What's your favorite MLB team?

My boys have been on fire during Spring Training. Unfortunately, we took two tough losses to division rivals b/c of bullpen collapses late in the game. BLAH!

its only spring training......LOL

i mean should i be worried that kershaw has been pitching bad in a few games thus far? i rarely pay attention to spring training other then to see those who are on the bubble if they make the team or not. curious to see if zach lee will make the club as well as alex guerrero.

i'm with greinke as far as the team going to australia to open the season up.....why can't we just make it as part of spring training?

I never worry about pitchers in spring training. The aren't pitching so mush as reacquiring the feel for pitches. They may throw 4 straight change-ups regardless of the hitter or game situation.

anybody go out and see spring training for their team? i always wanted to go when the dodgers had the training in florida.....not sure about arizona though......lol

For the money, I'd rather go to a AAA game. McCoy Stadium (PawSox) is only about 30 minutes from my house and I can catch a game with my son with food and drinks for well under $50.

I went down to Tampa a few years back to check out GMS Field, but I've only been there twice (both instances during that one trip).

Yankees look awfully good this year. It would be nice for the captain to go out with another ring.

In 2010 my wife (before she was my wife) bought us Royals' spring training tickets. She's kind of naive, though, and bought a package deal from the Royals website, which, while cool, was too much money for what we got. In the package, we got hotel for a weekend, plus tickets to 3 games (away at Mariners, home against Angels, away against Oakland), plus, before the home game, we got to go on the field and chat/do autographs with Dayton Moore (GM), Trey Hillman (then manager), Billy Butler, and George Brett. There were about 15-20 people in this group. That was fun, considering that in KC George Brett can be kind of a prick about autographs, and to this day I don't know how much my wife paid for it, but she says it was "too much" and if she says that, then I believe her. If we were to do it again we would just buy the tickets online and eschew the package.

After the Sunday Oakland game we drove up to Las Vegas for a couple of days then flew home from there (we flew into Phoenix). The drive sucked because the Hoover Dam bypass bridge wasn't done yet, and there was a 2 hour traffic jam at the dam. That bridge is done now so that shouldn't be a problem.

If you're an autograph hound, it's fun to do because the players are more approachable than during the regular season. If you're trying to escape winter weather (as we frequently are in KC) it's a nice getaway. If you're a baseball fan and have never done spring training, you should do it at least once.

If your team is a Cactus League team, you're pretty much set as all of the stadiums are in the Phoenix area. The teams tend to alternate home/away/home/away, so don't worry too much about trying to stay at the "right" hotel, just stay somewhere in Phoenix. If you're a Grapefruit League team fan, you're in for more driving, because those stadiums are spread all throughout Florida.

Oh, a word to the Cactus Leaguers: learn a lesson from Brewers' GM Bob Melvin and don't pick up scorpions. Bark scorpion stings are extremely painful for days and lead to complications like re(!)-signing Yuniesky Betancourt.

Nicer to see him make an error that allows the Sox to beat you down again. Be nice to catch him juicin' too. LOL

Doutbful. Let's be realistic though - if Jeter was caught juicing, the MLB will go down the tubes real quick. He's the golden child of professional baseball.

While we're on the subject of juicing, don't act as if nobody on your team hasn't done it. Ortiz has been on the juice for years and even tested positive multiple times, but for some unknown reason he remains a media darling. I guess it's easier to mask your drug use when you don't have to play the field.

In other news, Sunday can't come soon enough. I need my baseball fix.

Multiple times? I remember him being mentioned on the report...when was the other time(s)?

Mitchell Report from 2003 and twice during their run to the WS in 2004. In fact, it came out that a few of the key players that contributed to that title were on the juice in '04. Foulke, Ortiz, Manny, and Varitek.

What do you mean twice during their run in 04...? Link?

Btw, not trying to defend or deflect..just don't reminder anything besides the 03 report

I don't really care about steroids..it is what it is...but I do find it funny when fans get all uppity about it as if there is any team that hasn't had a steroid user.

I'll dig around and get you that info. I originally heard it from ESPN directly, but I'm certain there are articles about it on the interwebs.

There's been a ton of injuries during Spring Training this season. Matt Moore (Tampa Bay) got hit in the face by a comebacker too. Luckily for him, it hit his jaw and not higher up on the face.

Oh that was BRUTAL!!

EDIT: wait, that was the Red's Chapman I believe. Well, I just couldn't watch that video. :shudder:
