What's the weather like where you are?

Yesterday was windy and very warm as predicted. The high was eighty eight or nine and then a weather front developed in the evening. Thunderstorms that actually dropped some rain passed through dropping the temps drastically. It was only 33° this morning and isn't warming up much. A fifty five degree temperature change seems a bit extreme.

It rained one fifth of an inch late last night. More rain is forecasted for the next few days. We need the rain so desperately, I hope they are right for a change. Currently overcast 49.6° with a gently SE wind.

It was a beautiful day here in Kansas. As it warmed it up, the wind ramped up, but it was still nice with a full blue sky. It climbed into the low eighties and it's now 72.1° with wind out of the North at 11 mph with gusts close to 40 mph.

They have pretty much stopped tilling and have gone to drilling seed around here. I'm no farmer but 40 mph winds are quite common so perhaps it is topsoil erosion fear that has changed the planting technique. Many of the tree rows here that were planted back in the dust bowl days have been eliminated in the last couple of decades. Either they have forgotten the past or they have a good work-a-round.

Normally IL farmers around the Springfield area plant the third week in April. I'm guessing they haven't planted due to a couple of late freezes so their fields sat tilled. It's the first time I can remember a dust storm happening here.

Around our campus, U of I, we plant towards around oh I think I saw the combines out the other day.. Doing dry runs first, but yeah we have winds, around 20 mph. (Not a farmer either)

It has finally been raining here and the area needed the moisture badly. Just a third of an inch one day and a half inch another but it all helps. It rained .41" again yesterday. All of the rains have been very gentle, just barely over a heavy drizzle. With the rains it has been cooler than normal and gloomy. Today was a break in the recent weather trend. We had beautiful blue sky with zero wind and temps reached the mid seventies. It was just a spectacular day to be outside and soak up some rays.
