Root ZTE U960 ROM Discussion

Hello I want to ask some help from you.I would like the latest ROM but I cannot continue when the phone fastboot mode I connect the PC, for there only the adb interface you can see the pc nothing else to do, there is no com port, there is no modem .Could someone help in this.Thank you.

ZTE has updated the smartphone N880E to Jelly Bean: ZTE launches the N880E smart phone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in China - ZTE Corporation

The hardware of this phone it's very similar to the U960: if they migrate also the dual sim dialer we could have Jelly Belly for our phone...
But I don't know if ZTE want to spend "money" for update this "unsual" phone...

Btw, Etotalk said that our phone will have 4.0 ICS (ZTE is developing update)... Does anyone got confirmation from another more official sources?

If all is working correctly you dont need to put the phone manually in fastboot, just connect the phone normally and launche the updatere, the phone should reboot itself in the correct mode.

Hello what are the benefits of the multi kernal installer from Solutor - can someone explain this?

just look at the file names, more available memory and/or faster CPU.

That's all.

Can i try different kernals witout changing something in my installed Rom?

Yes that's the point of the installer.

You can use it with the six included kernels and with any boot.img file, just drop it in the working folder, and select it when asked.

Did i update the Baseband to B08 with the multi kernal installer?
thanks for more information about the kernals

The kernel updater is a kernel updater, nothing else is touched.

I had to install virtual winxp on win7 64bit and successfully implement the command "adb fastboot"
for example:

... but 02b08 one click install the updater is not successful ..... (
follow the instructions at: Download Windows XP Mode
full USB Driver installed on virtual winxp
I had Win7 64bit ....
I need someone to guide more ...

Don't imagine inexistent requirements.... XP is required for the zte one click updater, the kernel updater works in any windows version.

So it does not start one click updater.my trail volume down and turn on, 8-10 sec, start-up release then volume button, is I connect pc but single click updater does not start.

I made the international version of the multi kernel flasher, and i assembled it together with six flavor of the 02b08 kernel.

Just download and unpack the file, then launch the boot_change.bat script (keep one eye on the phone to authorize the process, if never done before).

then choose the kernel you want to use, (the file names should be self-explanatory), the kernels are built by LadyGeGe from Malshenzu forum, thanks to him for his work.

I did some color coding to have a quick feedback of the kernel in use

Keep in mind that the 1.4Ghz/397MB (purple) version is experimental, and likely not stable, you should use it for testing purpose only.

Hi Solutor
currently I'm on catty's rom 'zte-u960_2b07-20120611-catty.zip', can I upgrade to your rom directly using recovery?

thanks

i think it is very difficult process.

Mounting the recovery is pretty easy, editing it consciously requires a bit of knowledge, btw in front of your eyes you have the most pwerfull instrument ever invented. Internet a little googling and a little good will will lead to understand more and more, day after day.

Only one sim card can have an active data connection, and viper done care about your sim card, its an internet app, and will use whatever internet connection you got. Ability to make conference calls is totaly up to the viper software in the situation you descript, and have nothing to do with the ammount of sim cards in the phone.

Today, 1.00 CNY = 0.156505 USD
And I compare ZTE U960 price in China with in US.
China price: bettween $108 to $122 (not include shipping fee)
US price: bettween $288 to $320 (not include shipping fee)

Wake up by volume is a mod, like the battery percentage, you don't find them in stock roms.

I missed USSD on the first SIM after the upgrade to 2B08. Just restored my previous FW (2B07) via recovery but it still not works... :(

After recovery try to copy files of \version folder from 2B07 one click updater to the directory of 2B08 updater, change RF.ZTE and try to update again!

(First install 2B07 OCU -> copy files from \version folder -> deinstall 2B07 OCU -> install 2B08 OCU and change existing files of \version folder with the one from 2B07. Do not forget to change the RF.ZTE!)

2B07 one click updater will not work out of the box because a newer version is installed on the phone.

hope this helps... done that also with 2B06 / 2B07
