Shouldn't twrp.img be recovery.img?
Irregardless, still didn't work. Tried both ways

Yes I tried that as well. Did you take the system update?
The reason I ask is I thought I remembered people saying it added the option to update from sd card. (however I have that option in the stock recovery not updated)

Anyone else heard about this drfone wondershare pc app that's supposedly roots 7000 different types of androids?.. Was just watching a Droidmodder x video about it.. It's a paid app(which sucks to me) but if it will root our phone I'll do it.. Just looking to see if it's legit.. Now to get our bootloader unlocked.. And we're golden

What ppl are saying its able to flash updates from sdcard settings without going into recovery like this one
Yes.. that's what we meant.. after update I tried Kingo root. Went up to 90%, hung for a bit, then failed. I repeated the process several times with same result. I think it's trying to get around something at 90% then fails. I have 2 more things I wanted to try. One will take some knowledge of modifying one or 2 .exe files among possibly other things to make it work if it works. I will relocate the files for tinkering. The other idea I haven't heard talk of is placing su binary in bin or xbin folder of OTA and anything else minus apks that KingRoot installs. If it still updates then we can try downloading SuperSU via play store and see if there's magic.

Did you guys know that when you try to Root with KingoRoot, you need Kingo's Superuser installed first? Just a thought..

What about trying multiple exploits. Maybe buffer overload along with. Idk. Some rooting apps use the same exploit but they are different in the way they work or are scripted. Grasping at straws here. I truly believe root will happen eventually. Persistence. Working together. Not bashing.

Kingo root installs superuser during the root process. I've never heard of installing their superuser first. Just curious, but where did you get that info. I always run Kingo root for the PC from FTM mode so I don't have to deal with their software after root.

I didn't think to try ftm mode, but I will

anyone know the recovery block device location?

adb shell
cat /proc/partitions

of course,
$ ls -al /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name
returns with permission denied.

It was from an older ZTE project, the Concord2. Ppl were having a fight of a time obtaining Root until they used said methods for Kingo..

I actually done that to obtain Temp Root on my ZTE Speed.. Ran benchmark app & KingRoot.apk on device + KingoRoot on PC.. I got rid of my Speed before @hroark13 found the RO disable tho, someone else took it from there.

Hey Messi.. I just replied to your post to get your attention. Can you use the windows app In the YouTube link I posted to extract the system.img.dat in the ota.. repackage it as just a system.img. then use the instructions in the most recent post I made with the g4 link and follow the part that says inject the root. Linux is needed for that part. Then repackage the modded system.img to system.img.dat, place in the ota and send me the modded ota for testing? It looks like it will work but I'm not getting feedback from our Linux users.. if I knew how to use Linux I'd do it myself. For other Linux users here's the file from the link as proof..
