Im not sure if it can be attributed to the reset and I am probably going to jinx myself but.... I haven't had the mute issue since I reset on a fresh install of 4.0.4. I was on the phone for 4 calls yesterday for a total of about 2-2.5hrs. Only time will tell though.

Just for kicks, try opening the Volume + app and recommit your settings like this:

-press speaker settings
-make sure "speaker modifications" is checked
-press "volume level"
-before you select anything run your volume keys up and down from min to max so you can hear the current volume span as a point of reference
-now select the volume number you want, even if it's the same thing that's already selected
-once the change is committed, run the volume keys again to see if the range has increased

I had to do this back when I first installed the app for some reason. Not saying it'll work with the OTA but worth a shot.
 
OTA 4.04 hit this morning. About bl00dy time!
Watching things now and will let you know what shows up. Got great expectations for the new radios, and hope that the SMS download bug [about which VZW seems totally clueless] and the keyboard lag beyond two lines of text are fixed. Oh, and it would be nice if they have fixed the processor keep-awake bug to give us some better battery life too!
 
I just did the update during my lunch break. Took only ten minutes at the most! Everything appears to be in order, but I'll have to play with it and see.

I'm located on the Virginia Eastern Shore.
 
After the update my contacts won't sync and hold. Sometimes they come in and then the app crashes and when i reopen they're gone again.

I've spoken with VZW and Samsung and both have said I MIGHT try a factory reset but no guarantees.

After 6 months of stability now I'm screwed.

Exactly which app? Volume+ or Volume Control + ???

Got my update in NC this morning and so far, I've had "network not available" when checking email twice and no service for calls once. So.....am I to assume at this point that my phone might be defective?
 
I manage my contacts in a Hotmail account that is added to the device and is set up for autosync.

I use Go Contacts on the device normally.

After the update the device would not sync my contacts even though the sync button was checked, and I unchecked it and rechecked it and saw the spinning disc indicating it was syncing the contacts. Several times the contacts came in but then the application crashed and I turned it on and they were gone. If I check People at most only 10% of the contacts are there. There is serious latency on opening up and navigating in People, after the update. (BTW, I’m seeing latency in a number of my applications, worse than prior to the update).

I’ve removed and readded the Hotmail account. I’ve confirmed all the contacts are on the hotmail account on another device. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the Go Contacts app. No improvement.

All this worked just fine prior to the update.
 
I want to manage my contacts in Outlook. In order to do that and be able to sync them to the device i use Outlook Connector to the Hotmail account which then should sync up nicely with the device.

Again, all this worked just fine prior to the update.
 
Have you tried clearing data and cache in Go Contacts? I'm not familiar with the app but this is a route that works well for other apps that act up. It also may be worth checking to see if there is an update for the app since the 4.0.4 update.

Correct.

The link I posted above uses your Hotmail account to act as an Exchange account so you don't need GO Contacts and should be able to do it natively. Just a thought though.

Try what was suggested above as well.
 
There was no data in the cache to clear.

I've removed the account and added it back using the Mail technique you describe. What app do I use to view my contacts now, the stock People?
