What Tasker profiles is everyone using?? (This thread is NOT for requesting help with profiles)

I have a few profiles I am still tweaking but the closest to working the way I want are listed below. I would like to thank Code Monkey for his Delay Lock code it was very useful however in conjunction with my other tasks I found that android has problems with checking lots of system variables and seems to delay tasks, and in some occassions, ignore them due to it and so I have simplified the delay task to work from a variable state and compiled it into 1 profile. So far this seems to be stable.

-WIFI HOME* (I have cell contexts for each place i use wifi)
Context
State > CELL NEAR
State > NOT AIRPLANE MODE

Note: The issue (drawback) with this task is the amount of time android takes to realise the screen has turned off. This basically leaves a 5 second or so time where if you lock the phone and unlock it straight away the context is not recognised and the phone locks by default.

Hi guys, I recently purchased tasker and love it already!

anyway, i set it up to emulate juice defender. it's working quite well, the only thing is that even though it's syncing emails (I can tell as new notifications come up when i switch the screen back on) the LED notifications i would normally get when a new email arrives aren't coming up :(

anyone else experience this? will continue to do some testing and see if i'm imagining things

I only use the gmail app as I forward my other emails to gmail. I use tasker to only sync mine for 5 min every 3 hours and my LED notifications work fine with the gmail app
 
Has anybody figured out hwo to get it to auto speaker phone when you play the phone down while on call? I've been looking for a "in call" or "on call" feature but can't seem to find one? And to further enhance it, is it possible for it to check to see if it's been face up for say...5 seconds before switching on speaker? (this is for when you move your phone away from your ear quickly and it flips the accelro)

I haven't had a chance to look, but could you perhaps use Application > Phone as the context?

There is a slight delay on my phone before it recognizes the position of face up anyway. I'm not sure you'd want a 5 second delay and miss that much of the conversation.
 
It'd work perfectly if I could select Dialer...but only phone =/ which I think doesn't register properly if you get an incoming call. Oh well, guess I just have to make another context. Is there a dialing context? What is "phone off hook" I would have assumed that would be the right context but I think in my testing I couldn't get it to function properly =/
 
When you are selecting apps for the app context, there is a button at the bottom for "All".

There you can select dialer.

Also, note that the apps context is a multi-select, so you can select both dialer and phone if you want.

The profile will be active when either app is in the foreground.
 
First off I want to say thank you to all the people who have replied with advice to help questions, as I have learned alot and gotten my profiles from not working at all to almost where I want them. I was hoping for some advice on these two I can't quite seem to perfect if you guys/gals have the time:

Work:
WIFI NEAR (entered SSID, MAC, Min. activate signal level 1, toggle wifi)
TASKS: WiFi on, GPS off, Silent mode on, Display level 58
Exit tasks: WiFi off, GPS on, Silent mode off

House:
WIFI NEAR (entered SSID, MAC, Min activate signal level 1, toggle wifi)
Tasks: Wifi on, GPS off, alarm level 13, ringer 15, display 58, notification 15, system volume 15, silent mode off
EXit tasks: Wifi off, GPS on, display 207, volumes 15

Overall seems to work OK, however every now and then (regardless of house or work profile) my WiFi will turn off and GPS sometimes will turn on for approximately 30 seconds, then the WiFi will turn back on and the GPS off. Does anybody know why it does that? In the notification bar at the top it will still say the appropriate profile is "active".

2ndly, it seems to take forever when i leave either work or my house for tasker to recognize i am nowhere near that location. It will even show a ? overlaying the dimmed out WiFi signal but not activate the exit tasks.

For the record my display on settings under "monitor" in preferences is as follows:
WiFi scan 60 seconds
GPS check 120 seconds
network location 30
GPS timeout 90 seconds

Display off:
all checks seconds 200


Any help would be greatly appreciated!

heh i thought this would be interesting to mess with...its kinda funky the way i have it setup but it seems to work.

Orientation > Face Down

Audio > Speakerphone > On

1. Speakerphone Set On If %CTIME ~ !=banana


lol was trying to figure out a way to only activate in call and couldn't figure out a > time number that would work...don't know if i just dont have the format down or what. but meh it'll work if call time doesnt equal banana rofl. and with just that line it seems to turn speakerphone on when its face down and auto turns off in any other position x.O

Not sure. How close are your home and work? Is it possible your home profile activates before your work profile is exited? If so, the exit task for the work profile will occur AFTER you have entered the home profile. This could be related to your question below.

When your phone is off, it will take 400 seconds for your Wifi Near context to exit. When your phone is on it should take 2 minutes. You need to be outside the Wifi Near area for 2 cycles before the profile will exit. This is by design, to prevent your profiles from exiting when you are at the edge of the wifi range and lose signal for an instant.



If you look upthread, someone posted a setup that will allow for more "instant off" using Wifi Near.

This won't be active only when you are in a call. It will be active all the time. It's just that you won't notice the speakerphone is on unless you are on a call.

The IF statement shouldn't do anything because %CTIME will never be equal to banana.

it doesnt seem to work that way. the speakerphone icon doesn't come on when im out of a phone call...but thats the point of the %CTIME there has to be call time for it to activate. != means "not" equal to which it will never be which makes it active. i dunno it seems to work :shrug:
 
Huh, perhaps it is something strange with the way Tasker is designed.

However, logic says that if a variable is not defined (%CTIME does not exist) it is NOT equal to "banana".



What if you hold the phone face down and look at which profiles are active in Tasker? :)

damn you why are you always right grumble...lol well i fixed it...just made my dialer the first context and orientation the second and all is well in the world today...


gah nvm doesnt work on incoming calls...working on it :/

theres a context event phone offhook but i just cant seem to get it to work right for some reason. :/
 
I have a few profiles, but only had Tasker a little while now.

My 'driving' profile triggers on power and audio jacks being in use simulataneously (which is what happens in my car) - turns on GPS, brightens screen, sets media volume to full, opens Winamp, reads text message 'sent-from' and bodies, auto-answers when the missus calls.

Another one to add a notification sound to NewsRoom notifications, extremely useful for me.

Use it for my alarm now too - time triggers alarm then:
Silent Off, turn on profile 'flip' and profile 'end flip', screen on and stay on while on power (needed for upcoming orientation triggered profile), media volume 1, play music track, wait 5 seconds and increase volume to 2 (repeating until volume is full), if I flip the phone over (orientation is face down) the 'flip' profile triggers: stop music playback, stop profile 'alarm', screen stays on while powered, music volume full, wait snooze period (5mins, or whatever), stop if profile 'end flip' active, else play music track, if I flip the phone back the exit task triggers - exactly the same as the flip task but doesn't do anything to the alarm profile. If I pull out the power then 'end flip' triggers: stop music playback, turn off profile 'flip', load app NewsRoom (morning paper delivery), end profile 'end flip'. Really enjoying this profile immensely. Nice thing about it is that all I do is activate the alarm profile (+/- change the alarm time), and the rest happens automatically, including turning off the other profiles when needed, meaning no persistent triggers once I'm up and about. No doubt a more elegant way to pull this off, but this works.

Is your Application context only set for Dialer?

What if you add "Phone" as well?

I'm guessing incoming calls don't have "Dialer" in the foreground. I'm not sure what the application name is, but I'm guessing it might be "Phone".

Click on the "All" button when adding applications and add everything that might be it. (You can add multiple applications, it will work as an OR context...so any single application activates the profile.)

If that works, you can then start removing some to narrow it down...
 
Sure, there are several location based settings you can use (GPS, network, near by cell towers). Have a wee read in the in-app help (particularly the location without tears section!) and post back here if you still need help.
 
I created a very simple task.

Event: Launch Nav
Task: Set brightness full

When I launch Nav, it launches, the birightness goes full, and then it immediately goes back to my home screen. If I use the Task Manager to select NAV again, same thing happens.

What's going on here? Any suggestions?

The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a Dialer app from what I can tell. Only phone.... =/

I have an HTC, so it's possible it has a different name on some phones. However, you should have some application that functions as a dialer.

How are you using an Event context?

You should use an application context and select Nav.

Then use an enter task of Display > Brightness and set a value.

That is my expectations of what I have done: Here it is step by step:

NEW Profile: Named it Bright Nav
Select Application: Select teh Navigation Application

In Tasks:

SElect Display: Display Brightness. Set it to full

Done, and apply.

When I launch NAV, it launches the NAV app; the screen brightens; then it goes back to the Home Screen, effectively exiting NAV.
