Help Will the unlocked HTC Desire HD work in India?

tbh.. i try nt to open more dan 3-4 apps at 1 tym.. i mean even wen u overload u super computer it is bound to lag...

i try to keep it simple and have nt experienced any lag until now...

respect the machine and it will respect u :D

Edit: wat do u think abt task killer apps?? some in dis forum say it is good aome oders say it jus hogs on the cpu... i hv nt found any use of it until yet.. so i hv nt installed any..

have installed d lookout antivirus tho.. seems 2 b good.. bt only time will tell how much :)
 
well u must use SGS my frnd...open just 2 apps and u will bang ur head and throw...I have to constantly use the task manager to kill apps

I have had the original desire, it was super fast compared to my SGS
 
android runs on Linux kernel and Linux does not attract viruses generally...so antivirus not needed on android I believe,, its processes will keep running background eats up battery, slows down etc

i knw abt d linux kernel.. hell i wrk on Solaris for cryin out out loud :D

gr8 man if u work with solaris I should shut up for linux :)

but virus is a problem for symbian OS, anyways symbian and nokia sucks big time :)

I have checked this morning, expansys still shows the same price for HTC Desire HD (either with goodies or without goodies) - 425.52 GBP (excluding VAT and shipping charges). Wish I could post screenshots here (I don't know if allowed and how to).
 
Can we use ICICI Credit card or SBI card for online payment?.
Delievery method should be fedex Asia or DHL?.

Why not :cool:? You can easily use ICICI/SBI credit cards. No problem at all.

I will book this phone within 1-2 days.

Only thing I want to investigate is that custom duty should be paid on the amount which exceeds 25,000 INR. For HTC Desire HD, import duty should be applicable on (425.52 GBP - 25,000 INR) :confused: but punk_19 paid duty on overall bill of ~450 GBP. :(
 
guys.. again.. i cannot clearly say dat i paid duty on full 450gbp...
there is no such info on the bills i have.. Indian customs are not clear that ways..
I am just assuming the %age based on the amount i paid to Expansys..
If the duty is legally applied on 425gbp den the %age i have assumed wd increase...

For those of you in PUNE this guy manymoreshoppe1_at_gmail.com is one of the suppliers , I just Purchased my Desire Z from him for 28K with a 1 year Warranty . The phone was in a sealed packed condition , I personally opened it and checked for everything before purchasing , works like a hot knife on butter.

He imports his products from HK/Singapore so they work on Asian Frequencies.

I also asked him about the DHD and asked him to give a quote and told him Its available from the UK for 34K so if he prices around that then I can give him some more customers. He is going to mail me the quote which I will share with you.

the desire z is available in mumbai too for the same price.. d problem is with the availability of the DHD.. hope dat is sorted out soon too..

neways.. regarding the car kit.. i guess it jus come wit a couple of mounts which is basically a stand with which u can place ur DHD anywhere in ur car.. even on d windshield while using maps.. its is a suction mount so it'l create a vacuum on d wind shield.. dnt knw hw good it is tho.. never used it..

and d car kit also has a car charger....

Well .. shouldn't we order it from UK ? :confused: Because from UK, in 34,000 INR you will get DHD with freebies with no warranty whereas whenever (god knows :mad:) DHD gets launched in India, the expected price of DHD is 34-36k INR with warranty (but probably with no freebies).

So, only advantage of the wait is that we will get warranty if we buy our DHD in India. Anybody agreeing/disagreeing with me ? :rolleyes:

I am thinking why not to order DHD from UK !! :cool:

@punk_19: Say, while DHD getting delivered from UK to India, what if DHD breaks!! You earlier mentioned that any losses during shipment, they will be happy to replace it (although we would need to incur the courier expenses while sending it back to UK) ? But, am afraid, is such claim is actually from expansys or DHL ? :confused: Did you ask for any insurance to cover any incident during shipment ? :o

And we will get UK warranty na ? :o Coz I am okay with UK warranty if something happens to DHD. (kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padta hai)

thats good news and seems most of the dealers are saying these phones should launch in india in comming few weeks...

I guess its grey market desire z so wont be under proper warranty yet

and I would really like to know if its HINGE is good ? I read a lot about its hinge problem, how do u find it ?

can u give me this guys number and shop address in pune ?
 
Yes, I am also worried if DHD breaks in shipping, and other concerns are navigation and warranty. Looks like price is not fixed yet in India..who knows if it comes in 30K...so I am going to wait until next friday and also by the time I can see much awaited Nexus S specs( dual core etc..)

Its been a few days since u've been using DHD... have read in a lot of reviews and on videos on you tube that the battery doesn't last even for 1 day. Howz it going for you? Let us know ur opinion and how much time ur using wifi...

@fusion123 - Punk_19 would need to first do few cycles of charge/discharge completely in order to make the battery of his phone "live".

@punk_19 - Also, apart from battery usage (in the below format as discussed in dedicated battery thread), could you also tell us about speaker phone (have heard its low), earphone (have heard its just okay), photo-shoot (cause it doesn't have a 'capture' physical key, so while taking pictures, when you tap the phone, does pictures get a bit shakey) :o, sms-delete (have heard it takes 5-6 taps & takes 5 seconds to delete one sms), power-button (ill-placed & not easy to use), volume-button-getting-operated-accidentally :o Do not feel, am complaining about issues. For me its the best phone out there :)

For battery :
Uptime Length: 1.25 days and then went to 15% battery
Accellerator: Off
3G Or 2G: 2G
Wireless On: Off
GPS On: Off
Automatic Brightness: Off

Misc: Music playback with normal settings (no dolby or SRS) for 30 mins
