Root Voodoo for the Fascinate ext4 LagFix

Works great. It took all of 3 minutes to complete. My Quadrant score is now at 1600. Thank you for this patch.

Hey. I hate to be 'that guy' but I'm having trouble.
Here's what I'm doing:
boot into recovery
apply sdcard:update.zip
..finding
..opening
..verifying
..e:signature verification failed
..installation aborted

Any Help?

Times like this make me wish I had a PC. But, it's ONLY times like this! :) I'll get there shortly. Have to remember how to get into my phone via terminal.

I'm having the same problem, I've downloaded the file from XDA a few times, and have tried to leave it as it's named, renamed it to update since it auto puts the .zip at the end, update.zip, but when I flash using CWM it bring me into recovery, and says failed to veriy whole-file signature. Any ideas as what I can do? I have read the forum on this at XDA and someone posted a similar thread, but the only reply I saw, was that maybe he didn't get the file downloaded. Please help me out.

Here's how I installed the patch.

** make sure you uninstall the lag fix before attempting this update **

-download voodoo_kernel_0.2
-connect Fascinate to computer
-mount phone
-create a new folder labeled "Voodoo" on the sd card - place the voodoo_kernel_0.2 zip file in the Voodoo folder you created - leave it as a zip file - do not extract it.
-reboot into recovery
-when in recovery choose the "install zip from sdcard" option
-navigate to the Voodoo folder and click on the zip file
-the file will extract itself and you will go back to recovery
-click on "reboot system now"

sit back and listen to that sexy robot work her magic.

I hope this helps.

Thanks man, I am a bit on the lazy side, coming from the HTC Eris I never had to use Odin, or CWM, but that seemed to do the trick for me. You are a life saver! It's updating now, just can't wait to see the difference in the response of the phone.

i hate to admit this.. but i don't know that much about terminal to make it work on a mac yet.

i'm going to wait for a bit.

Here you go brad.

adb
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Fascinate%20Files/nixCWMfascinate.zip

Install ROM Manager from the market, and go in and hit "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery". Let it reboot, then do this.

1. Download those, and put adb and the nix folder on your Desktop
2. Open terminal
3. cd Desktop
4. ./adb push nixCWMfascinate/redbend_ua /data/local
5. ./adb push nixCWMfascinate/zImage /data/local
6. ./adb shell
7. su
8. chmod -R 755 /data/local
9. /data/local/redbend_ua restore /data/local/zImage /dev/block/bml7
10. phone reboots
11. remount your sd card to the computer. Close terminal, and re open it.
12. adb shell
13. su
14. /data/local/redbend_ua restore /data/local/zImage /dev/block/bml8

Thanks for these instructions. Worked like a charm.

I followed you up to connect fascinate to computer. After that I am LOST! What does mount phone mean? How do you create folders? How do you reboot into recover? Lost....

I just did this and lost everything on my phone. lol wtf happened?

did you get the voice saying step 1.....and then step 2....and then a successful.....while the Samsung logo was on the screen?

I apologize for the noob quetion, but I am a little paranoid about this. Will installing voodoo cause problems when updating to froyo? I'm already rooted and have cwm.

Alright..I've been messing around/googling about this issue, and can't find anything remotely helpful. I haven't been able to connect to my phone through the Eclipse/Android SDK today, Device Manager shows multiple offline devices (with the same name) and 'adb devices' shows nothing. Would Voodoo be the cause of this?

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Scroll down if you're curious/bored enough to know how.

I'm not very good with ADB; however, with this link([ HOW TO ] ADB AND WHY I LOVE ADB commands <3) I was able to run the command prompt on my computer and have adb access.
