(VZW) Nexus 4.0.X Update Discussion

No class action suit. I want a new phone, if I'm not going get what was promised to me. Doesn't take 5 months for a maintenance update. I am feeling like I got screwed. Should have gone with the Rezound. Maybe I can get a galaxy 3.
 
Verizon deserves this and a lot more....

If i know verizon im pretty sure they have a date for updating gnex, pretty sure in big caps says extremely confidential not a sole can know and thats the most ridiculous part n i bet its about another week to week and a half away n thats just unacceptable.!
 
At the risk of throwing more fuel on the fire, I am not holding my breath for an update before next week. Pushing a major software upgrade on a Friday before a holiday weekend has "ultimate customer service nightmare" written all over it. I have a feeling that by the end of next week we will have seen some kind of news on the update.

I'd say they already have the "ultimate customer service nightmare" on their hands. The natives are getting restless!

I'm in New Mexico, yes it is actually a state and part of the United States, and it is 0651 hours and of course NO UPDATE.
 
My local Verizon store has a sign in front of it that's advertising the Galaxy Nexus for $99*. I assume the * is the normal blahblah about a two-year contract. That doesn't make me feel good about the future of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon's network. Has Verizon always steeply discounted phones ~5 months after their release, or is that only reserved for poorly-selling phones?

How is this relevant to the update discussion? A new employee has the RAZR Maxx and I have to admit, I like it a lot. I don't like the looks of the physical phone, but the screen was nice, the UI was butter-smooth, and most importantly, it functions like a phone. If 4.0.4 doesn't fix my one-way audio issues (which, admittedly, hasn't happened in a few weeks), then I'm gonna have to dump the Nexus for a RAZR Maxx. Not my first choice, but if I can't make phone calls, what choice do I have?

I keep reading that 4.0.4 doesn't fix the one-way audio issue and there's a supposed fix from Samsung in the pipeline that will fix the problem. I've tried and tried to find definitive proof of this but only find rumor and speculation. Has anyone found official confirmation of this?

Well then, you and paleodust (and any one else wth full bars on 4G) should feel fortunate. All I get is forced 3G indoors, if I'm lucky. And I am in a supposed strong 4G market. But I see what your intention is.

4G actually works pretty well for me, as long as the signal is good. I can even tether my laptop off of it and I'm on stock 4.0.2. I didn't realize everyone had so many issues until I got curious about the next update. I guess I lucked out.

I'm just hoping the volume and battery life get improved.
 
I'm not saying that people don't have issues, but so you know that it is possible I live in Los Angeles and get full bars of 4G at work and home. Speeds are great. I'm running stock 4.0.2. Just know that it is possible!
 
4g is hit/miss for me where I live.....but it is in the mountains and also in New Mexico which is kinda behind the times when it comes to technology so it isn't as bad as I worried about it being. I have the day off so I called Verizon Technical support and asked about the update....the nice lady advised me that it was still scheduled for a May release....but who knows if Verizon will delay it. The one way mute issue occurred while I was speaking to the verizon rep and she called me right back....which was a surprise.....so I did of course ask her if that issue was going to be addressed in the update and she looked and told me that yes it would be fixed.
 
Well I finally said screw it and manually updated to 4.04. So far I am showing at least a 10db better signal strength and my 4G bars are at 3, before it was at 1 at my home. I am hoping to see better battery. Before the update the Android OS was at 24%. I never had the muted or dropped phone calls or dropped data. I can't believe Verizon is taking this long to update. The GSM was over a month ago, the "soak" was at least 3 weeks ago. Thankfully this is a Nexus and the Google servers posted it. This is really starting to remind me of all the pain that I went through with the Droid X.
