Root Wireless Tether on GB.

Wireless Tether works fine for me too. I'm going try the TBH 3G hotspot patch, again, now. I don't know why I need it, but hey, why now? You know? ;)

^ What are you all doing to get that to work? I tried that last night and still got the VZW page immediately on connection. Did you apply the TBH patch first before using?

I can't get Wireless Tether to work. My WiFi Xoom connects to my regular wireless network at home just fine but I need to use Wireless Tether at work. When I start Wireless tether it pops up in the Xoom's list of available networks but when I click on it to connect it keeps saying it is obtaining the IP address from Wireless Tether and never changes or works. Any ideas? If there are any .apks or patches I need, could someone point me in the right direction?
The 3G Mobile Hotspot app works but directs me to a page to signup for a plan.

downloaded the experimental tether, it is "working" but no data is actually used. eg my ipod connects to the network but says there is no internet

Same here connecting with my ipad or laptop. It connects but there is no internet access.

Doing the same thing to me. I downloaded and patched the 3G hotspot but that isn't working anymore either. I guess we'll have to wait for wireless/wifi tether to get updated.

i did the patch and my wifi tether is working now. i'm connected through the verizon connection but i was never prompted to subscribe to the service through the phone browser or my computer. and with the rumor that its free for a month, i may just use this fix until something else becomes available or it stops working. i'm sure it won't take long to get some roms out that get rid of whatever is causing the mobile hotspot app to keep interrupting wireless tether.

I used the TBH patch as well and got a working connection with the vzw hotspot app. I also downloaded the wireless tether 3.0 release linked above, and this is working too. The only thing I could think of is make sure you're flashing the TBH patch only, there is another package that replaces the 3g mobile hotspot app, that may be causing some problems.

It is very strange. Nothing comes up under Running Services when after you launch the 3G Hotspot. How can this be hidden like this?

^ If the programing for the 3G app is anything like the Fascinate, the 'app' that VZW uses to route all data to it's own tethering app is buried in the kernel. It may be part of some other process, such as settings or wi-fi.

That would make sense. If the devs can't get around this then I'll be sticking with froyo. I'm experiencing NO benefits from the stock gingerblur. Its not as smooth as liberty, apex, or rubix. The only reason I haven't went back to froyo again yet is I don't feel like sbf'ing again yet. The new look is quite nice and there are a couple neat features that I wouldn't use anyway. I'm going to hold out to see if things get better with gingerbread. But I'll be keeping my sbf handy :P

Feels like our rooted world is crumbling around us. They're systematically disabling our benefits to rooting. Start by locking down the bootloader so we're forced to run their kernels then they make their kernels features locked down.
