Eating a dog in the US

Eating a cow in the US

Eating a dog in Asia

Eating a cow in India



Sociological studies show that it's accepted to eat cow here, not in India, dog in Asia, not in the US.

Why is that?


If I ever go somewhere it's 'allowed'.... I'm eating a dog just to say I did. It's seriously on my 'bucket list"

Personally I don't care. When I was in China I ate things I have no idea what it was. I could have eaten some dog... who knows. As long as it tastes good I don't care what animal it is. :D
 
Some of it is religious beliefs (cows are considered sacred in India, it's nothing sociological there), and some of it is just how it is. And saying it's OK to eat dog in Asia isn't correct either, there are just some parts of Asia where they eat dog, but the vast majority of it, they don't. China, India, Japan, none of them are really dog eaters. I think it's mainly Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, that area has more of that reputation. Asia is a big place.

I've been to Thailand also, so maybe I ate some there?
 
Eating rabbit is generally acceptable, but squirrel not so much. I've eaten both and there's not much difference and both are technically rodents. If you want an interesting meal and find yourself in Alsace, order andouillette.
 
If it's raised as food, it's food
If it's raised as a pet it's a pet.

So I've had Dog, Rabbit, Cow, Birds (All kinds), Cat, Frogs, Squid, Snales, Bugs, Bacteria, and God knows what.
 
im a carnivore, that simple.
dont believe in animal abuse, but sure believe in eating them.

Some of that looked pretty good. I don't do the bug thing though, that is just disgusting to me. When I was in Thailand they had bug carts like we have hotdog carts in city's in America. A couple friends ate the bugs and said they were like potato chips, but I just took their word for it :)

exactly.... that's the part where sociology comes in. Nothing like placing a picture of a lip-plate chick that her men think is sexy, next to a picture of a sexy girl in western culture to contrast differences.

But if you bring a lipplate tribe man over to the US, should he be required to all of sudden, think Jessica Alba is hot?

I don't have a plate in my lip (or my skull, for that matter) nor do I have my face covered in tribal Maori tattos and i don't think Jessica Alba is hot. I missed the statute where it is mandated that I must. Did GW slip that into the Patriot Act?

Because a cow is culturally considered a sacred animal in India and generally not readily available for consumption. Anyone as a visitor (with this knowledge ... ignorance is another matter) should expect not to be eating beef.

Eating dog meat in this country is prohibited. The USDA does not approve it for general consumption and you are not allowed to serve it or import it. It is also illegal to kill a dog for consumption. Now granted it's not illegal to consume dog meat, but how would you obtain said meat without violating local statutes?

You seriously believe that all Asians eat dog? Have any basis for that or is it just a stereotype that you believe to be true?
 
Well if the OP is really concerned, just stick to veggies. I've never heard of any culture having serious cultural taboos against vegetables.

no... but thanks for proving my point.... I'm sure some Indians eat cow too. Try not to find reasons to get offended. I know your lifestyle typically breeds the "i'm a victim" mentality, but that doesn't mean I think all asians eat dog.

If there is a "lifestyle that breeds 'I'm a victim mentality'," it is the human being on human being, world wide lifestyle.

We seem to victimize one another rather well, irrespective of personal lifestyle or choices.

What does that have to do with anything? You implied that one should expect Asians to eat dog and I was explicitly talking about that. What does my homosexuality, or as you call it a "lifestyle", have anything to do with this? I see time and time again you try to bring in irrelevant information as arguments for your umm... purpose. It doesn't work and just makes you look inexperienced in debating.
