What's your favorite MLB team?

well, for my sanity I hope the brew crew decides to show up tonight, cuz obviously they didn't last night. That was ugly. They play horrible on the road. And their interleague schedule was just brutal this year... Rays, BoSox, Yankees and the twins twice. ugh. Almost over.

Hawkins last year had his share of breakdowns, no doubt about it. In pretty sparse action he has done pretty well this year. Dont know what his stats were from last nite, but for the year he hasn't been horrible by any means.

If the crew plan on doing anything this season beyond just "qulifying" for the playoffs, they need to learn to play on the road, they have been abysmal all season long, and last night just continued that streak...

Brew Crew don't stand a chance tonight only because Marcum is pitching and the Yanks DESTROY Marcum. Go ahead and look up the stats if you desire, they aren't pretty. The fact that CC is pitching tomorrow doesn't help them much either. I'm just hoping that Burnett can hold up against the slaughter that will unfold.

Just an fyi - the Brewers have the MLB's worst road record at 15-26.

oh I fully understand that they have the worst road record in the majors, and they also have (or had at least) the best home record in the majors.

As far as marcum, I dunno. He had quite the meltdown in boston a week ago, hopefully it doesn't repeat. Other than that one outing, he has been pretty solid this year for us, way more consistant than Greinke, thats for sure. Greinke's stats are a little misleading, obviously the 5+ ERA isn't at this point tho, but his 7-3 record surely is.

On CNNsi they mentioned Roeneke as a candiate for NL coach of the year, I laughed out loud. Being this abysmal on the road is gonna doom this club in the end, they gotta get it figured out.

At least the yankee fans can feel good that their super crazy inflated payroll can buy them some wins against the lowly brew crew right?? :P

Ehh, payroll is irrelevant. The Brewers have all the tools to beat any team (including the powers that be; Yankees, Red Sox, etc).

The general strategy in baseball (or any sport for that matter) is to pile up wins at home and break even on the road. The Phillies have the best record in the league. They're like 1 game over .500 on the road. The Rays seem to be the only team in the league that's figured out how to really win on the road this year.

Apparently Phillies pitchers are extremely injury prone.
You're saying that like its a bad thing:D;):p

13th inning for this Giants vs Cubs game.. and just as I type that, Pablo Sandoval hits a solo shot. 2-1 G men.. lets finish this up already geez!

Edit: This is ridiculous. Ramirez gives up a double, then a single.. tie game AGAIN, and now the Cubs got a runner at 2nd. I'm seriously going nuts over here.

When your team is 17th in the league in runs scored you kind of live and die off your pitching. When two of your starters go to the DL and one of the guys who's pitching like a Cy Young candidate gets banged up you start to worry.

I don't think you caught the sarcasm in my post?

But you're telling me. The team I root for is LAST in runs scored, so trust me, I know exactly what it takes to win a pitching duel

I don't blame the Phillies for taking him out of the game. Gotta protect one of their best assets.

I like to see the starters go deep into the game as much as the next guy, but not at the expense of the pitcher's ability to play. I don't care if the *want* to play, it's too important from a team perspective to stay healthy. One game, is, after all, only one game.

Brad Lidge is the perfect example. When he's healthy, he's got great stuff (or did, anyway) but he tries to play hurt and get's hurt worse, forcing us to rely on Madsen, Bastardo and the rest of the bullpen to close.

Yanks are tearing it up right now - about to have 5 in a row. 16 wins out of last 20 games. 3.5 lead in the East if the score holds up in Houston.

I wonder if Mets fans were expecting another double-digit score?

Looks like the Astros can't buy a break this year.

I think some of them were. My bro-in-law loves the Mets and he swore by a double digit score. I had to remind him that it was the Yankees they were facing thus making a double digit score less likely. I wasn't surprised that Reyes continued his multi-hit streak though. Damn dude is a beast. It's a shame he only plays when he wants to, contract year :(

Not sold on the Brew Crew. One big weakness is they have trouble in the field.

They are definitely sloppy in the field, ESPECIALLY on the road. I mean, these guys are like a totally different team on the road, and it is totally mystifying to me, and obviously Roeneke. Last year they were actually better on the road then at home (I think, I know they did pretty well on the road anyways) and this year...ugh..at least our brutal interleague schedule is finally almost done.

And hopefully we continue our dominance of them.

We shall see...they got a series coming up soon don't they?? It doesn't bother me losing to the reds, aas much as it does to the cubs...but that is probably because I live so close to chicago, and basically dispise all their sports teams, lol.

What's your take on Wilson's tantrum in the dugout last night? Sit the guy for a couple of nights and send him a message .... a major league time-out.

A little nuts, imo. Most guys just toss the cooler, he went overboard by fetching a bat and beating the cooler. I wonder if they'll fine/suspend him for his actions in the dugout.

He punched some Gatorade bottles with his pitching hand after that too. Luckily Affeldt saved his ass last night, considering Wilson blew the save the night before, before blowing last nights. I doubt he'll get fined/suspended/etc. No one around here is making a big deal out of it - and is seen more of humor than anything else. Also won't be sat for that. Hes the "beard." Thats just part of his personality - everyone in SF is used to it. If anything, he'll be sat only to give himself some rest and get back to where he was before the 2 blown saves.

The Reds not looking good against Cleveland.

I wish someone on the Reds would throw a tantrum or act like they care.

True, i've nothing against the brew crew except that they are ahead of us

Thought of woop when i saw that, LOL!

Meh... they are really pissing me off. Slept during game today and haven't seen highlights/what happened.... 0-5 against Indians this year....
