trying to silent the camera. Now my phone is not starting up. Does your recover allows me to use USB to get into the /system and fix the damaged file or do I need to follow the unbrick procedure? Thank you!

Yes, I added usb support to the recovery. You should be able to push the file with adb.

Forgive me rongvang but I'm having a little difficulty understanding your question. If you're saying the recovery is telling you there's no root just answer no when prompt ask if you want cwm to try and gain root. Once you reboot open your superuser app and it will let you know if you've truly last root somehow. If so just re-root. I hope that's the answer you were looking for.

gherkaul - with the LG Flash Tool, is it pre-loaded with v6, or, do you have to obtain it through LG? The reason why I'm asking is I have it in a folder on our Windows 8 nightmare, and to be honest - after the phone soft-bricked last month, my fianc

I am having some odd issue with permissions. Tried to install recovery manually, when i tried pasting both aboot and recovery through es explorer or root explorer, it says permission denied. Even both apps are granted su. Tried chmod 0777 on both files, same thing.

P.s. tried doing it from terminal after su, chmod does not change permissions from rw rw r for the file

Any ideas ?

I'm working on it. Need a little time to figure out what might be the cause.

Okay so the problem is your /dev folder is read only. Not sure why, it should be read/write after rooting. Go to the Playstore and install "Remount". Try mounting /dev as r/w and see if that works for you.

Posting here as you asked. I tried Remount and it says it's set to RW.

I checked the folder before and after and it says RW both times.

I've attached an image of the error it gives when manually copy/pasting. Perhaps the error it shows will shine some light.

Thanks for looking into this gherkaul

In mountinfo /dev seems to be mounted as rw:

10 1 0:10 / /dev rw,nosuid,relatime - tmpfs tmpfs rw,mode=755

The permissions are:
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-09-08 12:58 dev
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-09-08 12:53 block
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-09-08 12:53 platform
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-09-08 12:53 msm_sdcc.1
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-09-08 12:53 by-name
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2014-09-08 12:53 recovery -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p17
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2014-09-08 12:53 aboot -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p5

brw------- root root 179, 17 2014-09-08 12:53 mmcblk0p17

Well fixed the issue of it being write protected. Uninstalled and reinstalled ES File Explorer and clicked on the options button (Upper Left) and scrolled down and turned on Root Explorer and it worked.

Not sure if just uninstalling it helped or turning it off and back on did. Now to see if it'll boot to recovery mode correctly.
