Exactly! So here I am, went and got the 8 yesterday. Now im wishing I had kept the first one as this one has some light bleeding around the screen edges. Figures

I would be exchanging that thing right away. Anytime I'm within the return window l will exchange when any issue shows up.
 
I would love to know what light bleed looks like especially on a white device cause I don't think I've ever experienced on a phone or tablet.

Still nothing I ever experienced. I started off with the all black Evo then the white when it was released.
The only phone I've had which was a disaster was the Evo 3D. I think light bleed would've been the least of it's problems.
 
I just tried to upload a screen capture but it doesn't reveal the issue. Basically, take a solid black wallpaper (or watch a Netflix or other video with black bars on the screen in a dark room and look for hot spots of light on the sreen edge causing a discoloration to the screen.

Yeah, I didn't have it but there were a lot of people that it was pretty bad.

Evo 3d ended up being the biggest gimmick phone. Glad I opted for the photon, even though Motorola botched up the support.

Another example would be the runner lights that they have at the movies... but imagine seeing that near the edge of the screen.

My talk was with someone who could act on the behest of Dan Heese. They made up very well for their goof. What Sprint did for me was out of the scope of even what retentions can do. :thumbup:

Out of curiosity, how are you liking the 8.0 so far? Do you plan on offloading the 10.1 with your recent acquisition of the 8.0? Or are you still going to keep it regardless? :)
 
I can't lie. I keep asking myself what did I pay $400 (+tax) for. Without a doubt it's a great tablet and speedy as all get out. I'm not experiencing buyers remorse but I am thinking come Sept/Oct there will be the Note 3. I'm also thinking for the price it should've been the 3G version.

Neo, your ears must be ringing. I just returned my second Note 8 yesterday. Even though it is super fast and has nice features and even though my wife got it for my birthday, I'm with ScandaLeX in the same line of thinking 432.99 after tax, its just too much for what it is. Between my 8 & 10 it would have been about a grand spent on two devices that basically do the same thing. Im either waiting for the note 3 in the fall which is when ill be ready for a phone upgrade or for when the Note 8 drops to 299 around the holiday shopping season. The Note 10.1 is still a great device that I use daily. Now i have two cases i got for the 8.0 getting no use. If you or ScandaLeX each wants one, you can have 'em. Just PayPal me for the shipping from TX to you and it's yours. One is the Moko ultra thin backshell case, the other is an ExAct TPU case, both are black.
Let me know.
 
LOL. I don't have the 8.0. Mainly lurking around this forum and causing trouble. :p

As it stands, I've practically given up on getting the Note 8.0 (for now). I've put the funds into other gadgets like the Samsung smart dock for the Note 2 and a Wacom Intuos5 Small graphics tablet. Can't wait till it arrives. Going to experiment a couple setups and seeing if the 10.1 USB OTG, USB to micro USB cable and extension cable will work between the 10.1 and smart dock. ;)
 
Has the Note 8 turned out to be a bit of a damp squib with regards to what you get for its very expensive price?

I'm not seeing the " Wow,this is fantastic " enthusiasm on here or other forums. To be honest, I really wanted it to be a smaller version of the 10.1 and blow the competition out of the water.

I haven't had the opportunity to play with one yet, as the launch in the UK has been an absolute joke. Its meant to go on general release later this week. I think from what I've read, it will need a significant price drop before I'm tempted.

Unfortunately as a Note 10.1 owner, it's not a big improvement in my eyes. Smaller and lighter is what it has over the 10.1. The 10.1 has a more rich feature set compared to the 8.0. Value wise that puts the 10.1 over the 8.0. I, too, wished it was a smaller form of the 10.1 design and not resemble a phone. But that's just me.
 
Exactly my experiences too i really wanted to like it more because of the easy portable nature. The ppi is a liitle higher than the 10.1 which is really only noticeable on text crispness but the 10.1 isnt bad by any means. If didnt already own the 10.1, im not sure I'd go for it over the 10.1

In a word....YES!

I believe the only thing it has over the Note 2 & 10.1 is speed and not by much. The WOW factor went away after about 2 days.
Now I feel after having used it that it's best purpose is for those who have a dumb phone & want a tablet and no matter how much people crave multitasking, I feel it's best done on the 10" variety.
Even on the 8" screen there still isn't enough room to work comfortably.

This is going back and I'll just wait on the Note 3.
Something well worth the price tag that comes with a cellular antennae.
 
It will be interesting to find out how many of these have been sold. I've yet to see any advertising for it in the UK. Has there been extensive marketing in the US/Asia/Euro zones?
 
I must be the only person on here that loves my Note 8. I can't put the thing down, I'm listening to music on it all day at work and when I get home I'm surfing the web, reading email and watching youtube and reading Flipboard with it on the couch. I subscribed to a couple magazines, downloaded a couple books. I set it up to control my home theater setup with the Peel Remote program so sometimes I use it as a remote. I really like the Peel cable guide's UI. I also like watching netflix and playing games on it while in bed. I installed a tethering app on my Note 2 so I can always have the 8 connected to the net even when I'm not around wifi. I still think $350 would have been the right price, but even with that, I have no buyer's remorse whatsoever.

My 8 has taken the role of couch duty from my Macbook Pro, which gets quite hot on the lap after awhile. I don't think it can do anything that my Note 2 can't, aside from the Peel Remote/IR stuff, but for what it does, I enjoy the larger screen over my Note 2. My Note 2 battery lasts forever now because I never use it anymore for things that I am now doing on the 8 instead.
 
I just played with the 8.0 at a local NCIX after picking up my order. It was pretty responsive, but didn't give me any 'wow' factor. In fact, it made me decide not to get one at all. I felt like this was nothing more than an oversized Note 2 without the phone capabilities. Nothing about it made me feel like I was working with a tablet. :(

I think the 10.1 spoiled me big time and made me expect more from the 8.0; especially at such a high price point. I see no value in getting one now. I'm actually more interested with the Surface Pro tablet and Full HD digitizer than this. But the big appeal is being able to use full Window programs with the digital pen and the fact that the price is about what one would expect for something like that.

But that's just me. I think this will be the first Note I'm pretty disappointed in. :(
