It has occured to me that very few people still wear watches, and less even know how to read an analog clock(disturbing I know).

How many of you actually wear a watch on a daily basis? is it for time keeping, looks, or something else?

Personally I wear my watch simply for looks although im looking at a site tokyoflash to get a new daily watch (I hate wearing my movado out too much i'm always afraid of loosing it.)

I don't wear one anymore. I just use the clock on my phone.

BTW, maybe this thread needs a poll.

Edit: I see the poll has now been added. Cool.

I use mine as my main source of time...most of the time. I don't really wear it in the summer because is just weighs my down and sticks in the heat. In the winter though, I always have it and look at it before mt phone. Its faster to get the time.
I have a friend who sells watches online and he does pretty well, so people must still want them.

I use my phone for the time pretty much cause I am always looking at it anyways. But I have about 20 different watches ranging from a timex I use for swimming laps to an IWC that I cherish.

I use my watch as my main source of time.

My watch battery died last week and it feels really weird not wearing one

I can not vote!

you forgot another option...

I wear watch everyday for quick time... and for looks.

much faster to look at my watch.. than to take out my phone. I have nice expensive watch.. because it looks good and style.

I only wear a watch when I get dressed to go somewhere .... holidays, out to dinner, etc..... same as wearing jewelry IMO

Haven't used a watch in years. I never really liked them since I have slim wrists and even a light watch hurted my wrist by the end of the day :(

Like so many others my phone is my watch. I do have a Rolex [the only watch I actually own] I wear only on special occasions but its literally more of a fashion jewelry bling piece than a time telling device

I own a bit over 130 watches. I collect them (mainly vintage - late 60's to late 70's Japanese watches, but with plenty of modern Japanese, Swiss and custom made pieces). Most of it is mechanical and automatic, but there is a quartz component to the collection as well.

I find that ton of people still wear watches, though in many cases spending on a high end piece is nolonger something most seem to aspire to. That $100-$200 range were lots of very competent, quartz powered fashion pieces are found seems to be the range where the bulk of people buy watches.

Here is part of the collection open on a table:

I've worn watches all my life. I feel naked without one. Since high school I've pretty much only worn Timex as my daily watch, always beeping on the hour. I've also had a handful of Fossil and Relic watches for going out.

Watch is just clothing accessory for me, I do enjoy them and sometimes uses it too see what the time is, but 99% of the cases thats what the phone does too.

So other then looking good, not really.

Love my watch!! I wear a watch pretty much every workday and when I go out; if I'm home it's generally off. I find that when I'm away from my computer it's easier to look at my watch than my phone for the time. Plus, I've worn them ever since I can remember.

I dont wear watches on a daily basis, I use my phone for telling time.

I do own 4 watches though and wear them watch when doing the following:

  • Running (GPS watch)
  • Hiking (GPS Watch) I would just use a gps app for this but they suck too much battery.
  • Swimming (Lap/Heart Rate Watch)
  • Any time I put on a suit for some reason I feel the need to have one of my two nice watches on.
  • If I remember I wear a watch on occasions that I will want to know the time but know its tacky to look at my phone. I do this when I know I have a long and boring meeting or something to that effect.
