You have partitioned your SD card already?[/QUOTE said:
No I havent..not yet. I guess gparted is the way to start and that is next weekends project. Thanks for the info, I will research further.

I assume the process is:
Backup with Titanium to SD Card and to PC
Put Gparted on bootable cd and run
Use S2D to move stuff to Card.

I think one of my big memory hogs is Swype which I love, but am a bit scared to uninstall the stock Cyanogen keyboard. Together the eat up 40mb+

I am currently on the Stock 2.3.3 Sense ROM with A2SD+ compiled by Neophyte360. Very fast and stable. No much eye candy though as it has the old HTC Sense in it.

I'm now running dGB with 65mb Hboot. Runs really well and has some additions that are really nice.

I've tried allsorts to now including but not limited to:
Oxygen, Redux 1.2/2.0, Insertcoin, CM7, MIUI (AU&UK), PyramidMod007 (Uber slow - lasted 3 hours!) Dev/null Cool AceS Mix and Leedroid in various flavours.

dGB is looking like a keeper for me for now. The only nandroids i have are this and Oxygen. Just find the Sense ROM's not for me...

Bought the phone used in June and was really scared of updating, rooting etc. But if you read the instructions and understand what your doing, it's great fun.

Does anyone know if this issue with Gingervillain and the market reading insignificant storage space issue has been resolved? Been stuck on 3.3 for months now with no sign of an update?

Which version of Market is it? Did you try upgrading Market using Villain Setup?

3.3.11.

As far as I can see in Villain set up, this is the latest version. I'm getting the low space error even with apps not from the market, and when I'm trying to move apps to the SD Card.

I'm tempted to move to a different ROM, but I love GV.

After upgrading to 3.3.11, Market was working fine for me, when I was using GV 3.3.
I'm not using GV anymore and unfortunately I don't know how to resolve this issue.

It's not a market issue.

Off topic.
You're moving apps to sd manually? Did you remove the dark tremor a2sd script then?

Not removed anything as far add I know. I'm moving them via app2sd app. But also get the error then moving them manually via settings/applications

Yes but you have a2sd+ and then using that app, doesn't really make sense. You're splitting apps into 3 locations, provided you have an ext partition

If you're low on space you should move dalvik cache to sd using either terminal emulator or a2sd GUI

To be honest, as much as I think I know about 'droid, I can't get my head around a2sd+. I thought that a2sd+ allowed the moving of apps through the app2SD app, and the app2SD would ONLY work if you have a2sd+ installed.

Since I last installed GV, the a2sd+ app has been missing, though I had it a few installs ago. I think a clean install with GV3.3 is in order.

The wife's gonna kill me LOL. She hates me messing with my phone.

Andy.

Okay so I just installed GV3.3, and again a2sd+ is missing. I know I had it in an earlier version of GV.
Has it been removed?

A2sd+ is a script that runs at start up and links all your /data/app files to /sd-ext/app. Moving them for you.

Apps2sd app is just an app that let's you bulk move using the native "move to sd" function.

Have you read our root memory faq?

I think I did when I first rooted, but we're talking well over a year ago.

I've had a few problems with my phone crashing, and reverting to a clean install of GV by itself for some reason. With that happening, be installing later versions, and doing restores when things have gone tits up, I think I've kinda lost track of where I'm up to with my GV install.

I do remember seeing the a2sd+ GUI in an earlier install, but I cant see it with this clean install of GV.

I'm starting to go off GV to be honest. After the problems I've had with it lately. However I do like how you can update it from within the GV Setup app.

Is there another ROM that has a similer update feature?

Andy.

This is another good example. Before I did this clean install, I ran a nandroid back up. I wasn't happy with having to redo everything again, so I just decided to restore this fresh back up. Once it had restored, it was like a clean install had still taken place, and EVERYTHING that I backed up was missing.

Wierd.

My GV seems to have a mind of its own at the moment.

what recovery are you using?

what recovery are you using?

CWM-AlphaRev Recovery v2.5.1.8

Always worked fine till recently.

I'm looking at the dGB rom that you guys have running. Will the CM7 image table that I have running be able to take advantage of the small size, or will there be alot of wasted space in the partition that the ROM sits in?

It's awful. Get off that immediately.

We recommend 2 recoveries

1) for erase size 20,000 users - cwm 2.5.0.7

2) for erase size 40,000 users - Amon-RA 2.0.1

Both in our toolbox thread.

To check erase size, download a terminal emulator from the market and type "cat /proc/mtd" and press enter. That's a space after cat

Okay consider it got off LOL.

I'm currently restoring an older back up, that seems to be working fine. I'll get onto changing the recovery once the restore is complete.

To answer the "less urgent" question:

dGB will easily fit in the CM7 table - in fact it will fit in twice :D

It'll work just fine, but you could gain more with one of Dan's dGB hboots.
