Root ZTE ZMAX Pro (Z981) "off topic" root discussion

Oh.. I Still Own The Zmax Pro..
GREAT little $39.99 <-- (Number Port) phone for me.. ;)

Does hearing The Truth hurt you in some way ???

Not discussing the issue is not going to make it go away.

I stated FACTS.... You.. are hoping for Fiction..
I would love Nothing Better than to be proven 100% WRONG.. and have ZTE "see the light" and allow bootloader access.. But They Are Not.

Sorry if the TRUTH hurts... My words don't carry ANY WEIGHT around here.. :D 90 asked a question and I HONESTLY answered it.. Not even Messi can crack the code... so, the only recourse is for *ZTE TO ALLOW IT*
If you don't like the answer that's not my issue..
But everything I stated is the truth. :)
facts? lol, i think you are confusing facts with opinions.

and dude ive been following this thread from the start. i find it interesting and entertaining. but your name always jumps out (especially when you had your old avatar) of the 15 dumbest posts in all 60+ pages, you gotta be the owner of at least 10.
the best ones were when you first get a bunch of people riled up because they didn't feel the need to donate to messi device fund. also the one where you out of the blue tell everyone something like "its time to take a break, everyone stop working on getting root for a few days" it would be nice if the forums had a squelch button. since ive yet to see you contribute a single thing, and at the same time tend to be a hindrance.

Lmao! That old avi with those huge bug eyes in combination with his comments provided me some good laughs. Also, he always uses the  which cracks me up. Is that the "I'm stone cold serious" avatar?

I'm saving to buy another zmax pro so I can go full throttle. If I brick I'll have a spare. I enjoy playing Ingress and FPS games anyhow.

Your Walmart will eventually get it.... But... it is here in ( *Cali* ) for $149.99 + Sim Package @ $19.99..
But.. why not get it for $39.99 like I did with Metro... Just port a number, and your good to go..
I wouldn't mind having the original zmax again.

I'm just posting to give an example of how much more can be done with root.. my number 1 devices are HTC. But this max pro is the best phone for the buck. I then found mid ground doing light mods till we figure out root. Then I can do more.. it's now a hybrid HTC with blinkfeed.. colors are vivid.. I want root even more now..

It will always say the device has not been updated after a "B" update on ZTE and this is a known glitch. Any "B" update on Metro includes a signing key that has been modified by Metro at the carrier level. I am still talking to my people/ ZTE's people from Metro to try and get somewhere, I think swapping system and user partitions on the update.zip for the A7 is a good direction. Also, people.. please stop posting what % kingroot gets to. I can make it say 100% by rollling my clock back by 20 seconds. (manually setting time) which means that is not a real progress bar.

I've updated my Metro-branded Pro from B08 to B12 and under system updates it says I updated 23:02 11/27/2016.

Edit: sorry, now that I thought about it, my post isn't root related

When i updated to b12 it gave me so many problems
Multi touch
Loss of 4g
Missed calls
Missed sms

I had to go get a warranty replacement i don't trust zte if they dont even test there software

colors are vivid..
Dude... Nice!
It's great to pop in and see something exciting!
The other thread use to be a root thread... But now that it's nothing more than a "Hope" thread!!! And the bitter's over there are actually mad their 99 buck phone is just that.. A 99 buck phone that is NEVER going to get root :D
They don't understand ZTE controls the show going forward.. and the B14 update as well as the February rollout of 7.0.0 N is only going to clamp the whole Root Dream down even tighter..

So.. Keep the nice pics coming! We need something to get our minds off of the fact that we ain't getting root until some team like kingroot plays with it late this year or early into 2018 once the request count gets up to the minimum.. but by then, these little budget jobs are going to be old..tired and yesterday's news. :D

Oh Yeah...
Stay away from that garbage update.. let others be the "Beta Testers" for any update.. including Nugat when it hits in Feb/March.. It's hard enough to get a "Good" ZMP with the percentage of post I've read here, ZTE's forums and XDA.. lots of crappy ones in the wild.. I feel very blessed that I got a Great One with Zero issues and of course no B12 update..;)
It's going up for sale at some point over the next several weeks for $125.00 which includes shipping anywhere in 48 states..
So.. I don't know how bad you want or need root.. but did you research if ZTE's root program for the Axon 7 also appplies to the Axon Mini? I thought last I read.. it was not rootable.. I could be dead wrong though.. I also have a 5 inch phone ( I know the Mini is 5.2 ) and it's nice to not have to carry this brick of a 6 inch phone around all the time.. you are going to love the Mini just for it's overall comfort and one handed use as well.
But you know what Jimmy part of me says wait... and see what the Galaxy S8 is going to bring.. I know it's $750.00 but hey.. it's tax time right? and you know after the Note 7 mess they are going to throw EVERYTHING into that S8.. not to mention I love the pitch black of SuperAmoled displays.. it really makes colors pop ! It's going to be one hell of a phone.. ;)

125.00 includes shipping to the 48 states.

Just my two cents, but we have been complaining to the wrong company! Yes, it's ZTEUSA policy and theirs alone for disabling the boot-loader, not allowing an unlock and to remove fast-boot! They're is no other manufacturers at T-Mobile / MetroPCS that does anything like this to their boot-loader, but we don't have enough PRO owners to even get a response from ZTEUSA.
Just my opinion, but we are complaining to the wrong company.
Not sure what you mean exactly, but other manufacturers do in deed lock down their devices. Some have gotten better and allow us bootloader access, some had it and took kit away, suffice it to say there are definitely other manufacturers that do this.

Now complaining to metropcs *may* make a difference. Technically you are not ZTE's customer, you are Metros. They sell all their devices to metro, not direct to us. So Metro orders what they want and ZTE provides.

Gotta learn somehow. Warranty void is there. I bricked a few phones in the beginning lol. The original zmax took awhile to get root. Is anyone in touch with @jcase from XDA?
Yes you gotta learn somehow, I was just saying that's one of the reasons that they are against rooting and flashing. If you royally screw something up, it would be hard to determine, in the space of time a customer will wait for his return, if it was modified or just broke. Gone are the days when a company can tell by stickers (think MS and Xbox360) if a device has been played with. Therefore a logical corporate response is to make sure it's as hard as possible to actually mess it up.

Maybe they could do something with boot loader like we get with carrier unlock. You can get a subsidized phone every 3 months, and then the phone can be carrier unlocked via metro app. Still I don't see any incentive for the company to actually offer that kind of service. They want to keep cost down etc.

Do these last two pages mean unless ZTE plays ball we're never seeing root?
Well not necessarily. I mean root has always been about hacking and exploiting. ZTE has done things to make this difficult. They could then make it easier if they wanted to. However, strictly speaking, It is possible to root and flash etc without the help from or blessing of the manufacturer.

You do alot of hate man. Espionage lol
You Guys Are The Best Man!
I'm really going to miss ya!
I hope I own this device long enough to see it rooted.. But it's just too much stacked against it.
It will take an "Elite Recognized Developer" or the KingRoot team to circumvent the safeguards ZTE has put in the ZMP.
ZTE ALSO LEARNED from having their Zmax circumvented.. thus no way to overload the memory this time around to get root.. :D People forget the ZTE team takes it Personal ( and hears it from their management ) when their safeguards are circumvented by missing a Backdoor..
Phones without Elite Developer's constantly probing them for vulnerabilities are going to become increasingly harder to gain admin access to..

Unless you go with the Moto or Oneplus lines.. it's a crap shoot to not just obtain Root.. But also TWRP and ROM's.. you need those too.. because after you De-Bloat.. install adaway and use a backup app.. you are right back to being bored with the phone.. that may be enough for some.. but let's face AOSP.. CM.. Resurrecton Remix.. Kernels..Along With Xposed is REALLY where it's at when it comes to root.. The Mixing... The Matching.... The Customization... OH MY!!! :D

No one is going to develop for this phone until long after it's old news.. if even then..
I'm just opening your guys eyes to the honest truth is all.. ;)
