Root voodoo5 kernels are here

has there been any significant progress since 12/03 stable? hows the OC quest?

Games ran smoother on OC for me (before it froze)

well the 12/09 is based off the final/stable/rc voodoo
otherwise nemesis hasnt released anything in a few days.
Im still 100% stable on his 1200 02 but if you tried all his different voltage flavors and none worked then you're outta luck. Unless you have his one with the the 1100 step thats still a mini OC, although some had battery connected problems with that one

nitsu do you still religiously wipe cache and dalvik on this new voodoo? At some point in the last 24 hrs I lost all my progress in NFS and I can't figure it out. Angry birds wasnt lost. I restored my last Ti of NFS, and now its not only at the beginning but it wants me to buy it again. I wiped the caches and erased/redid all my TiBUs but I can't think of anything else funny. Flashed one of those 1200s then went back to 12/03 also. Could one picture freezes in kernel testing have made it go nuts?

Does anyone with NFS have a folder for it on their SD? What's it called? I thought I did but I don't see it now.

Well, I was unable to replicate this; wiped both cache and dalvik and all is well.

The only thing I can think its the freeze while testing the OC kernel made nfs go boom...

wiping davlik cache is redundant if you wiped regular cache.

Ok, good to know. I thought you said once that you do both.

Nemesis is hard at work, I'm excited :)

Haha yeah there is a good chance I said that at some point.... :)

Currently running one of drod2159 s voodoo kernels oc to 1150...seems snappy and responsive.....pretty close to one of he newer otb s from nem

Nice! Never heard of that. I've been on nem otb .2 for a couple of hours, haven't tried very hard to make it crack, here's hoping! No freeze so far.

Apparently it didnt go so well, I was not even on the testing crew but I heard it was a no go

wow didnt know he had kernels out already. 1150 huh not bad. I didnt see this on irc but then I didnt look hard and it was probably pm only. Was that based off the final/stable voodoo 5.0.1 build? Thats the one thing we/I dont have with nem's kernels from a few days ago
Im still going strong on nem's 1.2 no real reason for me to get off it since nothing is a better alternative yet

I've been on this now for what 3-4 days other than the moments I disable voodoo to test something for geeknik but IMO I will now say for me on my phone 02 is 99-100% stable it has not cracked on me since that one instance the first day of testing. Equally true I havent seen any of the imfamous old voodoo lag but then equally true 2 of the last 3 days I have flashed off voodoo for awhile.

Like I said above, it might not be the newest kernel but I'm pleased as punch with the 1.2 02 from nem. We are all part of the flash-happy crew but I think we also know newer is not always better.

Within an hour tonight both geeknik and nemesis made kernels which didnt fly and actually might have done some borking Im not sure. I think nemesis was actually re-trying studoo and geeknik is still trying to boost dalvik, both sounded unsuccessful.

At this point Im just waiting for someone anyone to deliver a 1.2-1.25Ghz kernel with voodoo5.0.1 and then honestly I dont think anything can or will improve till we go to 2.2.

tbh i dont know what base drod built his voodoo from :o, i got it via the pm route. seems good....pretty stable and responsive so far.

otb 0.2 is the best of the 1200s for me but i can always duplicate the browser crash if im heavy on web use with it...so for me that is a no go :(

are you using the stock browser that comes in jt's rom v.7?
If so, maybe swap it out. I always swap it for some other version of the stock browser that I think birdman posted like a month ago and its always been stable for me

I have 8 tabs open in xscope, I just swiped through all of them and scrolled up and down as fast as I could, no probs

Why do you guys prefer the stock browser?
For me I just kinda got used to it. And frankly I am not on the browser very much at all. I only have 4-5 pages bookmarked honestly. I tried Dolphin didnt like it, I have xscope too and it seems faster, better but again I guess I just got used to the stock

I use the stock browser because it simple and I like the look of it.... :)

That was a great post by adryn at xda....I really think there should be a competency test before you flash voodoo given he ridiculous things going on.

Agreed. Great Idea.

since I got some time now

Voodoo Competency Test

5 quick questions, must get all 5 right to procede; any wrong answers = insto-FAIL and access denied

Test Question #1: what is adb?
Wrong answers include:
whats adb?
never heard of that before?
is that something like z4root?
and

Test Question #2: how did you get clockwork on your phone and name at least two ways to access cw on your phone?
Wrong answers include:
whats cw?
any answer that does not include the word odin

Test Question #3: what do you when its been a few minutes and the phone is stuck on the Samsung white logo during ext4 conversion?
Wrong answers include:
Whats ext4?
and anything other than keep waiting patiently

Test Question #4: How do you go back to rfs once you get on voodoo?
Wrong answers are too numerous too even list, you better know this before you jump into the pool, sorry no freebies here

Test Question #5: Who are jt1134 and supercurio and why will you be donating to them
No wrong answers for why to do donate of course but you need a clue who these two gurus are if running voodoo on the SF, if you dont thats like being Christian and not knowing who St. Peter and St. Paul are

Passing this test does not mean you still might not need a helping hand but it does establish you at least have a clue what you are doing and wont get yourself into hot water and not know why?

Mind you even the knowledgeable get into jams from time to time but at least be somewhat informed before just trying to monkey see monkey do, especially with voodoo.

This is not intended to come off as arrogant but it is intended to serve as a guidepost showing what a small hurdle you should be able to clear looks like prior to proceeding onto voodoo5

Great post saps. ..it was funny but at the sametime sad that (conservatively) half the people currently running voodoo would have never made it past question 1

Yeah I was trying to be slight bit funny and serious at the same time. Sadly as you say I think you are right to very conservatively put that figure at 50%, Im afraid its closer to 75% honestly. I just spent 90 yes 90 minutes on a irc PM with someone so yeah now they are up to speed education wise but man my fingers hurt now :(:p:o

Anyway everything helps

BTW nemesisall has new OC voodoo kernels up now 1100lv and sv and 1200lv and sv :D
1250 later tonight

Oh and these kernels are now based on the stable 5.0.1 voodoo too :)
