Root Voodoo for the Fascinate ext4 LagFix

can someone explain exactly what the lagfix is intended to fix....because stock i had no lag.....on a technincal level, what is the big deal?
 
Samsung used a shitty proprietary RFS filesystem that is compiled as shitty fat, an extremely slow filesystem. Ext4 is what it should have shipped with, and it makes the I/O much faster. It's not necessarily and overall lag fix, although it does do that, it's more for making apps that read/write to the filesystem work faster.
 
have it installed and it is great! thanks to the dev! it will take awhile to boot up on the first boot.
 
jt really is the man. First his OC kernel was always was the most stable; now this [admittedly we lose OC temporarily]. But I have to imagine within a week we'll be back at least 1.2Ghz and ext4 lag fixed. I'm paypal-ing the lad some $$

BTW, I like that female droid voice. Step 1, Step2, pure coolness. Let's get her on the bootscreen
 
this voodoo fix just made me love my fascinate more.. im glad i switched from the droid x.. glad to see some kernal development going :D

I'm sure we will. He built the OC kernal and he built this [with a lot of help I know]. Any day we'll have the both combined and complied together

I know. We all want. But, we also have to appreciate what we just got too.
BTW and for once I didnt bother with a ShootMe shot but my Quadrant score is 1733. Which is right in line with what we were total to expect from this real lag fix.
I can confirm that former slow spots are now much snappier. Specifically, the Gallery is notably faster. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications [a notorious one for me]. Actually it seems everything is just snappier. Task Manager, Handcent, geez you name it, it feels faster to me. This lag fix actually makes the device feel faster than the 1.2Ghz did [combine them and Im in heaven].

so to uninstall 0.1...

-open root explorer
-navigate to sdcard\Voodoo
-create folder "disable lagfix"
-reboot

That's it?
 
i just plugged into my mac and created a new folder in voodoo and rebooted.. i'll let you knwo if it works.. rebooting now from creating it

edit* don't create a folder.. i getting FC's .. its best to use adb..
 
looks like using my method is working...

I flashed .01, with a 4 minute first boot.

then I created the folder, and the reboot is taking another 4 or so minutes...

Hmm not looking good... my uninstall is taking forever at the Samsung screen... sigh
 
edit* correction. create a file in voodoo named disable_lagfix, then reboot.. before install v2, delete disable lag fix
 
mine was FC'ing so i restored it to stock with odin. now i can't even log into google.. makes calls and all that.. just can't get in google server. says Can't establish reliable Data Connection
