Well here it is, the LG Nexus 4! Without LTE

Buddy I don't like to go back and fourth. I posted this thread to chat about the Nexus 4, not go back and fourth about who posts things first or who's confused. I peek in on the Verge on a daily basis. The Verge clip is more of Google showing the phone and tablet off, not really a review. Reviews will come in the next few weeks. I've been through many many phones, and from everything I've seen in Screens vs other Screens, Super Amoled screens have much deeper blacks then others.

What I said was earlier leaks of the phone sitting next to the GNex showed the LG Nexus looking very washed when sitting next to GNex which has a Super Amoled. And like I said earlier a true hands on will tell the tale. No need to go back and fourth.

Whose going back and forth? All I asked was to reserve judgement for the review, which clearly you aren't. I even posted a preview, which at the time it hadn't seemed as if you've read. The verge had hands on time with the device, said the screen was terrific, and yet you base your judgement on blurry cam shots of leaked prototypes. Hate the phone all you want, but don't spew fear uncertainty and doubt on a phone that hasn't even been released yet. Also, it's not like I came at you sideways buddy, we were all having a civilized chat. Just cause I tried to provide clarification on a point I didn't agree with doesn't mean we're going back and forth.

During the video at the 8:43 mark, Matias said, "this is not the final hardware." So the The Verge never got to see the "final hardware." All The Verge got to see was 'prototypes.'

Your telling me to reserve judgement? What did I say earlier, that the MY final review will come with MY hands on! Your argumentative about nothing, I posted the Verge hands on hours ago, not to base my final judgement, but to have people take a look at it. What your doing is basically saying I shouldn't have an opinion on what I think of the specs, well my friend an Open Forum is basically people's opinions , and if you don't like other people's opinions, well then you shouldn't be a member on an open Forum. My opinion is my opinion, and yours is yours. I've owned enough phones to say that Super Amo screens are what I like with its deep blacks, case closed...that's my opinion and what I like! You may have your own opinion and that's fine. I'm not telling you not to buy the phone, just basing my opinion! Time to move along...

Which is true, I'd think that checking out a review of the at&t LG Optimus G would tell the tale on how good the camera is though. Would have been sweet if Google opted for the 13 megapixel shooter that's coming on the Sprint variant of the Optimus.
 
Can't wait for the reviews to start rolling in so we can get some outside opinions on the phones before purchase. Either way it's at the top of my list.

I think you may be right about the AT&T LG Optimus G for the 'foreshadowing' of the LG Nexus 4. For me, it would have been a little more intriguing with a 13 megapixel camera as I use a smartphone's camera quite a bit.

I do agree with you on the screen comparison with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. With all the 'leaks' of pics and video, the LG Nexus 4 screen doesn't look as nice. Of course screen like/dislike are subjective. :)

Same here. Always look forward to reading/seeing reviews of a highly anticipated device such as the LG Nexus 4.

Nexus 4, Lumia 920, And maybe the 8X. The latter 2 would just be to try out the Windows Phone, but I really don't think I could commit to that as my main phone os, as I'm very entrenched in the google ecosystem. But, had the Nexus 4 not checked off enough checkboxes I would have strongly considered going that route. I don't like the idea of skinned android devices, so the only option for me android-wise is the 4.

If you do go the Windows Phone route, let me know what you think of it. The last Windows Phone I tried was the HTC Trophy, which isn't saying much. For the past 2 years I have been really despising Microsoft and Steve Ballmer.

Other than music, I am also very deep into the Google ecosystem.

Never been a fan of skinned devices either, but Motorola seems to be going in the right direction. Now if they could only get VZW's influence off those phones.

If you mean phones, then it's not happening. That was never the plan. Multi Nexii devices was misunderstood in the rumor mill. They meant one phone and two tablets.

From a business stand point it would be silly to have multiple devices to run the same exact thing. The only thing that would differ is the OEM's favor of screen tech, build, and MP as far as camera maybe. And just about every OEM is always bringing out something similar because technology is on the same level everywhere in these markets shown to us. And at the end of the day it could just make it harder to have the OS adapt to their build or features.

Adding LTE radio for specific carrier bands like Verizon, Sprint is non-issue. But Making LTE radio supporting all the major frequencies for the networks across the globe is not that easy. GSM/HSPA+ is pretty much global standard, so it's much easier to make global phone.

No LTE LG Nexus 4 brings Google back to its roots

It sucks for those of us on CDMA carriers. But I believe carrier specific LTE version will come later, similar to what happened with verizon, sprint Gnex.

I hope you are right, but I have my doubts. It's not just LTE, but also Verizon's lock down culture. I still believe Google was PISSED about wallet, they stood to make a lot of money on that.
 
Regardless of its lack of SD card and removable battery the phone is still the best phone on the market. Why........price unlocked, pure android, lastest version of jellybean, first to get updates, wireless charging, high community of modding, and it's True HD IPS Screen (which I believe is better then a Super AMOLED).
Also for me LTE isn't an issue because I only get about 9 mbps during peek hours with LTE in my area. So the battery saving hspa+ is a plus for me. My One X has 16 gigs and I pretty much always have 4 to 5 gigs available so the storage "for myself" isn't a problem neither.
I believe alot of people hated the fact that LG made the Nexus 4 and assumed from the beginning that it was a crap phone because they made it. I've always believed that LG always made great hardware but lacked in the software department. Well with Google running the show along with the unlocked price I'm sure this phone will be a hot item!
 
Since this phone has an S4 SoC if Im not mistaken all of them have an LTE radio built in just like you can make a Verizon Galaxy S3 work on GSM HSPA+, Im sure with some software hackery someone could get LTE to work on ATT LTE network since its "open" or so ATT says. *edit* I will be testing it day one with Metro since thats the only LTE network I have access too--ATT LTE not in my area

Unfortunately that's not the case with Nexus 4. It has S4 Pro, not regular S4 SoC. S4 Pro(APQ8064) doesn't have any cell modem on it.
 
I was told to hold out. Apparently, Samsung and Motorola have Nexus devices on the way in the next few months.
 
Those were rumors a few months ago, but nothing else has it been heard about it. I'd be willing to bet there isn't any other phones coming down the pipeline.

I'd love to see a HTC nexus though

Reading Andy Rubin's comments, it sounds like he pretty much closed the door on the possibility of making another lte nexus anytime in the near future. In fact, making carrier specific models seems like exactly what they're moving away from. They want you to be able to buy a nexus device through the play store and be able to use it on any gsm carrier in the world.
 
How much was the Galaxy Nexus when it first came out? I'm trying to figure out what the 4 will cost in my country (usually 20% - 40% extra than the US price) since the Galaxy was around $800.
