There's two versions of the unlock or two ways. I think one is XDA. Two is ZTE DEVELOPER. ****edit***** there's also reverse engineering software etc for Linux and other alternative type like Kali or even Ubuntu. Cross Platform

Reverse engineering without any sort of working tool would take months, even years. Our best bet is a CVE exploit. We know little to nothing about our bootloader and what kind of nasty surprises it might have in store for us if we go screwing with it.

HOWEVER we do know that rooting through an exploit through Android is relatively safe and it will only be a matter of time until some flaw in 6.0.1 is discovered to allow us to get root. Once we have root we can pull the recovery partition and examine it.

Did you see what I asked you yesterday?

Reverse engineering it fast would require quite a few phones to destroy and tools most people don't have. Probably someone that can read Chinese too.

The Axon just requires a special fastboot command to do it. This phone has no way to use fastboot that we are aware of, so that won't work.

Oh, there is a way, we just haven't found it yet, and ZTE refuses to help. Without a bootloader, Android devices wouldn't boot. However, fastboot can be disabled, or completely zeroed out, so that only someone with the proper flashing setup can access it. ( Willing to bet ZTE has a fastboot for this phone, so they can restore the firmware image. If not, they have a flash tool)

Of course they have a flash tool and and also this phone has to have a bootloader we just can't access it . How else would they even put an OS on it ? If Messi can't crack this phone and I hope he does I got faith in him our only option is most likely to get it from ZTE somehow? Either demand it or someone on the inside leaks it . I think the focus of our research should start leaning towards Chinese development phones and apps. How did you find anything on the update? It all looks like Chinese jiberish to me?

I'm sure they have their own software to do it. They couldn't test software changes in house without a way to flash it.

I was looking through the B14 build and seen some key master codes through the update script. I don't know if it works as a master key to flash files onto the Device though
I've seen the same type of things in the logs too. I don't know if they are universal or specific to each device. I don't have a clue how to test them anyway.

i just will give up..... it's not a metropc problem or t-mobile it's the zte policy , they don't care about developers and development for their devices, they just want to sale it.. a phone that have a locked bootloader / no fastboot access is very difficult to get root on it unless kingroot found an exploit on google mm that's not patched yet on the zmax & even if king root made it , it's going to be a temp root and may brick the device coz of the on boot verification fail.... so i'm sorry guys i tested every thing i know in the last few days and never managed to have any progress... i'm gonna stay here in case you need any help...

I second that. I will be returning my Zmax Pro later this week. I am going to get a Note 5 instead. I will never buy from ZTE again. Good luck.

I just dont understand. Why dont they release a copy of their flashing tool? It would take very little effort to do it and please many people. ZTE needs to get their heads out of their asses. The customers matter too. Samsung will have a new customer soon. Hope some ZTE employees are reading this.

According to what i understand , they are afraid that people will break their phones if they allowed them to root/modify their devices then they will ask zte to fix their phones covered by the warranty which will cause them to lose some shi*** money fixing those customers devices.

Rooting voids warranty. If their warranty doesn't mention root and how it voids warranty then they are the most stupid people I have heard of.

I'd like to say one more thing before I pretty much leave the Zmax forums. The fact that many people ignored me and Messi did not help a single bit.
We have no EDL access. The black screen is still the FTM mode, I confirmed it with the QPST tool.

I made it clear that a CVE would be the fastest and safest way of rooting, but instead of people talking about that, they spammed the thread with update questions... Which has nothing to do with obtaining root because we never had root so it wouldnt matter if b14 patched something or not.

Those who didnt know what a CVE was would rather just sit there and say "idk what it means" instead of spending 30 seconds on Google reading about it.

This thread has been derailed countless times. So much infact that the mods dont even fix it anymore. ZTE is crappy, but the way the community here handled this thread and the previous thread didnt do well either. If you are not willing to learn and willing to take risks, please dont post here.

The real reason they don't want us to root is because this budget phone would be a total beast with a custom ROM. In their minds this translates into no one buying their higher end devices.
