Which HTC?

Have you considered a galaxy s or a nexus s?

I read somewhere that the Galaxy S has "poor widget implementation" compared with HTC Sense. I also understand that Nexus S is built by Samsung and presumably has similar "widget implementation".

This is all based on my rather sparse knowledge and sincerely apologize if I offended anyone.

Well no, HTC put sense on android. Samsung put whatever they use on theirs.

Samsung literally just build the hardware for the nexus S, like htc did for the nexus 1. So Google put a pure vanilla android OS on there. As pure as you can get infact. Samsung has nothing to do with android on the device, so they have nothing to do with "widget implementation"

Build quality would be my main concern though. The galaxy feels quite plasticy. Not sure on the Nexus s.

My biggest concern with Nexus S is that the storage doesn't seem to be expandable. If 16 GB is OK for you then that's not an issue, but I feel cramped with my 16 GB card right now.

My music tastes are too eclectic for 16gb. I can barely get a cross section of what I like on there, let alone have space for choice within a genre, artist or mood

If it has to be another HTC phone and I don't need a new phone NOW, I'd go for the HTC Pyramid. I believe it's a cut above the S/HD lines and would be what I considered a true upgrade. It's one hell of a sexy beast and the raw power competes with my Atrix. It is rumored to be the first phone releasing with android 2.4, which supposedly is coded to take advantage of the 1.2 gHz dual core quadcome processors. It will also be featuring the newest sense 3.0. Only minor flaw I see is that the RAM is only 768MB. I don't understand why HTC didn't use 1GB :/

If the pyramid came to canada before the atrix, no doubt about it, that'd be the phone in my hand.

I have the Desire and was lucky enough to get a ridiculous deal on a Desire HD, so now I have both. Before I got the HD my thinking was the upgrade just isn't worth it, the only reason why I did it was because of this deal. Anyways, here's my two cents:

The screen- I thought the DHD would be too big, but I've actually fallen in love with it. Its also much more clear and precise than the regular desire screen for some reason.

The battery- its very comparable to the regular desire, although slightly better, again I was surprised at this. With equal usage I got slightly longer results from the DHD.

Call quality- for the DHD has the desire beat on this, it's much louder and more clear than my desire.

Those are the things that HD was an upgrade on for me. I have no lag issues or anything on my Desire, so the DHD doesn't have a noticeable speed upgrade for me. The thing really missing from the DHD for me is LED notifications. First of all, its hard to see, secondly I miss being able to assign different colours lol
The camera was not an upgrade imo. I took the lens cover off of my Desire and I actually think that its camera is slightly better than the HD.

Other than that they are pretty much the same. I will probably keep the DHD and sell the Desire, just because I really love the screen and the call quality is much better. So while I can't comment on the other phones, I don't really feel its worth upgrading, they are basically the same, unless you get a great deal. Don't get me wrong, they are all probably great phones, but they are just so similar it makes it a bit pointless.
