Gonna try something different first when I get home though. Since my PC use isn't being throttled, wifi to PC, Ethernet from PC toPS3. May not need to change phones

Great idea,im thinking of switching to project fi. They might not have unlimited data but I'm a very light data user,no more than 1.5 gigabytes a month and I average about 700 according to metroGonna try something different first when I get home though. Since my PC use isn't being throttled, wifi to PC, Ethernet from PC toPS3. May not need to change phones
Seems they have started linking the imei to the sim card, so you might want to request a unlock code for the desire, it's the only thing I can think that might bypass it, unless they are doing it at a network level like sprint/boost, this is the first time I've seen a GSM network link sims to imei.Meh, I just need to figure out how to swap SIM cards and make it work. Only problem is trying my SIM card is 19 digits, and Metro's website needs a 20 digit SIM. IF I could get that to work I can just switch between this phone for normal use and the old Desire 626s for tethering use.
Regardless, it's already out their, even if they remove the post their are other sites where I've seen this discussion(and the APN settings are a dead horse those are the same settings that you would find with every other metro device, and have been know for a long time. It's been a thing on every network MVNO, I did the same thing on virgin, boost, straight talk, and even did something similar on T-Mobile), and foxifi that's been around for 6 years man, think they don't know? Also zte won't be the one patching this, they for one don't care, and second the network's edit all the ROMs for this type of stuff, metro will be the one doing it, and if they did they would be editing it for all phone(I've got three phone from them and they all use the same tethering software, it's issues in how that software that works on most of there devices work and the fact they are not doing network level filtering(thank goodness, I have a few niche apps that use generic headers and there data gets flaged as PC data when I was at T-Mobile) if you have a problem with people talking about it, go to every forum for every device that metro PCs has KitKat and up(seems they use the same software for KitKat and beyond) and tell everyone to stop talking about it, then guess what anyone that doesn't know how to do it will be shit out of luck, and they will still probably fix the issue in a few yearsJimmy PLEASE refrain from blabbering about the tethering and wifi, many of us are aware of this and it would be better if it wasn't shown to the world. The longer it takes ZTE and Metro to figure out this is even happening, the better... They will find out much faster if you keep spreading the word about it. So please edit your posts and remove the specific parts about the wifi and APN settings. - Thanks
Wouldn't work, they flag that stuff based on headers, the data it's self defines what type of device(or browser) it's from, more then likely the only way to bypass it will be to stop all the headers from the traffic(something that PSN might not like and will instead act like there is no internet), you would still have to run the ps3 through the PC to do this, but you would also have to download a program to edit the data as it flows to the Internet, I'll post it in a sec when I remember itGonna try something different first when I get home though. You can try to use this, and set it up to remove useragent strings from all packets and it should 100% bypass all hotspot data when using the foxifi + APN trickGonna try something different first when I get home though. The only thing is some devices use useragent strings that the servers they communicate with expect and will not accept any else, on the Xbox one it was just certain games that had a issue with it when I was on T-Mobile, the ps4 I can't say it might be the whole console, you just have to give it a shot
What's the point, the necessity? It works right out of the box, no editing anything.Regardless, it's already out their, even if they remove the post their are other sites where I've seen this discussion(and the APN settings are a dead horse those are the same settings that you would find with every other metro device, and have been know for a long time. Yeah boss people around, see where it gets you. And as was mentioned before, I didn't come up with this, the information is already out there. So quit trying to boss people around because you think it somehow makes you superior. It doesn't, douche.Jimmy PLEASE refrain from blabbering about the tethering and wifi, many of us are aware of this and it would be better if it wasn't shown to the world. Did you try the hotspot glitch I posted? Yeah no ****ing clue how metro let that one pass the way, but they did and I don't even have to use foxifi, winWhat's the point, the necessity? It works right out of the box, no editing anything.
Even more pointless is editing apn to get it.
There's absolutely nothing to gain.
Oh this completely slipped my mind, but what about using a VPN on the PC connected to the wifi hotspot then sharing the vpn from the PC over Ethernet to the ps3, there are some free vpn site you can use, but this would only make since if it's just the store that's loging hotspot data, since free VPNs are a pain to use and mess with latency bad, if your games work on hotspot fine I would just try a VPN, if the desire trick isn't working great for youNever mind, the latest trick with ethernet IS working. And fairly well so far. It just took a couple minutes for the connection to speed up and do all the negotiating I guess My downloads are hauling a$$ now.
Seems like its working out fine for you, seems like your still slightly limited though since I can get 34 megabits where I am, but maybe you only get around 24 where you areWell, after organizing everything so that my spliced ethernet cable isn't stretched to its limits, by setting the laptop on top of the PS2 right next to the PS3, I have found that across two different PSN game downloads, I am averaging 3 megabytes a second. Not megaBITS. MegaBYTES. So I'd have to say that this experiment was a success.
I wonder why passing the data though another Android seems to bypass the hotspot restrictions? Does planet edit headers on the fly? If it does it would have to be some slight edit that doesn't piss off PSN, if you can is it possible to do a packet capture from another laptop to see what the desire is doing to the data? If so we could make a filter rule in fiddler to edit the data on the fly making stuff like pdanet unnecessary and might help making a app that can do the same thing with wifihotspot, pretty sure if I had the data that needs changing I could ask a dev to mess with it on XDA(shh) I'm more active their, they just don't have any threads at the moment for this phoneWell, after organizing everything so that my spliced ethernet cable isn't stretched to its limits, by setting the laptop on top of the PS2 right next to the PS3, I have found that across two different PSN game downloads, I am averaging 3 megabytes a second. The thing is, 1 this isn't the only place the info is, 2 most of this stuff has been a thing for years. Other then the fuk up they did with the shortcut no clue how that missed QA, they usually just remove those shortcuts from phones. But even f they fix it(I doubt it, maybe the next time they have a security patch, but that's probably 6 months away on a zte device, more then likely it will stay till a os update if there is one) foxifi will still work. My point is this is the Internet good luck trying to stop info from being spread, and as stated it was found on other sources first so it really does not help to remove it hereWasn't bossing you around, and you don't need to start name calling like some child. I went to great lengths to keep the message about unlimited tethering quiet so not too many will know. Kind of defeats the purpose when you spill the can of beans in a public thread that is viewed by many people.
Pdanet and foxifi(USB) don't work on this phone, just enable hotspot from the lock screen via the shortcut in the taskbar it bypasses the check for tetheringI am having trouble with my phone connection to my laptop with foxfi USB tether. It just tells me to connect them yet they are connected, they are running the same version of pda. Thoughts anyone?
If you need USB because you don't have wifi, you will have to connect another Android to the computer and use foxifi on it while connecting to the wifi hotspot from the ztePdanet and foxifi(USB) don't work on this phone, just enable hotspot from the lock screen via the shortcut in the taskbar it bypasses the check for tethering
