Root VVM in CM7?

LittleRedDot

I know I've seen it mentioned a few times but my searches came up empty... Can I install a VVM program in CM7 and get rid of the text messages?

Sorry if it's been done to death:)

I haven't looked for the thread where I was discussing it last, my experience though was that I couldn't figure out how to get go sms to blacklist the texts. I didn't want to go back to handcent with it. I think I could have done it with that.

Also, there was a gapps file that had vvm in it, when I flashed it though, I lost voice search.

You need MB to address this for you. Actually, in the Have you tried aosp or cm7? thread, I think he went through all of the problems and workarounds he had found for them. I know I read where he did somewhere though.

That would probably help you, see if i can find it for you.

edit: Nope, not there, still lookiing...

Yes you can and Yes you can you will have to blacklist the 9016 number or what ever it is. I have actually been told that there are a few programs out there that blacklist programs so you can just use one of them and it will keep away all on their list and they are much easier to manage from what i've been told. I have not used one yet so don't know which one to recommend.

Thanks guys, only had CM7 back on the phone for about 20 minutes and I couldn't get the market to work after the intial login... In fact all the icons were just the generic HTC icons and did nothing when pressed, and I was forced to flash a nand of mik3.0.

I really want to give CM7 another try but it seems like I'm installing it wrong every time. I'm flashing the rom, then the gaaps, then the kernel, then reboot... Is that right?

Yes make sure to wipe really well. 3 times is the general consensus. Also I would personally flash kernel a few hours latter give things time to settle

Although wiping 3x is good, I believe a better benefit of getting a clean slate is by using a wiping script, such as VR Superwipe or calkulin's format all. Then before flashing a rom do this:

Boot to recovery

Flash VR Superwipe and/or flash Calkulin's format all

Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Dalvik cache
Wipe cache

Flash rom

Reboot
