no, evo is a great phone but ill probably be switching to an iphone if it comes on sprint and jailbreak it if possible to look like launcher pro. or if htc comes out with a phone that has a build quality of the iphone 4 ill take it, but for me after holding the iphone 4 the build quality is so so great in the hands and then going back playing with my evo seems so much like a toy, navigation though is hands down a billion times better on evo and if sprint gets the iphone 5 it should be great with sprint navigation on it.

Just bought my $50 gift card and put it on preorder. Passing the 4g over to my mom, big upgrade from her blackberry. Hope to have root on the 3d soon after the release.

Bottem line is that if we all were able to upgrade we would.Im upgradeing thru my family plan . my evo is moveing to PoPs ... There is nothing bad to say about the evo .. it was a proud phone to own .. the 3D is going to be cool ,, not like you need glasses to watch .. so why not .. this phone will be the juggernaut that the evo WAS !!!! To all the 3d evo bashing .. be mature and admit you want it .. you need it ... you just cant get one becuse >>>> whatever your reason is ... LOL ... i will always be on the cutting edge .. nomatter the price ... thats my 2 cents .. BTW im # 2 on my local sprint store where i bought my 1st EVO .. so i will have it june 24th. no line ..no waiting.. :D:D:D

what to do now ... do i get my pre-ordered EVO 3d from bestbuy on the 24th or order my EVO 3D on the 21st from sprint online being a premier member.

SO i guess i would receive on the 22nd .. so two days earlier ...
does sprint have a MIR anymore or they did away with them for good

trying to see any benefits from getting from BestBuy over sprint.

I am happy i ordered the nexus S from BB being that they price matched the phone to $99 matching amazons price but the EVO 3d wont drop in price

Wow.... Just my opinion on others opinions.

3d is a gimmick???? That's why everything is going to 3d. (not to mention its no glasses 3d.) 3d is the future, and most people that use smart phones are using them not just for emailing, web browsing etc... but for the media as well.

Not a big upgrade in hardware???? everything is twice as fast! 1ghz first gen snapdragon vs. 1.2ghz dual core 2nd gen. half a gig of ram vs. a gig. qhd display with better pixel res. and all the other updates.

Not to mention sense 2.0 and 2.3.4 gingerbread. Sounds like an upgrade to me.

At any rate I'm saying your wrong, I'm just stating my opinion on it.

I'm can't upgrade to 2012 so I will be buying on outright. Its fast as hell, has all the new software, and 3d is the future for video. Plus I heard from a sprint tech that it takes awesome 2d vids and pics to.

Just my opinion, if u don't agree then cool. Won't change my mind though.

Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.

IMO, the 3d is overshadowing the other benefits of the phone. Processor, screen, and you know there will be other cool new things. I think 3d is hurting and not helping because a dual core evo2 with a much clearer screen is worth the upgrade itself.

That being said, I probably won't be upgrading because I don't want design energy going into stuff I wont use. Can you imagine sitting in an airport watching 3d movies with the stupid glasses on? And to show it off you have to carry those stupis glasses around with you to let people use them. I dont even like 3d movies hardly.

Umm. Srsly. ;)

The 3vo is glasses-free 3D, and if you're not watching or making movies or pictures with it, it's off and acts like a souped-up Sensation.

I got the Evo because it was the Evo - don't have 4G where I live, but I've tried it on travel - for my uses - meh.

I'll get the 3vo with the same thought in mind on 3D - just another smartphone feature I'll likely not use much.

But - there's no right or wrong opinion about that part.

I do think it's shaping up to be a lot of phone for the money, tho.

I saw a HTC video where the lady said she brought some glasses for people to use. Either way I agree it will be a lot of phone, but there is such a thing as overkill. Is much rather a non 3d upgrade version of the EVO

That being said, if I go and play with one and love it, ill get one. Hopefully HTC has a better camera and camcorder this time around.

I believe you but have no clue what that's about.

The display is made by Sharp, using parallax barrier technology no unlike that found in the glasses-free Nintendo 3DS.

The CTIA vids, and HTC site are specific about the no-glasses part.

Sorry, I don't spend all day worrying about what cell phone has what, I didn't even know there was a 3d coming out till a few days ago at which point I started looking up some videos. I didn't know that was a crime. But I know what I heard in the few short videos I saw. If I can find it gain, I'll post it.

Edit: Found the video, I misunderstood what the girl was saying, she was saying the glasses were for watching when playing through HDMI in 3d.

Everything you want to know about the Evo 3D is here - HTC EVO 3D - Android Forums

We've even gotten the leaked schematic and verified what it has under the hood.

Lots of helpful info there.

Not sure about the crime comment, I wasn't attacking you, so I can't respond to that.

Remember me? I remember you, we always got on fine and I'm still the same cat. :) ;)

Looking at actually getting this phone, and not at all for the 3d aspect. Honestly I could care less if it has 3d at all, I'm getting it for the fact its a souped up phone that should be badass.

The EVO 3D will be out in just a few days. I'm not seeing much chatter about those clamoring to snag one.

My EVO is just now a year old, and I can upgrade to the 3D for $50. I put my name on the list, but not sure if I will pick it up. I can use the extra H.P. from the dual processors, but doesn't sound like a lot more than that in terms of upgrades, unless 3D is really important to you.

So what's the general tenor among the faithful?

My names brad to Haha weird...but I'm def jumping on the 3d my evo is only a year old as well but I am really excited for the better processor size!! And the 3d in general and the few other additions such as sense 3.0 and full gingerbread not just the water down version which some phones did receive :( :( :(

Head over to the Evo 3D section and you will see tons of chatter from us Evo owners (and tons of others).

Right now, my top choice for upgrade is the Photon 4G. It's just too much like my EVO 4G, w/ higher performance specs that match what I had wanted on the original EVO in the first place.

The EVO 3D still looks like it will be such a great device, but when I compare what is more practical for my needs and especially with regards to business, the Photon seems to meet more of the important points over the EVO 3D.

I'm sure many are really excited about the upcoming release. I'm actually more excited because once the EVO 3D is released, I'm hoping they'll announce a "formal" release date and pricing for the Photon 4G.

dang I just found out I have to wait till Oct 2012 before i can upgrade...... I suppose I'll be skipping the evo 3D and getting the flagship that succeeds it.

I just bought the extended battery for my 4G. After reading the reviews I'm not psyched at all for the 3D, and could care less about 3d pics. And from what I hear the battery is not that great.

Along with the new processor speeds, do any of us really run any software apps that need more speed? My 4g seems fine...

If I do upgrade I may switch to the Galaxy S2, but I would have to play with it first...or maybe the 3D if it can use the extended battery I just bought for the 4G

Im gonna pass on the 3d. Not interested in the 3d stuff. Sure I dont have to use it but thats just more junk on my phone that I dont want or need taking up space. Similar to all the bloatware that comes on the phone that I have to root to remove.

I'm not going for the EVO 3D, its a very good phone, but I am still keeping my current EVO 4G at least until Sep/Oct/Nov because by then we will know if the Motorola Photon 4G is unlocked and or the new HTC flag phone should be coming out. I think its the HTC Kingdom which is basically the EVO 3D but without the 3D lol

What does it take to qualify for the upgrade? I wasn't planning on purchasing a 3D yet but my EVO just took a dump, so it might be something worth thinking about.

Regarding the Photon 4G, that will have a docking station similar to the Atrix??? Literally the only thing I want for my Evo4G is more power and the ability to dock so I can finally stop taking my laptop everywhere and use my phone and docking station to do simple word processing, emailing and internet browsing.

I don't want to get a stupid Pad (be it an "i" or something else).

Yup. It'll have a dock, just like the Atrix. I started a thread in the Photon sub-forum discussing accessories. Even though there aren't many announced yet, more accessories are likely to pop-up after the EVO 3D release week is over and the lead-up to the Photon release starts (I'm assuming in a couple weeks, things will start to ramp up).

The Photon is geared more towards business people that want a device that adheres to their business needs, while still being able to accommodate their personal needs. So it'll make editing/opening Microsoft Office documents much easier.
