What are you currently reading?

i am reading song lyrics for a comparison paper i have to do... has anyone ever relised how incredibly deep some songs from metal and alternative bands could be (i mean you never know the lyrics until you look at them even if you have herd the song a million times)

You will get it within a couple books :)

Also law of nines will make more sense after you finish series... I would have waited to read Nine

I didn't realize that Nine was part of that universe, I thought it was standalone. I enjoyed it even without knowing all of what I'm learning now.

Well it is stand alone but i would have been confused also if I read it first.... You'll know what I mean when you finish

Yes, as a life long metal head, check out some of the lyrics from the band Death, (Human album and later), and the album Abigail by King Diamond. (a concept album that would make a great book or movie.

Just finished Cryptum by Greg Bear, so just starting The Forge of God, also by Greg Bear.

I enjoyed Forge of God quite a bit, and like Bear a lot. After FoG (if you like it) make sure to check out his Anvil of Stars, for more of the story.

Currently re-reading A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge in anticipation of tomorrows release of The Children of the Sky, his 3rd book set in the Tine's world/zones of thought universe. (Yay!!!)

I quite liked Cryptum (although I'm a fan of the Halo back story any way) and from the small amount I managed to get through of FoG. The guy who recommended FoG to me also said Anvil of Stars was worth a shot so I'll probably pick up that one too, thanks.

Tines world/zone of thought universe? That sounds pretty interesting, whats it about?

The Forge of God and its follow-on, Anvil of the Stars, are two I personally recommend.

Great reading!

Whats the deal with this FOG series you all are talking about? Sounds interesting... i been slacking on my reading lately

A Fire Upon the Deep is one of my all time favorite books, and A Deepness in the Sky, a prequel written after is pretty great too. You'll probably get a better picture of what these are about from Amazon (or elsewhere) that what I'd be able to give you in a quick write-up.

I'm now reading Angel Fire East, the last in the Word & Void trilogy by Terry Brooks. I've been so bad at reading my books the past few months due to such substantial changes in my life, especially with work now but I'm finally making ample time to read again and am happy. :D

Yeap. Last book. I've got Revan's book on preorder for my Nook app. Darth Plageuis is coming out too. I can't get enough of the Old Republic books. Waiting for Palpatine's book...should be a lot of pressure on that author.
