Root Whats the Best Rom for UK Desire

Newbie
HI All

I rooted about a month ago with Leedroid 2.2d and works very well, Just wondering what roms are the best at the moment as i head 2.3 aka gingerbread is coming out or possibly even out?.

Also do you see any point in upgrading radio on the phone if everything seems to work?

Thanks

Ste x

Depends what you want out of a Rom. If you like sense, a lot of people like leedroid an auraxtsense

I just want too the the ultimate best out of the phone or maybe eve some new features. I was wondering why there is not a sticky saying what roms are out their as when i was on the hero section a few months back they had a sticky which very handy :-)

There's only 1 sticky per forum now. Unfortunately ours is out od date

If you're looking for something different, there are a few good cyanogen based roms. Nl HTC sense, fast as hell

I found it quite hard to find info about the different ROMS, which is a shame.

I tend to visit DESIRE ANDROID DEVELOPMENT on XDA and look for posts that start with [ROM] in the title. That's where the developers post info about their ROMs and updates, although some of the threads can be several thousand pages long and asking a question there may not get you the friendly reply you get from these Forums.

I think the important thing is to decide what YOU want a ROM to do, as Dan said. My own personal shortlist for my next ROM is (1) A2SD+, (2) support for adjusting battery and processor, and (3) software included within the ROM itself, such as Flash 10, YouTube, Google apps, etc. Right now I'm leaning towards LeeDroid 2.2f which seems to be fairly stable and ticks all the boxes.

My vote goes for Aurax Tsense..It has A2SD+ and the rest.. Looks neat too.. I too believe its personal choice. And what does it matter what ROM you put today? You can always create a Nandroid backup and try another one tomorrow..

Interesting - What does that give you, or shave off?
it doesnt shave off anything, its full of candy and still performs as good as if not better than the other sense roms in speed and stability

for a sense rom its great, im only worried about something being too bulky if it affects performance, i can categorically say that this rom is not hindered by the candy.

also the theme i use is lush

its all personal preference though

I've jsut flashed the leedroid 2.2f ROM and can vouch that it is far faster than the Stock Orange UK ROM. clocked 1445ish on quadrant, Std Orange was well down on this.
that aurax these looks lovely!

I clocked 1550 on quadrant just now with LeeDroid 2.2f its superfast and stable. I havent added a theme yet though, just added the circle battery mod C, but I might have a look around for one

Just installed leedroid too yayyyyy (nerves were jangling but all went well), my quadrant result is 1237. Did you guys change anything to get those results?

you need to use setcpu to clock it and set the governor to "smartass"

smartass is a great governor for a few reasons. mainly because it supports scaling of the cpu rather than max-min min-max b ut also its voltages adapt to cpu usage aswell so its a battery saver while being extremely quick.

most devices will only allow the clock to go to 1152mhz, anything more than that causes system hangs and application hangs, reboots.
some devices can handle 1190 but most dont

the 1552 quadrant scores are usually on second pass.

if you dont use setcpu the clock is a max of 998 however it will still feel much faster than stock due to the gpu fixes and sdcard speed fix

I'm going to try LeeDroid 2.2f now. Sounds just what the doctor ordered...

Anyone got a radio recommendation for Leedroid, especially considering the possibilities for overclocking? I'm currently using .49, but is .48 better?

I was worried about which radio to use, or stick with the one I have. Then I saw a thread in XDA where EddyOS had grabbed the 5.10.05.30 radio from the branded Orange 2.2 update, and it got some good praise. That's what I have so no worries :)

in the case of sense roms, theres alot of bad information about.
dont flash a radio unless a rom requires it (some aosp based roms) or there is a radio related issue.

most people are too quick to blame radio on battery life when they have only had the rom flashed for less than 24hrs and not from a full charge.
they change radio and say "its better" but if they had stayed with the same one it would have improved.
new roms take a while to bed in and drain battery after initial flash then settles
