What's for dinner ?

black asphalt would probably hotter. if you had a cast iron vessel, i bet it would cook the chicken quite well. might take a bit longer......LOL
I've got a cast iron dutch oven that would do a bang up job given the time. My salad tasted great. going to have that salad on some seven grain bread in a little while. I've got some macaroni salad to go with the sandwich.

I meant to ask, are you doing your moco loco tonight?
yep. i forgot to defrost the hamburger overnight. it should defrost in time though. right now i am soaking my dried mushrooms to use as the stock for the gravy. i might make extra for a soup or stew later on......maybe for tomorrow as we have this storm coming in and a stew sounds comforting while it is storming outside.

That storm... I haven't checked on it since last night. It looked like it was going to bring a lot of wind and wet inland. Mud slides??

yep. wind and mostly water. it will depend on what direction the storm takes. if it goes west, then its going to be a stormy ride. if it goes east towards Arizona, then it will mostly be a lot of rain, thunder, and some winds. here in LA we will know Sunday night according to most projections. either way on sunday a nice warm stew sounds really good. the only thing is i do not have any meat to stew other than pork chops.....which i think might work well. i did most of my shopping for the week already and do not want to go out to Costco, cuz i hear it is such a mess right now. everybody is prepping like the world is going to end.......LOL

i do need some carrots though. i can't have a stew without carrots.....LOL i might see what they have left tonight....lol

It looked mighty fine to me. As a big kid living on my own, I made a similar dish but no rice. I was just making something out of the stuff I had. I was amazed how great the flavors married. I was likely starving at the time.. so there's that. :)

Ok so I made ground beef soup. It's basically ground beef with tomatoes, carrots, lots of onions, and potatoes. It's almost like a stew, but less thick.

It was very comforting considering Hilary was letting forth a deluge of water outside.

I had meatloaf tonight.

We have hamburger soup often across the winter months. We toss a larger variety of veggies in ours, a can of Hunts seasoned petite diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and less onion but basically the same dish. Easy comfort food... especially when it's cold out.

I made two pots of home made mozzarella cheese today, took me two long hours... and understanding my mother's mixture to mix up vinegar, with milk and salt. Turned out pretty well, after boiling them first and a few taste testers, it is not an easy task though, it is one of those "Do not stir" dishes.
