(VZW) Nexus 4.0.X Update Discussion

This is Verizon on updates.....

1354 hours Mountain Time and NOTHING

Well, it's happy hour here in the Central Time Zone. The Powers That Be have clocked out and are headed home. I just checked my phone and guess what?

Awww, how did you guess THAT fast? You're right: no update. :(

Looks like this was another cruel prank. OR Verizon's screen said "May 22" but the CSR conveniently covered up the "2013" bit. Maybe next year... IF we're all still here to wait for it. That Mayan calendar thing could get us in December, ya know... :p

Meanwhile, Apple can push out a major release anytime they feel like to the Verizon iPhone. Gotta love the second-class treatment Android gets from Verizon.

If I could just get an update that will make my phone consistently function as a phone, I swear I'll never following another one of these update threads. How aggravating...

After experiencing this on my terrible wait for updates on my old Samsung Captivate, I though switching to a nexus device would solve this problem but it hasn't. I went with the whole "vote with your wallet" idea so got a nexus. I will definitely be leaving verizon when my contract is up, and potentially android.

Great for you, Rafty: I guess you have coverage with someone besides Verizon! I'm kinda stuck with them, because they're the only game in town. Four bars and solid 4G. No other carrier even starts to come close :(

Yeah, I understand that there are lots of places in the US where Verizon is the only true option. Hopefully that changes soon, because the value I'm getting out of T-Mobile is just incredible right now. I couldn't be happier. $55 a month saved, no Verizon/middle-man BS, and most importantly... no contract. :)

I do miss LTE though... everything about it except the battery life.

I was really hoping all the waiting games and drama were done once we finally got the phone after the epic pre-release thread. Starting to feel like it's deja-vu all over again

At this point, I would be very surprised if the Verizon Nexus got Jelly Bean (Android 5.0) within 6 months of its GSM sibling.

And they've had exactly 1 update since the 4s was released and you have all of 1 new phone to choose from unless you want an old model that while it runs the current release, doesn't have all the functionality of the the current phone... yeah.. apple is way better.

One update? 4S shipped with 5.0. They've had 5.0.1, 5.0.2, 5.1, and now they're on 5.1.1....

I'm not arguing the iPhone is better. If you thought that's what I was saying, you missed my point. I'm saying that Verizon gives Apple the leverage to do whatever they want, including push updates without any of Verizon's fabled "testing". But when Google tries to push an update for the GNex, it conveniently must undergo extensive testing month after month after month.

I'm closing my eyes, sticking my fingers in my ears, and refusing to play the day-by-day game. So the source happened to be a customer that just happened to be in the store and was shown an internal Verizon document? Horsefeathers!

And now The Droid Guy's saying it's TOMORROW!

Verizon to seed ICS update to Galaxy Nexus starting tomorrow | Android Phones, Android Tablets, News, Tech, Gadgets And More, Thedroidguy

I refuse to play this day-by-day game. If and when Verizon sends it to my phone, I'll be a happy Gnexer (I hope). But I'm not going to keep staring at my system update screen, checking for updates on an hourly basis.
